Went to The Salon at Ulta in Ithaca yesterday. First time. Saw an ad that said 25% off for first time customers. Booked my appointment online which I liked. I was pleasantly surprised by the salon It was immaculately clean, and I was greeted by Tammy as soon as I walked in. Tammy was fabulous. Helped me choose a color, was easy to talk to and really did a nice job. She really gives a great shampoo! My cut was the best I’ve had in a long time. Tammy also spent a lot of time styling my hair even though that meant she stayed more than an hour past her closing time. Her co-workers walked by occasionally and seemed to like her. She was friendly and said something nice to each one. I liked that while my color was processing, I walked through the aisles around me and picked out shampoo & conditioner & a few other items. Not everyone would be comfortable walking around like that & with the cape on still, but it didn’t bother me. At check-out, as promised, I received the 25% off discount. In summary, I had a great appointment and highly recommend Tammy and this salon.

This place honestly costs way too much for what is offered. I saw a special for 80 dollars that said I would get my nails, hair, brow wax, and make up done. For my hair all I wanted was a simple waterfall braid-which the stylist could not do. I didn’t get my nails done, or my eye brows waxed! and my make up was decent, I probably could have done it myself. The total was 100 dollars! The hair stylist said some crap and she had to charge me an extra 10 dollars. All she did was curl my hair! If I were you I would take business elsewhere because this place is pathetic.

I had such high hopes for this place because their products are great. But my experience at the salon was quite awful unfortunately. I made an appointment for the special they had which was a $ 60 color. When I got there there was very annoyed stylist waiting for me. She was obviously annoyed to be there after 5 and told me that because she’s a «level 2 stylist» the special doesn’t apply with her. My color cost $ 160 dollars with tip! I’ve never spent that much on something I could’ve done myself. My stylist was very unhelpful and very bad with words and explaining what she would be doing even though my request wasn’t at all complicated. She told in depth details about her personal life, and left me sitting there about ten minutes after her timer went off. I would not recommend this salon to anyone, the special was misleading and no one mentioned it was specific to certain stylists. Will not be back, will happily spend my money elsewhere. I could get my hair colored three times for 160 bucks.

I have been getting Ulta ads ever since they opened and finally decided to give it a try because they offer $ 30 hair cuts for first time salon customers, which is far cheaper than my usual haircut at a local salon. My hair dresser barely spoke to me, glanced at the picture I showed her and then didn’t give me a cut at all like it, and was generally unprofessional. All of that would be okay for a $ 30 haircut, but when I went to pay they charged me $ 46 instead. Apparently my hair dresser was a manager and therefore the $ 30 rate did not apply to her. At NO point was this mentioned to me. The poor girl at the register was super apologetic and acknowledged that they should let people know ahead of time that this happens. I scheduled online and said any hairdresser was fine– at least one other hairdresser was standing around my entire appointment, so clearly they just booked the more expensive one first without giving guests any warning. My pretty crappy haircut ended up costing as much as it costs for me to get a far better cut at my local salon. I’m definitely not going back to the Ulta salon again!

Revision 08÷11÷2015− What a difference 10 months makes! Terrible, inattentive staff, store manager not helpful, save for a couple of original staff no one knows much about products nor color matching. No staff around at register or on the sales floor. What happened? If you are looking for help, good luck finding anyone. Pathetic. 10/23/2014 — I spent a about an hour basking in the glory of the Prestige section of the Ithaca Ulta today and loved every minute of it. The associates I spoke to were extremely helpful and quite knowledgeable about the products and did a wonderful job helping me chose the right colors. The skin therapist was a wealth of information when I asked her about what skincare products might work best for me. I will definitely make an appointment for a facial– they use Dermalogica products for all the facials — very impressive! The store is quite large and has everything from higher end makeup to regular department store brands, hair styling tools, hair products galore, and perfumes, ah yes, perfumes. The staff was informed and very helpful. I will be spending a lot of my time(and money) there!
