I decided to order the pineapple fried rice. It’s bland and you can barely taste any seasoning. The Delivery service was great! My order arrived about 10 minutes after placing my order. I was impressed.

For our first visit it was just takeout order and we enjoyed the food. They have a Lunch Special; M-F from 11am-3:30pm. These are lunch portions of sauteed, curry, fried rice, and Noodle dishes. The takeout order was Pad Thai and Green Curry. Both were good; rated it 4⁄5. Because of the good experience we decided to try an early site down dinner. For dinner we ordered Drunken Noodle– good mixed of veggies and noodles with their«special» sauce. Rate 5⁄5 Thai Style Fried Rice– it was tasty and simple; above average. Rate 4⁄5. Sweet & Sour salmon– tasty, nice blend of sweet and sour; portions were small. Rate 4⁄5 For the food I would give them 4⁄5 rating but the problem we encounter is how dark they turn down the light in the evening. It was so dark we could not see the food when it came out. The couple near us were using their flashlight apps to read the menu. We had to turn on our flashlight app to see what we were eating. They have very cool décor but you can’t see it because it is so dark inside at night. We complain to the waitress and her reply was that is the way the owner want it. We finished our meal and left the dark dining room and laughed at the fact that the restaurant is call Black Thai. This is my reason for the 2-star rating.

Nice place to get Thai food especially since there aren’t many than restaurants in this neighborhood. Very stand in terms of the Thai food that they serve(pad thai, pad see ew, etc.). I ordered the pineapple fried rice with beef which was very good and their thai ice tea is on point as well. This place is very small and the atmosphere is a little overwhelming with all of their statues and decorations. Overall not a bad place for some grub.

I have only ordered from Black Thai for delivery. Delivery has usually(some outliers) been prompt and accurate. I have tried their noodles and fried rice, which has always been tasty, but one order of pad see ew was incredibly greasy. The oil was pooling at the bottom, and I felt bad when my company noticed and made a comment. I would suggest they be less heavy-handed with the oil. The tom yum soup is quite spicy. I have also tried their fried banana, which I enjoyed, but again, a bit greasy(though that’s to be expected, being that it’s deep fried). All in all, a good thai spot in the neighborhood, if they’ve lessened the grease factor. (I noticed they are no longer listed on .)

There are two Thai restaurants in my neighborhood but I always go to one: Black Thai. A quick look at my Seamless Order History quickly reveals that. The food is good, the staff is friendly and the service is efficient. The décor is unique and the tables are usually always occupied. And in a neighborhood brimming with a plethora of different cuisines, the fact that I keep returning to this place quite says it all. Everything I have tried so far: — Pad Thai — Green Curry — Basil Fried Rice — Drunken Noodles — Pineapple Fried Rice — Vegetarian Spring Rolls — Crispy Duck Spring Rolls — Any dish with Vegetarian Duck …has always been delicious.

The shrimp fried rice is delicious. One of the best rice I’ve had. The chicken pad Thai is good. The crab cake not so much. The service and delivery is good. I recommend.

The place is nice but if you’re looking for an authentic Thai, this place is not a place for you. It’s so called«fusion» and it will pass just that. It’s more Chinese than it claims to be Thai, to sweet & saucy for Thai food.

The play on words of this cleverly named Thai restaurant became evident when you try to ‘Siri’ their location on Maps. You may end up at a MET Gala(which wouldn’t have been too bad), but more likely a Men’s Warehouse(see: Black Tie). You can find this restaurant’s tiny storefront in the middle of the block hidden by the bright, blimp-sized 99 cent store canopy. Normally, on this stretch of Northern Blvd you would find yourself at a flashy, bustling Hispanic restaurant, so Black Thai stretches the diameter of exceptional Thai restaurants in the Jackson Heights area. The décor of this compact 40-seater establishment is equally artful, ethnic and Gothic while the ambiance is enhance with the bibbity bump of Thai Techno music… Thechno. We indulged ourselves in some vegetarian fare and it was delicious. Pad Ki Mao(Drunken Noodle) with crispy Tofu was served on a huge platter because there were huge cubes of fried tofu sin excess oil, rolling chunks of red peppers, and large wide rice noodles peppered to my palate’s spice preference(4⁄5 chillies on a chilly Autumn evening.) My favorite dish was the Vegetarian Duck which was sauteed in a succulent tangy, spicy sauce without sacrificing the necessary textural components of the«duck.» Service was passable — nothing to complain about, but nothing memorable. I’m not sure I would come back given my allegiance to another Thai establishment in this area(see: Arunee.) Perhaps, Black Thai will be a change of pace establishment, however the parking in this area leaves a lot to be desired(like a parking a spot.) Simiarly, the nearest(7) train is about a 10 minutes walk. Nevertheless, if I were to return it would be to taste their other duck plates and traditional curries.

We ordered from here on a suggestion from another couple so we did not dine in the restaurant; they may be the difference. I ordered the Pad Thai — forgot which protein — and a couple of other things suggested by other Unilocalers. The delivery may have been the problem; it took a little bit and I think if we would have eaten«in-house» it would have been better. It’s just that by the time we got it, the noodles were falling apart and in pieces and just not very appetizing. Maybe next date night, we will actually go to the restaurant as I have heard the décor is pretty cool.

Small, but a cozy place. They much have put a lot of efforts into designing that place. Very quick service. It’s a gem in slowly growing area! Food is awesome compare to other Thai places. Spicy fried rice with beef and spring rolls my fav!

This place was amazeballs. Late on a Thur night we happened to be the only customers in the beautifully decorated restaurant so we had great service and really good food. Papaya salad was long thinly sliced ribbons of carrot and papaya with green beans and cherry tomatoes. Sweet tangy savory balanced perfection. The ground chicken for lettuce cups was sauteed with veggies and a delight to the taste buds. Pad see ew included fresh noodles and mostly decent beef with veggies. We should have stopped but went for the mango sticky rice anyways and were so wowed by it. No regrets. Decent prices, parking can be tough, one of the few asian options in a sea of latin joints.

Not a fan. The service was bad and we were the only table in the restaurant. The menu seemed good but they did not deliver in terms of taste or authentic flavors. The portion was also small for the price. With so many options in the area, I won’t be back.

On basically every ordering site out there, had an Eat24 code(when do I not?) so tried to act white and went with the Pad Thai(Lunch) 1 + 10.90 How Spicy?: Spicy(it wasn’t at all) Make it With: Squid($ 2.95 Extra)(because crab wasn’t an option) Choice of Side: Salad(because it was 90). Friendly but nothing worth returning for.

Went to try this place for the first time yesterday and i thought it was just ok. I have to admit the décor is cute. I get what they’re going for. A nice trendy place you would find in the city. I was not impressed with the bathroom because it was way too dark and you cant even find the light switch. I liked the menus because it was authentic and from thailand but it didnt go with the décor. As per the food i decided to only order some appetizers first just to see how it was before ordering entrees. So glad i did that. I ordered the crab dumplings, duck wrap, crab cakes and crispy ribs. Hmm where to start? The crab dumplings were either fried for too long or the oil was old because it was super dark. There was also no flavor to it. The duck wrap tasted good however the roti itself tasted like freezer burn. They really need to wrap those things up correctly. I wasnt really a fan of their sauce but i know the concept so i get it. The crab cakes were not good at all. The consistency was horrible and the mango sauce was made of bottle mango purée. I would have preferred the taste of fresh mangos. And last but not least the«crispy» ribs was nothing like how it was described on the menu. They were basically chinese take out spare ribs drizzled with plum/sweet chili sauce topped with fried basil leaves. I’ll try it out again before i rule it out but generally if i dont like even 1 dish it’s really hard to go back.

We were driving down northern blvd looking for a new place to have dinner and I spotted Black Thai. Thank god I followed my gut feeling and came here! Some of the best Thai food I’ve had and I’ve had a lot lol seriously the food was delicious! It’s a cozy little place, dark and intimate but casual. Friendly staff and fast service. I recommend this place for sure!

This place is SOYUMMY! Drunken noodles all the way! Like others said, they are not kidding when they say spicy, which is good for me — I love it! Make sure to stop in and take in the cool atmosphere — interesting décor for sure! I will definitely be dining here more often when I am in the area! Short safe 15 min walk from my hotel — Courtyard LaGuardia.

When they say spicy, they mean spicy! I ordered takeout from Black Thai last night and was far from being disappointed. I was almost going to order elsewhere because I wasn’t crazy about the surcharge of $ 2 on beef or shrimp, but I’m glad I stuck with my gut. It took me well over 20 minutes to drive to the restaurant thanks to last night’s rainy traffic, but all was worth it in the end. What I ordered: Chicken Lettuce Wrap — Wanting to be semi healthy, I opted for this as an appetizer. It was good, not amazing, with no wow factor, so yeah, it was simply just good. A little on the salty side though. Spicy Basil Fried Rice with Pork — Can I have more?! So, Black Thai allows you to choose spicy or non spicy for some of their dishes, and I opted for spicy because what is Thai food without a little kick? It was wayyy more than just a little kick, but oh so good! This dish is SPICY I tell you. But even being heavily spiced, the spice did not mask the basil and the rest of the fried rice and the pork was amazingly tender. This dish was just phenomenal. Drunken Noodle with Chicken — So yes, I refused to pay an extra $ 2 for beef, but I was perfectly content with my pork and chicken choices. The drunken noodle is basically stir fried broad noodles(same noodles used for pad see ew) with basil, chilies, and their«special house sauce». Same verdict as above — SPICCAYYYY but bursting with flavor and absolutely delicious! One thing I did wish the dish have was some egg though. I’m use to have eggs in the pad see ew and honestly think the drunken noodles would’ve tasted much better with an egg scrambled in there. Thai Iced Tea — Definitely not the best and not creamy enough to my liking. My cup wasn’t filled all the way to the top either so. All in all, my stomach was happy, my taste buds were dancing, I was beyond satisfied and did not regret driving 50 minutes back and forth just for some Thai takeout. My next visit would definitely be to dine in.

My partner and I live up the block and have walked by a few times. Looks super cozy and perfect for a dinner date. Tonight, however, we decided to order for delivery. We read great reviews about the food and short delivery time and they definitely lived up to the hype. The pineapple fried rice with chicken was a-mazing! Seriously. Along with the coconut sticky rice and papaya salad. The salad was mild hot and perfect cause I can’t do too spicy. So happy our Monday night ordering was successfully and yummy!
