Bocaito Wine Bar

I made reservation for 9:30 pm, when I got there the waitress didn’t realize that in fact it was 9:30 already so our table was not ready. She ask to give her a little bit of time and we said ok. She took our drink order at about 9:50 because we were still waiting for our table. We sat down at 10pm and got the drinks we originally ordered at 10:15!!!45 minutes waiting not even a drink! The food I would rate a little better than the service, but even then I wasn’t all that impressed. I had a cocktail which was pretty good and probably the only reason I would go back if I ever go back.

Great ambiance and delicious food! My husband and I love the food every time, it never disappoints. The staff is friendly and observant with anything you need.

This place just gets better and better and it started off at the top! It is consistent and fresh with friendly staff and great amazing food! i almost go every week to try something new. The best Brunch in town! The best reg sangria ever! that chimichurri and fresh salad dressings are freshly made, not bottled! this is a great date spot too!

WOW! I had a family dinner here last night and it was amazing. I drove by there in the morning Unilocaled it read some great reviews so decided to give this place a try. I wasn’t disappointed. From the beautiful décor, the attentive and friendly staff, the delicious sangria to the five star worthy food this is a restaurant I’ll be sure to return to. I had the stuffed chicken which was crisp on the outside juicy in the inside the mushrooms and spinach on the side were very flavorful as was the unique lentil maduro asparagus rice. My husband had the grilled salmon with the pineapple sauce on top (I don’t eat salmon so I didn’t taste it) he said it was some of the best salmon he’d ever had and he loved the pineapple sauce. My father and sister both had steaks which were cooked perfectly as they requested. My sister’s came with a side of yuca mashed potatoes topped with cheese very unique very delicious. My father who is never happy when eating out. This man is picky. We dread taking him anywhere. He had NO complaints for once. He said his steak and shrimp were perfect. He liked it so much he wants to celebrate his July birthday there in their garden
area. Being that it was snowing and cold they had it closed but from the looks of it it looked beautiful and intimate. My step-​mother had the cazuela which was huge and flavorful. We all had some of it. The prices were a bit steep but for great food and service I for one don’t mind paying a little more. The bathroom was clean and beautiful. Bottom line we all loved this place. We agreed that we would recommend it and we will back to eat there again. I can’t wait until I can try their brunch with unlimited drinks :)

The food was great at Bocaito Wine bar and so were the drinks.
That being said there were some drawbacks in the overall service. I went at around 8pm so just missing out on the happy hour. Once inside it seemed the place was pretty busy for a Wednesday night (12−30−15). The bartender acknowledge our entrance and pointed out a free table. So we sat our selves (2). A bit later the waitress came over with the menus and my first though was «what’s wrong with her» since she didn’t portray any type of friendliness. Maybe saying «Welcome, is this your first time here, queue smile, etc.» would have helped.
After the waitress saw we were ready to order we ordered drinks, appetizer and the main course. Unfortunately a long wait was ahead. We waited maybe 20min I’m not sure I wasn’t keeping time but it felt like that. People who came in after us and sat at the bar received their drinks before us. Eventually we go our… appetizer and still no drinks 4−5min later the bartender came and delivered our drinks.
The appetizer was great we got the «AREPITAS CON ROPA VIEJA» for the main course I ordered the CHURRASCO with Yucca Au Gratin. It was delicious except for the meat being the wrong temperature. I ordered it Medium but it seems I got a medium well to well done. It tasted great regardless.
Also the music at the time was great along with the décor it’s too bad the service was lacking but I suppose I’ll give it a pass since it was just one waitress for the entire place which was about 80% full.
I plan to eat here again.

Since it is a hispanic styled cuisine, my date and I only came here for wine and small plates. It wasn’t so bad, the crab cakes were good and the presentation of the food was stylish. The décor was alright, service was good and would definitely go back in the future.

The place is a dream come true. Amazing staff, and the food and ambiance are delightful. Cannot wait to get back.

Maybe it was because we missed the brunch time, just FYI — last seating for brunch is at 2:45pm and bottomless alcoholic beverages is an addition $ 10. So in total, you’ll be paying for a pre-​fixe menu and drinks for $ 30 — NOT $ 20.
We had the burger and mofongoito, the burger was pretty stacked. The patty was pretty thick and so was the bacon. They probably could have cooked the bacon a little more, it was a bit chewy and salty. Good thing the patty was a bland otherwise it would have tasted like putting a spoonful of salt in your mouth. The mofongoito was okay, I liked the shrimp and mofongo. It wasn’t overly cooked, the sauce was a bit tomatoe-​y like they just dumped some warm sauce on top of each mofongo. I had better in other places than here.
The service was good though, the waitresses were very attentive and kept checking in to make sure that everything was okay and to see if we needed anything. I would only come back again maybe during the brunch hours to see if it’s as good as the other reviews say it is.

We were here because our friends are in love with the wine cocktails. It would have been a four-​star restaurant if it hadn’t been so expensive. Starters were priced like mains. That said, the «arepitas» with ropa vieja were solid, as were the plantains – rich, but not too greasy. The arepas were also very attractively presented. The coconut mojito was creamy and smooth, with plenty of fresh mint.

Didn’t try any app’s but was here last night for dinner with one visiting friend. I got the platter with shrimp. It was good and the drinks were good too.
Will be back in the future. No complaints on this Thursday night.

Amaziiiiiing! Had the spicy ceviche for the appetizer it was delicious. not spicy though so I asked for the spicy green sauce on the side and it was perfect! Red sangria was amazing. wasn’t too sweet. was made with a good amount of fruit! Had the skirt steak with the cheesy sweet potatoes was soooo good! The steak was cooked medium and was very juicy! For dessert I had the crème brûlée.omg so so so so good! Nicole was my server .she is super sweet and knows the menu very well! Highly recommend and will be back!

This place is great! We sat in the patio super cute the service was good. We order the pitcher of sangria with la picada which was excellent! It has skirt steak tostones empanadas chorizo chicharron and of course arepas! I would definitely be returning for brunch and dinner.

I am a certified executive chef by trade and currently a GM at a restaurant in uptown NYC. I have avoided making a Unilocal for quite some time but the food here made me create one because from the ambiance to the service to of course the food, everything was EXCEPTIONAL.
This is a place I have no problem paying the tolls twice to go to. Our bartender Pablo made some amazing drinks and out waitress Nicole was nothing short of helpful.
I will be back here without a doubt!!!

Esperando pasar un rato agradable. Pero no oaso asi, al yegar alas 12 pm yo i mi hermana Entramos primero nos recivio una chica dare sus señas para que sepan quien es era una chica colombiana, de pelo, teñido, estatura media, un tanto chuby,
Y msl dntrar lo primero q nos dijo enves de saludarnos y darnis la buenvenida como se deve de aser en todo restaurante que se respete,
Dijo si se van a sentar solo pueden en el bar, o las mesas altas por q tengo una mesa grande, hello nisiquiera pregunto cuantos eramos q por cierto ivamos a ser 8 con un tono tajante y prepotente
Mi sugerencia talvez deverian replantear estrategia de mercado ya q son el unico lugar q ofrece brunch
Y un menu diferente al resto de todos los restaurantes, colombianos del area q porcuerto brillan por su creatividad ofreciendo todos el mismo

Pienso que es una de las rasones por las q no son tan populares Apesar de tener comida tan rica

Bocaito is amazing!!! Go and Try it!
I had the opportunity to try it yesterday with my wife, and two friends of us.
The place is cozy and not too big, but didn’t have anybody yelling or talking next to us. The besitos cocktail is amazing! We had two order of the Arepas con Ropa Vieja, which is 3 small arepas topped with ropa vieja (shredded beef) tomato, guacamole, sour cream, and chorizo (Spanish sausage) what a delicious dish!!! The girls had two orders of empanadas 1 of spinach and cheese and another one of chicken. I tasted the spinach and cheese which taste pretty good, crunchy, no soggy, or grassy. I didn’t get to have a bite of the chicken one, but my friends said that it was very good.
We didn’t get to try dessert or anything else besides those 2 dishes from the menu because we only went for a drink and an appetizer, but we will definitely be back soon, probably for brunch or dinner!
We had a conversation with one of three owners, which I don’t remember the name now, lol. She told us the idea of how the place came up and everything. I could tell you now, but why don’t you go and find out.
To end up the night, she gave us a round of some passion fruit shot, pretty amazing we said thank you and left very satisfied.

We had a great dining experience here – food was good, as was the service. However, when we tried to use a gift certificate (purchased a week ago) the waitstaff refused to honor it, even after supposedly contacting the manager. This seems like poor professionalism, which is unfortunate given the great potential here.

What a great little gem in Jackson Heights! I came here for my 26^th birthday dinner with my parents and grandparents. We were a group of 9 and the waitress, Pamela, did a good job at juggling all of our requests.
The food here is so good. By far, the best dinner entrée is the churrasco (skirt steak) with the yuca au gratin. I was about to order fries with the skirt steak because I wasn’t a big fan of yuca, but the waitress politely insisted that I try the yuca au gratin. I’m so glad I took her advice! Delicious, creamy, cheesy — ugh, it was amazing. And the skirt steak? Soft, juicy, incredible. My dad and my husband ordered the pork chops and really liked them as well — the portions were huge.
My husband and I came here for a friend’s birthday brunch as well. Again, we were a large group and the staff was very accommodating (thanks Nicole!). The restaurant was having a special event with a celebrity chef, DJ, and unlimited Avion drinks. It was so much fun! I had the Pina Colada Chicken and Waffles — it was interesting to taste chicken with pineapple and I liked it a lot. Other friends ordered the breakfast Paella and the Sea Bass entrees. Everyone enjoyed their food.
I’m glad to have a cute place like this in the neighborhood and I can’t wait to return for some more steak and drinks. Can’t wait to try out their backyard seating in the summer!

Was there for Valentine’s Day and it was amazing. The pre-​fix menu they had setup for the night was delicious from start to end. My wife and I love this place, it’s a nice lovely romantic place with some good soft music. I know they call themselves a wine bar but they are more like a romantic, quiet, good music, grown people restaurant. Very different to the rest of the places around them. Been in this place a few times and have tried different items from the menu and NOTHING has disappointed my wife and I.
Will recommend this place anytime and will continue to go here.

I had the pleasure to try dinner and brunch at bocaito and the food is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS.
But not only the food is delicious, the service is great, the staff is always so nice and kind. The place has a very nice vide.
