Do not go ! No electronics allowed. No music or headphones allowed. Screaming brats for hours. Staff is so rude it’s not even funny. Facilities are Third World country.

Public pools in the city don’t always offer a great experience. Open swimming at Astoria Pool is for the birds. The attendants are often yelling at everyone and anyone as they herd you like cattle into the locker rooms. It’s just a barrage of barking and over the top rules. So when my wife and I found ourselves with an open afternoon on a hot summer day we wanted to be hopeful, but we assumed it would just be more of the same when it came to planning our visit to Fisher Pool. We were pleasantly surprised and had a great experience taking our kid here! The staff was very friendly and humane, which has not been our experience at Astoria Park or the Aquatic Center at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Attendants offered to assist my wife in handling our daughter since she was alone in the locker room. They have 2 separate pools; a shallow wading pool, which was great for our daughter to play fairly independently, and a larger(though still fairly small) regular pool. I can imagine the pool very easily getting overcrowded(actually our neighbor told us how when his family tried to go a few weeks ago the line wrapped around the block), however it was very manageable during our visit. The rules are the same here as all city pools(white t-shirts and hats only, you MUST have a lock or you can’t go in, you might be asked if you’re wearing underwear under your bathing suit, no food or drink in glass bottles allowed). Overall, it’s pretty bare bones, but we weren’t looking for a luxury experience. Just wanted to have a nice afternoon, which we did.

I love the peace and quiet here very nice swimming area. Plus its free no membership needed although You would need to bring a lock to put your stuff in the lockers, the guards are very attentive as well.
