I stopped into Backcountry Delicatessen last week for a sandwich, and it was okay. One couple placed their order just before me, and we all got our sandwiches within 10 minutes. My sub came with turkey, avocado, and bacon. The menu suggested that I get it grilled, but when I placed this request with the employee, she informed me that the ovens were already cooling down for the day, 45 minutes before closing time. My sandwich was good in the way that everything’s good when you add enough meat, avocado, and bacon. There was nothing particularly memorable about it, and at $ 9.25, next time I’m in Jackson I’ll probably go somewhere else.

Good sandwiches with reasonable prices. I had the Pastrami– the sandwich was good but not the best pastrami meat I’ve had. I prefer Boars Head over this, but they do use organic meats and fresh vegetables. My husband got a veggie sandwich which he enjoyed. The service was nice and friendly.

Probably the best sandwiches in the area! Egg and sausage sandwich was awesome. I’m pretty sure everything hot is microwaved, but still overall a great sandwich spot!

Great food as long as you’re not in a hurry. I called in an order and it was amazing but I waited at the restaurant a good 5 – 10 minutes even though it was called in. It appeared that there was only one person working so when I came in to get my order she was making other orders as well as greeting guests. If they would have had one more person working they could have just handed me my order(which was already done).

Sandwiches are good but it’s a Saturday at 1230 and you only have 1 person making sandwiches and taking orders? It took over 20 minutes to get our sandwiches and that was with the guy hurting so we could make our flight!

Great little shop in town. Check it out when you get a chance. I highly recommended the Godfather but don’t take my word for it. Order it!

I come here every time I’m in town. Their food is great and the staff has always been helpful. My toddler was hungry so they just made him an egg with cheese just to help out. Their sandwiches are great and are a good deal.

Scoped this place out ahead of time, but forgot to write down the address. So when I was shopping at Made(sweet local store!), I asked if they knew where the deli was — and it was just outside the courtyard. Meant to be! We split a Backcountry Cuban, and it was scrumptious! Hot hot peppers, crunchy pickles and yummy pulled pork — very limited seating was being monopolized by a group of guys just hanging out, so we headed to Town Square and ate outside. That worked out even better — enjoying a fresh delicious sandwich outside on a lovely October afternoon. And we found out that they have other locations, so we snagged a menu for later. Just one guy behind the counter, but we still got our food in short order. There’s a blackboard with the daily special hanging behind the counter, and the extensive menu posted on the wall. Might want to review the website prior to coming in, as there’s a lot of choices.

Everytime I come to Jackson Hole, I make it a point to stop here. The sandwiches are freshly made. I usually order the Pilgrim — turkey, muenster cheese, stuffing, and cranberry sauce on French baguette. It’s like having a thanksgiving meal as a sandwich. My husband orders the Grand — prosciutto, capocollo, sopressata, provolone, tomato, romaine lettuce, garlic mayo, house vinaigrette on French baguette. I’ve also ordered online for large groups so we can take sandwiches to-go on our excursions. It’s really convenient.

Amazing breakfast sandwiches. The ciabatta is so soft, warm and delicious. The ingredients are so fresh and flavorful. Can’t wait to go back for lunch.

«I got that summertime, summertime sandwich… summ, summ, summ, summertime, summertime sandwich…» You know that song, right? It came out a couple of years ago, sung by Lana Del Rey. It’s strange that this melancholy singer who wants to die young, has such joie de vive for a simple sandwich. I personally like living, a lot, but hey, I agree, sandwiches in the summertime can be pretty terrific. What do you mean I’m misquoting the song lyrics? Really? Um, this is embarrassing. Backcountry is a micro sandwich chain, with three shops in Colorado and one in downtown Jackson, right off the main square. Great online ordering system. We ordered up several sandwiches online before we arrived and while they could use some improvements to their UI on the website because its a little clumsy ordering their build– your-own-sandwiches, we were able to figure it out, and to drop by downtown to pick them up. Sandwiches here are on the expensive end: $ 8-$ 10, but are worth it as they use good ingredients and have some nice flavor combinations. In terms of ambiance, the shop is small and I recommend primarily take-away. The sandwiches, though, are a step above your typical deli variety. We liked the Pilgrim(turkey, muenster, stuffing, cranberry romaine and lettuce) and the Dolomite on a baguette(prosciutto, salami, provolone, roasted red peppers, red onion, romaine, oil and vinegar.) I’d absolutely re-up here for more sandwiches next time I’m in Jackson. «Got that sumertime… summertime sandwich. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh.» Come on, admit it. Those should have been the lyrics.

Came into town and wanted a quick lunch. I did the«build your own» and got sliced chicken, smoked Gouda, avocado, lettuce tomato with their homemade garlic mayo in a wrap, it was great! Fresh ingredients that tasted wonderful. My husband got the curry chicken salad also in a wrap and he loved it. It’s a small quaint place, with friendly service and great food you can get quickly. There’s very limited seating so unless it’s not crowded you may need to take it to go. Check it out!

Five stars for the food, three(ish) stars for the strange staff. While it didn’t personally bother me, it might not be a good idea to mimic hanging yourself once I tell you that we need a few minutes to review the menu. Yes, I know you’re trying to be funny. No, it’s not really funny. The sandwiches were tasty and fresh, and while they were large enough to make me feel like I got my money’s worth, they weren’t so big that I felt like I had swallowed a brick. We were thinking that it might be really nice to grab a sandwich here and take it out for a picnic. Hubs had the cuban(very good), and I had the… sandwich with prosciutto and salami(also good). If I were back in the area, I’d definitely stop by again for a sandwich.

We are locals and after many many times of them getting our order wrong eating stale bread all the time, we decided to not eat here anymore. Then we gave in after a year to see if it was any better and had a guy answer the phone that was completely rude ! We will never go here again.

On a snowboarding trip here in Jackson and decided to give Backcountry Deli a try based on the great ratings. It is fantastic! We went back today for a second time and will probably go again before we leave in a few days. I had the tuna sandwich on whole wheat and it was delish. Has great tuna, Swiss cheese, avocado, field greens, and tomato. My husband and friends have had a variety of the other sandwiches, breakfast, and soup– all of which they enjoyed too. Certainly recommend Backcountry to anyone who is in Jackson!

We were here for a late lunch and the place was empty, but steady with phone orders and take-outs. I can see why people keep coming here — I think I would eat here A LOT if I lived in Jackson! The bread is fresh(the baguette was not so hard that it scraped my palate) and the meat is scrumptious. A return visit will be necessary when we come back to Jackson.

It took a long time to order, and a long time to receive my sandwich on this particular day. The line was not especially long, but it was moving quite slowly. I had the impression that they were preparing several phone-in lunch orders and that walk-ins were suffering as a result. I ordered«the special» for my lunch. It was«The Divide»(Turkey, Bacon, Avocado, Garlic Mayo and Pepper Jack, served hot). There was nowhere to sit on this day(the inside is small, and the line of people is tables adjacent), so I got the sandwich to go. I was eating it within 10 minutes, but by then it had turned into something of a soggy mess. My thought was«cold turkey is tasty, hot turkey can be nice, but warmish turkey is somewhat unappetizing» The avocado and mayo had leached into the structurally insufficient bread. I could not really taste the Pepper Jack cheese. The flavors were fair, but they did not seem to compliment each other well. I am guessing that a different sandwich, ordered on a different day, would have resulted in a more positive dining experience.

We enjoyed our EBLT breakfast sandwich here –see photo-. Service was reasonably prompt and everything was tasty, with good chunky ingredients. Not the very best value for money, but this is as good it gets given the area, and I would definitely eat here again.

Yes, it’s pricier than your local Subway but not by much more and well worth it. Ingredients are fresh and there are so many options — I like that the sandwiches were divided up based on meat type on the menu. On behalf of my dad who has traveled to countless other cities/foreign countries for his job and has probably tasted the most amazing things: «This is the best sandwich I have EVER had.»(he got the Grand)
