In the beginning it was really geared more to wine, but the small plates menu has grown to the point that you could enjoy a great meal here also. I actually only go there now for the food. If you don’t get the cauliflower saganaki you’re missing out on the best cauliflower you’ve ever tasted… even if you dislike cauliflower you will like it. Pretty much all of their side items are delicious, especially the truffle fries. I have noticed that most of their items tend to be over-salted. As for the wine, look I’m not a snob but I know enough about wine to know that they are robbing you blind. Just don’t. Drink a bottle before or after. The selection isn’t good enough to merit the prices and even the bottles they offer that are very high quality, the price just gets exorbitant and you may as well order the bottle from a specialty store. The food is why I keep going back. The atmosphere is very calming and low key, dim lights, not for children, and large groups may be possible, but I wouldn’t suggest it. On busy nights it can get a little overcrowded with hipsters and sleazy old dudes looking to impress silly girls with how much they can afford to overpay for wine they pretend to know something about. Like I said I do like this place a lot, but like most places there’s some things that could use work and some things, like the occasional crowd, that isn’t anyone’s fault, but still needs mentioning.

Stemming from our love of Caet’s awesome drinks and the best appetizers around — we hosted our rehearsal dinner in their private room this past November. The room holds about 40 max, has great farm tables, a private bathroom and room for a small bar. It was perfect. We had the pimento cheese toasts for an appetizer — you must try these! And we served shrimp and grits, redfish Anna and the filet as our entrees. It was so good that our guests are still talking about the meal. Many said it was the best steak they’d ever had. Elise is wonderful to work with — so see her about hosting a private dinner!

Great service. Lovely surroundings! Reasonably Quiet for conversation! We tried several dishes and all were excellent except the ravioli. We sent it back as it was tough. They were gracious about that. We will go back!

I stopped in after work and was pleasantly surprised with the MASSIVE wine selection. This is a modern wine bar, with the automated service machines for wine pours(performed by the bartender… this is not self serve, but oh how I wish it were :) We had some appetizers and tried several wines, all were very good. The place was packing up after work, so there seems to be a good following of business folks and locals. The wine menu can be daunting but also fun… where else do they have all these selections? I think they might have had 20 Pinot Noir selections, what a difficult choice to make! The staff are friendly, and my only concern is that this can be a dangerous place… too much good wine and fun, you might need to call a cab to take you home! Great place, great time, great wine!

Best place in Jackson for grown ups to get a drink and bite to eat. More of a bar than a restaurant, but the food is very good.

Caet is an excellent wine bar with great selections of wines. The staff are always helpful and willing to give you suggestions on what to choose. The vibe is super cool and inviting like you and your friends can pick a corner and just catch up for hours. I highly recommend taking your date here or meeting the girls after a great dinner, because the desserts are incredible as well!

Excellent location, excellent libations/food and great staff — ask for Janice! A must for anyone looking to enjoy a cocktail after work or on the patio during the weekend. My only wish is that they opened before 4 pm during the week!

Went here recently with some girlfriends for Happy Hour. They have AMAZING happy hour deals with $ 5 appetizers and drinks. I highly recommend the Pimento Cheese Toast. It is unlike any pimento I have EVER had. It is served with bacon jam — need I say more? The Lola Cherry Cola Slushi was perfect for a humid MS afternoon. Definitely a great spot for Happy Hour deals! Happy Hour is Mon-Sat from 4 until 6.

So this little bar is very cute but I sat outside first, tried to order a bottle of wine and it took 45 min before it finally came out, the wine was bad I picked a poor choice he was nice enough to let us order another bottle, I remember seeing one on the website for $ 60 it was not on the menu and then 20 minutes later the waiter came out saying they have it but was 95 dollars. So I ordered a different wine and they did not have that. I ended up ordering a beer which was… meh. The food came out and it was attractive but very salty… i ordered the filet, some ball kind of appetizer, shrimp and grits, and cauliflower. The cauliflower was probably the tastiest. I ended up with food poisoning ten minutes after I left while I was at the apothecary bar. This is a nice little concept but they are inconsistent with the menu, alcohol choices, and the food is not cooked properly. Caet, Please improve, this place is decorated very well atleast…

Great happy hour prices, but the food just wasn’t good. Everything was too salty. Had the filet and bouillabaisse which were not on the happy hour menu, but the portobello mushrooms, eggplant, and two cocktails were all just $ 5 for happy hour, M-Sa 4−6pm. Overall final price for the whole meal was reasonable, $ 75 total. I ordered a medium rare filet, but it came out well done. I didn’t make a fuss, I just ate my $ 30 steak because I’m cautious of sending my food back, for obvious reasons. I’m glad I checked this place out though. It seems like a cool place to get drinks. I just wouldn’t order food next time.

I got to choose a venue for a birthday celebration with 3 friends and settled on CAET. I knew nothing about it other than that it was from the Walkers/Local 463 crew. We arrived around 5 to take advantage of their happy hour menu($ 5 appetizers, select wines, beers and cocktails.) There were already a few people there but it was quiet. The first impression was it doesn’t look like anything else in Jackson. The seating is eclectic with a mix of chairs and sofas. Very contemporary and sleek. There is outside seating that is also a mix of styles with sofas and tables. Every table was set with small plates, napkins, and Reidel swirl wine glasses. Those are used for water served from wine bottles. Over the course of the hour, we tried almost all of the appetizers — chickpeas(fried and dusted with Parmesan), catfish with pickles, shrimp corn dogs, pimento bacon jam toast, and portabella fries. All were good, but the toast and chickpeas were the favorites. While it was great tasting several things for $ 5 each, literally all of it was fried except the oysters with bone marrow which didn’t appeal to us. If they would migrate to a 50⁄50 fried menu it would be perfection. The servings are small enough that we had a little room for one more thing and shared the meat & cheese tray. We asked to add fruit, which they did. It included 3 types of meat — prosciutto and two similar items, a handful of red and green olives, honey, a tapenade type condiment with horseradish, 3 – 4 types of cheese, crostini, small orange slices and blueberries. The cheeses were fabulous and the rest was all very good. Our waitress, Janis, did a good job of checking on us without being intrusive. By the time we left, the place was full. It did not feel like Jackson, it definitely had a big city feel — even most of the clientele had a trendy look(well, except us, ha.) I’m giving 5 stars for the environment/décor, the concept, the wine/beer/cocktail selection, and an interesting menu. I’ll return and try more of the non-fried items, for sure.

Service is impeccable here. The wines are very good, but the food menu is lacking(even for a place that doesn’t «do» food) and the prices can appear steep. Atmosphere is fantastic. Here is the deal, they have a ton of wine you can get in different measure glasses or by the whole bottle. You can ask for recommendations or just trust that each wine is superb and dive right in. One point on the price is that while wines by the glass are well overpriced(you can say this anywhere, sure, but definitely here) the bottles can be quite reasonable. Don’t go alone, and bring your appetite for wine. Do not, however, bring your appetite for food. The menu is intentionally small, but nothing really stands out. It is not that the menu tries too hard, but everything just falls short of expectations. That is not a real issue though, because you can just treat this as the waiting room for your reservation at Walkers just around the corner(same owners, they will let you know when your table is ready). The atmosphere inside at night is gorgeous, almost sexy. After strolling around Fondren with your date, continue the conversation over a glass or three of wine here. It makes a great special occasion place, so if that is what you are looking for…

CAET is a gem of a place – here in Jackson – and would be anywhere else. We live just around the corner from it and I never get tired of thinking that we can always go to CAET. It’s a simple concept, with a true wine-bar feel too it. The dishes are small(which I prefer) and the menu changes often enough so that you get variety. I prefer to dine European style, where you have a glass of wine or champagne with a few small plates. Those few small plates add up and I always leave very full. Anything having to do with oysters there are great. Typically, I like raw oysters, but CAET has some good baked oysters. Their lamb sliders and crab rolls are always delicious. The wine, champagne and beer selection is great. It might be the best spot in Jackson.

As far as I know, this is really the only dedicated wine bar in town, but it’s a fantastic option for a night of drinks with friends. The atmosphere is super chill but still sophisticated. It’s definitely not a place to get rowdy with a crazy group, rather it’s a perfect choice for a nice dinner with friends or a date. They have one of the best patios in town, so it’s a really ideal place to grab happy hour on a nice day. The small plates are definitely pricey, especially for how small the servings are, but everything is truly delicious, excellently prepared and beautifully presented. They don’t skimp on anything, from ingredients to presentation. The staff is super friendly, and incredibly knowledgable about their wine selection. I really do like wine, but am pretty unsophisticated in my tastes and knowledge. The staff is never judgey or snobby and they’re always willing to help you find the best wine for you! I’ve discovered some new favorites here for sure. Also, if you have a reservation at Walker’s(another fantastic Fondren restaurant), you can enjoy a glass of wine at Caet while you wait for your table to be ready which is super neat.

I’d heard about CAET from friends, and all had very good things to say about it. So, time to try it out myself. My wife and I visited CAET on a Saturday night with no reservations.(after eating there, I know why reservations are recommended) Still, we were seated quickly in their private dining room — which had been set up for public dining that night. The atmosphere is upscale and hip. Very modern. The only negative thing I could say is that the acoustics, at least in the room in which we were seated, made quiet conversation a bit difficult. Our server, Spencer, did a great job of explaining the wine, cocktail and food menus. And all of his recommendations were spot on! Besides great recommendations, Spencer gave us great service without«hovering». Good job! I had their signature cocktail, the Parliament. Excellent spin on a gin and tonic. We started out by trying two appetizers — the lobster roll and lamb sliders. Both were awesome. The lamb slider may have been the best tasting morsel of the night. After that, I had the duck confit and my wife had scallops. Both were small plates, but completely ample for dinner. Delicious and a very nice presentation. Not an inexpensive place, but you get what you pay for. Our bill, for a cocktail, two glasses of wine, two appetizers and two small plates, was just over $ 120., including tax and tip. Worth it. We’ll be coming back, and look forward to their outside dining when the weather gets a little warmer.

Beautiful atmosphere… Very relaxing. Squid ink panko crusted oysters with house kimchi, cilantro, peanuts and soy butter! Melts in your mouth, slightly spicy but absolutely delicious!

Have eaten at both of Chef Derek Emerson’s other restaurants, Walker’s Drive In and Local 463, numerous times, so was eager to try CAET. Jennifer Emerson did a fabulous job with the design and layout of the bar and tables. Was on my own on my first visit, so sat at the bar, watched a little football, and had some of the most innovative dishes I have had in a long time… and I live in New Orleans and eat out constantly. The lobster rolls were incredible, the oysters were wonderful, the lamb… well, I could go on and on. Came back the next night with my children and grandchildren and have rarely seen them put down their phones, except to take pictures of the food, and just savor the dishes… besides my above recommendations above, think there were three orders of the amazing toast with bacon jelly. Was a wonderful evening of conversation over a fantastic meal and wine. Headed back this weekend.

Superbly designed offering from the owners of Walkers Drive In and Local 463. CAET uses state of the art wine delivery that allows common people like myself to try the finest wines by the taste, ½ and full glass. They have 24 bottles available in the WineStation and a large wine closet as well. If you are hungry Derek has some new offerings on the small plate menu and some of his favorites that we all love. If you have a reservation at Walkers they will text you at CAET and tell you your table is ready. Great stuff. Check them out.
