This is not my favorite restaurant BUT most people will love it so it gets 5 stars from me. Nice environment and quality food that is not your typical Mexican. Staff has always been friendly.

My mother and I had Simmone as our waitress tonight. She was very sweet and anticipated every need. I have visited the Lafayette location, which is so different, but just as good– if not better. The guacamole and service was something I will be coming back for.

Don’t let the«long john silver» looking sign stop you from trying Coyote Blues. You would think it was going to be greasy low quality fast food. This place has great Mexican food and is an excellent Mexican restaurant in town. We tired the beef and chicken fajitas. Salsa was good but chips were greasy. Hands down better than chilies despite their awful sign out front.

I have never had a bad meal at coyote blues. I tried the shrimp fajitas today and they were outstanding! They were mesquite grilled and had a side of their Diablo sauce! Fantastic!

The duck tacos were really good. This place has cheap beer, and a good atmosphere for 5 o’clock on a Monday afternoon. I left with a chicken quesadilla to go and by the time I got to the hotel relaxed and got hungry again the quesadilla was easily reheated and one of the better ones I have had. I would go back to this place especially for the two-for-one margaritas every day of the week.

Being a born and raised Texan, it’s very difficult to be impartial so here is my two-cents. The unsweet tea was great and the to-go cups were huge! The rice and charro beans were not good. The chips were greasy, the salsa lacked spice but had good flavor, and queso lacked flavor. The tortilla’s served with the fajita are store bought. The beef fajitas has no flavor but the chicken was good. I’m used to genuine Mexican food were everything is made from scratch. Three stars is being generous. The staff was helpful and sweet. Thank you John for all your lovely suggestions and hospitality.

We stopped in Jackson on our way to Texas from Cleveland. We went here on March 28, 2016 on a recommendation from the hotel clerk. We were very disappointed and do not recommend it. My wife had a stuffed pepper(stuffed with beef and cheese). Not good. Didn’t finish it. I had a chicken dish with cheese and mushrooms and beans. This ended up being sweet and not tasting Tex-Mex to me at all. I didn’t finish this either. We recognize that Jackson, Tenn may not be a big town, but even with not very high expectations we were quite disappointed. We do not recommend.

Service and atmosphere are always nice. Food is good, but we had to send our sides and our child’s meal back to be heated. Seafood chimi is very good as are the poblano grits. Carnitas burrito also very good. We make it here about 4 times a year, this the only time I have had a food issue. We will be back!

We had a rehearsal dinner for our son and daughter-in-law here with a party of 25. I had checked out several restaurants for the dinner and after eating here twice, I knew this was the place! The manager and his staff were very accommodating and helpful during the setup,(I had brought live flower decorations, candles, photos, and a memorial honoring my father who had passed away only weeks prior to the dinner), during our meal, and afterwards with the take down of decorations. The food is absolutely amazing here! We had the Blues Sampler, Queso Blanco dip, Ceviche, and Fried Oysters for the appetizers. To serve our large group, we ordered several of these apps, which everyone loved. The four dinners we chose to offer our group were: Grilled Shrimp & Grits, Nuevo Crab Crepes, Churrascaria, & Smoked Ribs. The meals were straight out of a magazine and everyone loved the dishes they chose! Our daughter-in-law ordered the filet with mashed potatoes, which she well deserved! The Nuevo Crab Crepes are my favorite, as I love crab and crepes! You get two that are atop rice and a side of corn succotash. Oh my goodness, it is wonderful!!! The Churrascaria skewer has beef, chicken, shrimp, sausage, onions, and peppers atop mashed potatoes. WOW, what a beautiful presentation! The Ribs are so large that I thought that there was a mistake and a huge steak had been ordered. The guests who got the ribs said they were so delicious that they were even better than some in Memphis. What a testament! I can’t say enough about Coyote Blues, other than I would love to see one open in Memphis! Thank you all for the excellent rehearsal dinner experience!!!

On the way to Atlanta stopped in Jackson to have lunch. Figured we would try this place. The service was really good. Very responsive without being over the top. Food was tasty and portions were large. Had the seafood chimichanga and it was good enough to have it again. Over all better than expected. Enjoyed it and would tell you to go if you are close.

I hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner at Coyote Blues 1 month ago for a party of 25. I have to say, the entire evening and experience was exceptional! We reserved the side room for our party, and, we needed it for our crowd. The service was some of the best I have ever experienced, the food was fantastic, the ambience was amazing. Let’s start with some apps — Blues Sampler, Queso Blanco dip, Ceviche, fried oysters on the ½ chip — all were excellent.(Definitely get their oysters!). We selected 4 entrees for our group to chose from: Grilled shrimp and grits, Nuevo crab, Churrascaria, & smoked ribs. Most folks ordered the Currascaria, and, were not disappointed. What a presentation. Meat, chicken, shrimp, on skewers with sausage, onions, peppers over mashed taters — superb! This is about 1 hour from our home, but, I can’t wait to go to Jackson again. This will be my 1st stop and my last stop, and, my in-between stop! I mentioned to the staff they need to come to Memphis! PLEASE! The choices of food, the presentation… why the heck does Jackson get them and not Memphis? With this large party, this was the most expensive meal ticket I’ve ever covered. But, I would do it again in a heartbeat. It was $ well spent, and, I can’t wait to come back(that is, unless you come to us here in Memphis). Thanks Coyote Blues, for all that you did for us.

Mix 2 parts Mexican + 1 part Cajun = Coyote Blues Tex Mex with a Louisiana Kick is how I would describe this place. I’d say pretty much everything on the menu looked good. There are definite ‘chain’ like qualities on the menu and décor. However, it was different and seemingly unique enough from the average Fridays or Cheddar’s. I got the the Chimmichangas — because of course Burritos are the new on trend foods, and obviously everything is better fried. The meal had shrimp and crab — i think. I wish i could remember, but it was so good i annihilated it rather quickly. Be sure to order the ridiculously sized fried ice cream — which can be shared with 4 or more.

I am in Jackson on business and asked the lobby staff at Courtyard Marriott(Campbell Oaks Drive) to recommend a local restaurant. They raved over Coyote Blues and now I know why! The service was exceptional. The food was even better! You know all of your Pinterest Pins of beautifully plated food that you have never cooked? Now you can go to Coyote see it in person! The presentations are something you would expect in a $$$$ restaurant. The atmosphere is casual. The prices are very reasonable. The only thing I didn’t like was the 2 for 1 margaritas… they bring both out at the same time. It just made me look like an alcoholic(obviously didn’t stop me from drinking them!). Apparently, I’m going to have to return and get some cornbread! I didn’t find out about the cornbread until after I made it back to hotel. I see some cornbread to go in my future! I had the ceviche — which was filling enough but didn’t stop me from ordering beef fajitas. It was all amazing and I cannot wait for my return trip to Jackson! Happy Eats!

Went here after getting a gift card as a present. First let me say I freaking love the salsa!!! I could literally eat myself sick and keep on crowing down on that stuff so yummy!!! The rest of the food while good was somewhat lacking in flavor coming across as more bland than anything else. Maybe the salsa ruined any chance the rest of the food had, at least I could put more salsa on my burrito!!!

I don’t always look forward to my extended business trips in Jackson, but one thing that gets me pretty stoked is Coyote Blues. Ambiance: Colorful and Tex-mex in style. There is a lot of seating in the bar area and this is where my co-workers and I come for dinner and drinks after a long hot day in the field. Definitely family friendly as well! Food: I am a sucker for Shrimp and Grits. If I see it on a menu, I have to try it. I give this one a thumbs up. They put a little Mexican twist on a Southern classic, with poblano cheese topping the grits and shrimp smothered in a chipotle cream sauce. Yum yum. I also like their fajitas, which are served sizzling on a metal plate? platter? Hard to describe. It keeps them hot though – that’s for sure. I’ve tried both the shrimp and chicken. Other solid menu items are the shrimp diablo quesadilla, taco salad, and according to my co-workers, the El Patron burrito. Chips & salsa come complimentary before your meal! Service: Nothing to complain about here! Everyone has been friendly and quick with orders. Last but DEFINITELY not least: 2-for-1(7 $) margaritas all day, every day! The best one is the mango. These pack quite a punch. Two usually have me feeling a little tequila tipsy. Believe me – these margs are what keep me sane after working 10 days straight.

We stopped here for lunch traveling through to sit down as we were tired of drive thru. In all honesty we were a little hesitant about a Texmex place not in Texas as we are native Texans. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the menu selection. We split the fajita burrito since we couldn’t take any leftovers and it was very good. The queso, green sauce and salsa were also really close to what we are used to. Staff was friendly. Restrooms were clean and our waitress even offered to give us to go drinks since she knew we were traveling. Would recommend!

Very good first visit. We had the fajitas and split them. Combination chicken and beef. The meat was very tender. Chicken was moist and everything was served sizzling hot. The guacamole was also great. Chips looked a little greasy but they didn’t taste greasy. They were crispy and taste. Ariel was a fun great server. Lots of personality. I would return here on my next visit to Jackson.

Man! I wish there were more places like Coyote Blues. This place is soooo good. The food, service, atmosphere… They have everything going for them. Our service was so great. He looked like he really enjoyed his job. The staff cut up a little with each other but in a professional way. My glass was never even close to empty and checked on us often without being annoying. The food is great too.(See picture) The meat was all marinated a cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes had jalapeños in them! So good! Everything tasted great and it was out in less than 20 minutes. This place is definitely worth your time!
