Located inside the big Regions bank building on the corner of Capitol and Lamar Streets downtown, this Cups is fantastic! It’s a tiny little setup in the corner, near the shoe-shining station, but if you enter from Capitol Stret, you cannot miss it. The manager at this location is truly one of the friendliest, most helpful people I’ve ever encountered working behind a coffee shop counter! He goes out of his way to be nice, and is always wiling to help you make a beverage decision. The coffee at Cups is pretty standard. Their strength lies in their delicious specialty beverages. I’m also a huge fan of their iced coffee because for just a small upcharge, you can get ESPRESSOICECUBES. It’s a game changer, folks! Why do you think this review has so many exclamation points? There are just a couple of tables near the counter, but just across the lobby are six more small tables as well as a bunch of cushiony benches you can sit on while you work, sip your coffee, or catch up with a friend. The wifi is free! You can use the building’s wifi which is open, or the Cups wifi which is PW protected. In my experience, the Cups wifi is a bit speedier but don’t use it unless you’re a paying customer because, well, that’s just rude! Since it’s downtown, there are lots of businessy types wandering about which always makes me feel just a bit more productive just being here! Down on the other side of the building, there’s a Chik Fil A and a Subway in case you need a bite to eat along with your coffee. If you’re downtown and need a caffeine fix, Cups on Capitol is truly the only way to go. BONUS: They’ve got bike parking!!! Not a lot of it, but if you’re familiar with Jackson, you know that bike parking is frustratingly scarce so this place wins my business just for offering it to me. Thanks, Cups!

This coffee spot is a real hangout spot. I enjoyed watching the variety of people from numerous walks of life, but especially the hippie college crowd. It was pretty full with very few places to sit during a Saturday afternoon. I didn’t however get the sense it is too easy to meet new people there as a new comer. I had the so-called blonde frappicino. It was tasty and probably a little less than it would cost at Starbucks.(Certainly this atmosphere is better.) It is more expensive than that at McDonald’s. I think the McDonald’s one tastes a little better. The place has open internet.

This place is tricky to find — it’s located in the lobby of a building. No signs outside… now real way to draw in folks from the street. So basically their customers are the folks in the building — or folks like me that are determined to get their caffeine fix! I had the blonde — which comes with white chocolate and caramel I believe. Grabbed a large — sat at a table and clanked on the keyboard for a few hours. The lobby was quite for the most part — but there is a shoe shiner not too far away that was talking up a storm. In a good way! It was a pleasant distraction from work. My favorite was when he started talking about plastic surgery! The barista(I believe he’s the franchisee also!) was awesome. This dude had a great attitude, was willing to chat and you could tell he takes his coffee seriously. He also offered me some water after I had been there for a good while — super nice dude. Overall it was a cool spot in an otherwise pretty barren downtown. Will stop in again when I am in town!

The best coffee I have had in a long time. With the number of visitors this location gets, I am surprised it’s not got a single review. The baristas are super friendly to start with and you can easily notice that they love their jobs. This place has and will continue to supply my early morning wake up potion. With Cups being this good, «Friends shouldn’t let friends drink at Starbucks».
