We are not ordering food here anymore, I had the BLT that was on special Saturday night, nearly adequate bacon, half toasted bread, couldn’t find the tomato it was so thin and scarce, wife had the beef tenderloin, I don’t know what was inside the breading, it was mushy stove-top looking yuck, her salad was OK, how hard is that though, it too had the thinnest skimpy tomato slices ever, doughy tasting hot bread, , you had better stick to slinging drinks because the waitresses have stepped up their game lately

I’d call it a nice little dive, but I don’t want to insult them lol. Good beer selection(50 taps! many local), friendly/attentive staff(I sat at the bar), awesome burgers, a solid jukebox. And apparently they have great live music on the weekends. Oh, and of course you can take a growler(they’ll even sell you one) of beer to go.

First of all I have to say that we rarely venture out for dinner because we tend to spoil ourselves at home with great home cooking. On those rare occasions we get out we have tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt(it’s on our side of town) but frankly it is hit or miss when it comes to BOTH service and food quality. Last night was a disaster, slow service and when we finally got our food it was literally ice cold. I’m not sure how you manage to cook a steak then chill it before serving but somehow they managed to do it. Sometimes good management can resolve these kinds of issues but they are certainly lacking in that area also. This is not he first time we have had a bad experience here but it is certainly the last. We paid for our drinks and grabbed Wendy’s on the way home.

The cook has no clue what bruschetta is! Served a sliced bread with a melted cheese from the micro wave and put a few diced pieces of tomato on top. Ichy looking and so not like bruschetta. When I sent the plate back and said that was not what I expected to see when I ordered Bruschetta the cook told the waitress to find out what I wanted and she would try to make it. I then looked it up on you tube and told the waitress that the cook could learn from the video. I really liked my black bean burger. Delicious!

Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Haven’t had a really good meal here though and we have been several times. It is always just alright. Nothing really makes you want to go back and try it again. Good place for a relaxing drink and appetizers I guess.

The staff is always fantastic and they have live music on the weekends. The beer selection is huge but the food is good but nothing makes me crave the need to go back for a specific thing on the menu.

Hard Knock has the most beers on tap in Jackson and their liquor selection is fairly extensive too. Food is pretty good. I recommend the chicken cordon bleu wrap pressed on the panini maker. It’s not on the regular menu but they’ll make it for you. Salads are awesome too. Great live entertainment on the weekend.

I still continue to go here occasionally. They’ve added on to their back patio and now have a bar as well as an outdoor cherry wood grill. It’s enjoyable for a group to sit out in the summer time however be sure to let the bartender and servers know you’re out there because the bar outside is usually not staffed. Service here can be inconsistent at tables. I generally sit at the bar. Most of the bartenders are good with the exception of the brunette with blonde streaks in her hair. She is friendly but not very attentive to her customers. More often than not your drink will sit empty for awhile before she offers another. The rest of the bartenders are spot on.

Atmosphere: calm, nice décor, empty Service: Slow, Forgetful, awkward Food: Horrible, Overcooked, Not right, dry, flavorless, over priced Over all: Horrible First of all our server got the drinks wrong… Then the food came out half of the orders were wrong… My sister sent her order back because it was wrong or looked discusting and they still charged her

The food is very expensive and not very good. The service can be very slow. This restraunt was such a disappointment. We gave it several tries in hopes of the food getting better with no luck. We won’t be back even though it is right around the corner from our house. Bad food + expensive= a very blah dinning experience.

I was highly impressed with this place. I don’t think the décor is much to rave about, but the food is a completely different story. I ordered a Cobb Salad, it came out in a beautifully arranged presentation and was fresh and tasty. The appetizer sampler was excellent — the best of bar food appetizers presented nicely and again very tasty. It was worth the trip! Note — they do have live music some nights, if that is not your thing I’d avoid those nights.

Hang out with the locals in Jackson for a good bar scene and consistent food. I have yet to eat a bad meal here. However service is erratic. I only eat at the bar now. Place is big and not enough servers. Sit in the restaurant at lunch at your peril. Still I like it for its small town charm and I like the local flavor.

Great people, friendly atmosphere. Good food. Band playing in the bar was at a reasonable volume. Could still speak at our table. Guiness on draft. Clean bathrooms and clean dining area.

I just had a great time at the Hard Knock Grill! The food was cooked, prepared, and presented perfectly. The menu had a good selection fish, chicken, and beef dishes that anyone but a vegetarian will love.

We sooo wanted to like this place because it’s close by and there’s not much else around here, but we’ve been there about ½ dozen times and basically, the food sucks.

My husband and I have eaten lunch and dinner here several times and the food is reasonably priced and very good. The soup, salads and sandwiches are especially good. We’ve enjoyed the best white chicken chilli soup ever there. We both like a good salad and this place does it right. The place has a bar on one side and a dining area on the other side. The dining area was not very busy when we first started coming for dinner, but lately the word has gotten out that the food is consistently good and it is definitely worth stopping in. They recently hired more wait staff and they are very friendly and attentive. I’m not a beer drinker, but I did notice they were advertising that they had several new beers on tap. I definitely recommend this place.

Went for the first time today, first thing I noticed was the stale, musty unidentified odor(filthy carpets maybe?) The place was filthy, windows were dirty, carpet was stained and dirty, the booths needed a good cleaning, ceiling fans and light fixtures covered in dust. We ordered the artichoke spinach cheese dip with homemade chips, the cheese dip was made with cream cheese with maybe 6 pieces of spinach and no artichokes to be seen. It was horrible, one taste is all we could handle. The chips were over cooked. I ordered a plain regular burger with pickle and mayo on the side. The pickle was a dill spear(clausen’s actually and the best thing on the plate) the mayo was either rancid or a very cheap off brand, the burger was over cooked and dry. My husband and I have been planning on going, but trust me, once was enough. All this for $ 47.00.

Solid bar fare, but a bit on the pricey side. $ 11 for a turkey rueben and steak fries? For a hole in the wall, that is way too much.

Kris and Steve Rose, owners of Napoleon Café, have reopened the former Azalea’s in the style of Tom’s Grill(it’s former incarnation). I’ve eaten there twice for lunch since it opened in March. Both times I’ve found the service friendly and attentive. The food is very good, a step above the burger lunch fare. In particular, the turkey/chipotle club was very good and the steak fries excellent. Can’t miss at the Hard Knock Grill.
