Nice gallery to stop by on a rainy day to look at some fabulous photos by a great photographer. There are three levels and all three are worth checking out.

Beautiful gallery. Stop in if you’re in the area. Ladies working here were very helpful.

This is one of my favorite fine art photography galleries anywhere. Mr. Mangelsen is an extremely gifted and talented photographer. He has photographed all over the natural world, including Antarctica, Alaska, the Serengeti, etc… and is one of the best known photographers of the Greater Yellowstone region. He has art galleries all over the USA, but he is based in Jackson Hole. His prints are breathtaking, absolutely gorgeous, and worthy of hanging in your living room. I could go on and on about his prints, but let me talk about the Jackson gallery itself. The gallery located in downtown Jackson encourages visitors to walk through it casually. They have soothing nature-inspired music playing in the background. If you don’t want to buy any of Mr. Mangelsen’s prints, they also sell books, postcards, cards, and other items. Like the reviewer said before me, this is not a pretentious art gallery. It’s is very laid-back. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you don’t buy anything, they won’t get annoyed. If you do choose to buy something, they do ship. Even if you don’t plan on buying anything, it’s still a great place to browse. Lots of breathtaking landscape and wildlife prints of the Greater Yellowstone region are up, and they are all worth looking at in an effort to appreciate the beauty of this diverse region of the world. Some interesting details of Mr. Mangelsen’s work that I learned from talking to other photographers in Jackson: he lives in the area and shoots A LOT, so he has great chances of getting a perfect print where every element is perfect. He also shoots large format. Apparently, former VP Dick Cheney has a home in Jackson Hole, and he purchased some Mangelsen prints to decorate his home with. His prints are also hanging in Denver International Airport.

I love this place. I bought my second picture from them this past week«rushing the shallows.» Mangelsen is obviously the one who makes it special. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. You don’t get the attitude nor the pretension you might expect at an art gallery.
