Luigi’s Pizzeria

This place was our favorite go-​to spot for quite a while, then there was a change in owners. Unfortunately, while some of the staff continued to be wonderful, there was clearly not a happy vibe. Our favorite waitress left. We stopped eating there as a result and ordered in. We got the wrong order twice, and the third time was the nail in the coffin. We picked up our order and came home with a pizza and random items. Instead of pizza, a large Calzone, 2 salads instead of garlic knots and cheese steak and meatball parm.
I called to report the mistaken order and the owner said they had already figured out the mistake, and the other couple was glad to take our order, but if I wanted to bring the food back, he would make our order again. Ohh-​kay. We weren’t ready to make the drive again, and were quite hungry. He said we made out on the deal. Not really — we paid more money for food we didn’t want. He argued with me repeatedly and finally agreed the next pie was on him. The following week he was willing to give me ½ off 1 of our 2 pizzas. Gee thanks.

My experience has been bothering me. Went in last Thurs. July 2^nd around 3:00, there were 2 people standing around waiting for their takeout. The 1 guy behind the counter (tall, kinda doughy looking, I think he’s the owner) finally acknowledged me. I asked for a medium pie to go, he said with a snarky attitude that I will have to wait, it will take a long time (i’m thinking maybe he has a big order to complete) so I ask how long? He stands there, flailling his arms to imply he has no help and mumbled something, then says it will take 15 – 20 min. huh! that’s how long a pizza normally takes! This guy clearly did not want to make that pizza! I should have left then, the pie was awful, no disrespect to ragu but the sauce was terrible, I hadn’t been there in years and won’t go back!

Pizza is mediocre, nothing to be proud of. There are a dozen other pizzerias which I would have given my business. The staff is very rude and not polite. My friends and I were so disgusted that we left mid meal, threw out our food, paid, and left. Very disappointed. Luigi’s has gone very downhill the past year. I have heard many bad things about their customer service. Now that my friends and I have experienced it first hand, they will not be getting our business anymore.

Allow me to begin by saying that I have been a loyal customer of Luigis for the last two and a half years, often ordering at least once a week. The pizza used to be fantastic from Luigis. Always hot, well seasoned, great sauce and crust. The last few times we’ve ordered, the food has been getting worse and worse, with the best meal (pizza or otherwise) ranking as mediocre. Today was the last time I’ll be ordering from them. Pizza was not only ice cold, it was wrong and one of the most bland meals I’ve ever eaten. Too bad.

I witnessed very bad customer service towards a very polite senior citizen who asked about their discontinued cheesecake. He was told he’d have to pay more for them to bring it back. When he left they were laughing & talking behind his back. On our way out, after eating pizza, we had questioned the high charge. Their response– I remember off the top of my head the cost of large plain pie– it’s less money if you carry-​out or get it delivered. Seriously? Isn’t one large plain pie the same price as one large plain?! They had good pizza before, but now cheese is like chewing plastic & it drips oil like a faucet. Extremely rude service, not worth the price & definitely not worth the up-​charges! I’d put 0 stars if I could. Please support good business’ in our neighborhood.

I love this place! Whenever I’m in town I get some NJ pizza here to take back home. They are always super nice too. In fact today, I arrived before they opened to do just that and they got started on my pizzas even though they didn’t open for another half hour. That’s really going above and beyond IMO. They could’ve said too bad lady! The Grandma’s upside down is my favorite. Love Luigi’s!

There is a bad waitress but overall the basics are amazing. Stromboli knots are worth the trip. The pizza is amazing. The pasta dishes are pretty bland but the PIZZA! (Great pizza place bad pasta house)

Rude owner — horrible food and don’t think of using a coupon here — wouldn’t go back if it was the last place on earth — get Chinese food instead

Very disappointed. This was my 2^nd time here and while the first was good this wasn’t. Everything was burnt. It would have tasted better if not burnt up.

I’ve ordered from here twice, figured I would give them another shot.
The grandmas pie was meh, I’ve had better and decided I wouldn’t eat that again. Then I ordered the Sicilian, this has to be in the top 3 worst pizzas I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve had pizza all over the US. No taste, there was no existence of flavor in the cheese, and the dough was just garbage.
I would never order from here again. Hate to leave horrible reviews but maybe they will read this and change things up.

It started out good and went progressively down hill. On a scale of 1 – 10 I give it a minus one. They should go back to Brooklyn. They’re not gonna make it out here. Im a long time resident of Jackson and they have a long way to go to catch up to some of the bad restaurants. Good luck and good bye. Also the owner needs to take a course in how to deal with people

I never give negative reviews but what a bad first experience. I ordered pizza for delivery — they dropped off the wrong stuff. waited around until they got a hold of the driver — to bring back the same cold food I ordered over an hour before. To top it off — the pizza simply wasnt any good (hot or cold). With that said, i gave them 2 stars instead of one b/​c everyone has off days. i will give them another shot and update if necessary…

Had dinner there several times I always get the linguine with white clam sauce always good Went last night with my husband (his first time) order that dish it was bland I order a veal and shrimp with asparagus and roasted peppers sounds good right NOT was also bland I tend to believe it was the chef there that night (Saturday) But you need to be consistent When I mention it to one of the servers there response was Not my fault WOW Young server not much experience. Should train better Will try again but not on Saturday night Much better when it is the 2 for25 special

These people, seriously, are some of the rudest store owners/​workers we’ve ever encountered. And the pizza was just ‘ok’ but we would go back because it is close to us and out of convenience just continued to put up with their garbage. They would constantly get our delivery wrong, then when you go in the store, most of the wait staff behind the counter could be bothered less it seems. The motto for customers must be «Just stand there, we’ll get to you eventually even though we’re just talking to each other». Last straw was getting one of the owners on the phone and, for the last abused attempt at being a customer, was told «I don’t know, we might have that» and «coupon? You’re wayyy off for a coupon»…nice huh?! Inzillos here we come!

This place is great! I’ve loved everything I’ve tried here. The grandma margherita pizza is awesome! Some of these other reviews seem a little harsh. I’m glad I can say that I’ve had a great experience every time that I’ve been there and the guy behind the counter has been really pleasant and nice. Inzillo’s has a great pizza as well, but overall the other food on the menu at Luigi’s is much better and the menu is bigger. I recommend it to my local friends.

Pizza ok not the best in town. Inzillo’s is way better. Cheese Steak is really good, the meatball parm sub had raw meat in it and was gross.

New owners… Not the same!

Food here is horrible and has no flavor. Everything is right out of a can or frozen — at least season the sauce a little bit!!! Stay away from Luigi’s and go for some real Italian at a place like Solo Bella which is right in town too and 1000 times better.
