This was utterly disappointing. Me and my co-worker came here for lunch. I ordered the Orange chicken with veggie chow mein and my friend ordered the general chicken. We also ordered the crab cheese wontons. The wontons were spot on, but honestly I don’t know this for sure but aren’t these things purchased in bulk and then heated for customers? I don’t know, but it made me wonder, how could this be so perfectly hot, crisp and yummy and their main dish be so Flat, disappointing, tasteless. The chicken was heavily, heavily breaded which lead it to kind of being mushy. It certainly didn’t taste like orange chicken, and looked identical to my friends general chicken. When I pointed this out to her, we exchanged plates and yep– there is no difference in the slightest to the general chicken and the Orange chicken. The chow mein was an equal bummer. It said vegie, but there were only carrots. No broccoli, no cabbage, no onion, no nothing! I think if they added more veggies, and squeezed some orange juice/orange zest into the dish, I might be giving this a much higher rating!

Stop here on our way home from the snow. Umm i have had better Chinese. For the fact that this is was up in the hills & the only one around i see why people like it. I did not care for it. I love Chinese food but this place i would never come back to. Just not up to my standards. Food was greasy. I had green bean chicken. The chicken was all fat, the green beans look & tasted like they were frozen. Soup was nasty, chow main was greasy.

I think the last time I ate here it was called The Great Wall. That was awhile back! Ate here again last week and was pleasantly surprised. The food was better than I remember and good prices, too!

My wife & I stopped in for lunch. She had the General’s Chicken and I had the Honey Walnut Prawns. The meals came with chow mein, fried rice, and egg flower soup. We also ordered the Crab Cheese Wantons. The entrees were excellent as we’re the appetizers. The amount of food was just right for a lunch meal. We are very happy to find such a great Chinese restaurant close to home. We definitely will be going back.

Large portions, good flavor, nice and helpful staff. We are from Southern California, but we love eating here when we are in town!

«Whatever you do in this restaurant’ don’t have a medical emergency! they will not allow you to use their land line(phone) to call 911, they will ask you to use your«own cell phone» to make the CALL… did I happen to mention, cell phones don’t work well in this establishment. Thank God my cell phone did work. Thank You AT&T. Pretty scary to almost lose a member of your family to «anaphylactic shock» all because they’re afraid they’ll be held liable.(REALLY) What’s unbelievable is when the server asked me to take my sister«outside» so she could get some AIR… even after I told the server in a calm manner what was happening… I wanted her to understand the severity of the situation and to call 911 or at least to let me use the phone! Because my sister could barely breathe. even a month after the fact, I’m still shaking my head in disbelief… l cannot believe the server told me NO No… you can not use phone, use your own cell phone… I find this to be a unacceptable and definitely a inappropriate response! To a medical emergency at this restaurant or any restaurant. The 3 – 5 minutes that it took to reroute that 911 call back up to Amador County, could have cost my sister her life. 911 calls on cell phones are rerouted For your information. Thank God my sister made it… after having to spend a week in the hospital she’s recovering well. The only reason why I even put a star rating is because it wouldn’t let me post otherwise

Panda House is one of the best places in the area for quick and easy take-out. The staff is super friendly and fast. They always remember me and pretty much can predict my order. Their Generals Tofu is to die for.

Food was good, about a 7(1 – 10). Had the lunch special, comes with choice of fried or white rice or chow mein. $ 6.95 for Mongolian Beef, comes with soup. Fast, friendly service. If in the area again, will eat there again.

I’m unhappy about pieces of chicken being in my vegetable(specifically vegetarian – stated so) order two times now. I’ve called to complain and got no compensation. «You have to bring it back»

The aroma of sweet savory salty garlicky goodness enticed my taste buds as I walked in! Promptly greeted and seated with a smile. We ordered honey prawns(ok) + chicken chow mien(EXTREMELY good) + sweet and sour prawns(killer) + pork fried rice(ok)+ wonton soup(very comforting on a chilly evening) and then a spicy garlic beef satay of some sort to-go for work the next day … Beef probably would have been better if it were fresh as opposed to microwaved(sad face) but it still hit the spot especially with some white rice as the sauce was very flavorful! Will be returning when back in the area !

Living in the Central Valley, my wife and I occasionally travel through Jackson on the way to the Rancheria, which merits its own criticism… see our comments there. We had been intending to dine at the Panda for some time now, and, now that we have, we have to report we were disappointed. We have eaten at various Asian restaurants for almost a decade and found the food at Panda to be uniformly bland and almost tasteless. The service was distant, but not unfriendly, and did not help compensate for a rather unremarkable dining experience. The only feature Panda has going for it is location, location, location, which probably keeps it in business, similar to Mel’s Diner down the road. If you are planning on visiting the Rancheria, just pass on by through Jackson, for it appears there is little on the menu there…

First time my wife and tried the Panda House. Checked Unilocal and it had fairly good reviews, and driving past there were always lots of cars parked in their lot(always a good sign) so we decided to give it a try for lunch. We arrived about 1pm and were warmly greeted coming in the door. The place was neat and very clean. Service was fast. We both had their lunch specials: I had the Spicy Garlic Prawns with fried rice and chow mein, my wife had the Chicken and Vegetables. We both had the Hot and Sour soup. Soup was delicious, her chicken had nice pieces of white meat. The prawn dish had loads of prawns, more than I even expected. Everything was hot and wonderful. We also had green tea. Total bill came to $ 13.78 with tax! While we there, there must have been another 10 people arrived, so it is popular with the locals and tourists both. We can’t wait to go again!

Panda House is not just the best Chinese food in Amador County, but debatably the best in the foothill region. Why? Consistency. No frills service, an unimpressive interior and location, but consistently tasty, salty, greasy Chinese food at rock-bottom prices. The lunch special, which includes soup, rice/chow mien and a heaping helping of whatever item you choose, is only $ 6! The suspiciously fast service makes you wonder just how fresh the food really is and what’s going on behind the frequently-slammed kitchen doors. Those concerns are put to bed when you taste your meal. Spices and simmering sauces make any shortcomings in the presentation tolerable. The staff is friendly if not a bit shy, so don’t be afraid to ask for what you need and they’ll be more than happy to help you.

Happy with the menu and service. Thought the food could use some more fresh vegetables. A solid 4 stars, not the best chinese food i have ever had, but in a small town its not bad. I would prefer less sauce or fried options, and opt for more veggies and more fresh. We will go back. We ordered the Family meal, which came with some appetizers, soup, rice, and each person selected an entrée, I think it was about $ 11 a person, which I thought was a good price!

This was one of the first places I ever ate at when I moved to Amador. I LOVE chinese food and am a tough critic. But my BF swore that this was one of the best chinese restaurants in northern CA. We ordered crab cheese puffs, my favorite for an appetizer and eggflower soup. The cheese puffs were to die for and the soup was okay. It was actually my first time trying it so I didn’t really have anything to judge it by. I ordered the sweet-n-sour shrimp and my bf, the mongollian beef. When the entrees came I was surprised to see how much food they gave us. It could have probably fed me for three days. And each entrée was delicious. It tasted very fresh. The service is typical for a small chinese restaurant but the servers were very quick to get us more tea and sodas. Since then we have ordered numerous meals, normally at lunch time because it’s cheaper, and have enjoyed each one.

A frequent stop for me now on the way back to the Bay Area from a weekend of riding Kirkwood. I was intrigued by the panda chewing on bamboo Chinese-styled sign without words after driving past it a couple of times. I decided to stop in here thinking it would be mediocre run-of-the-mill rural Chinese cuisine. Wrong I was indeed and I am glad that I was. I’ve now eaten here probably 4 times and each time is consistent and well, well above average. Prices are dirt cheap, service is fast, friendly and efficient. I usually get the General Chicken, but have had the Sesame Chicken as well. The General is a bit better, but both are very good. Get the crab wontons — like a crab rangoon. Theirs are always really, really good. The hot tea is rather average, but the ice water is cold! I know you must think I am crazy by saying a Chinese Restaurant in Jackson gets 5-stars. Well it is not Nan King, but it is damn good nonetheless.
