My favorite place to get sushi! The Mexico Roll is my go-to, but Tony Roll is a good one when I’m feeling like switching up(it has pineapple in it for a sweeter taste). Never had a bad experience there!

The food was better and the restaurant was cleaner before the previous owner sold the business. Food is mediocre. Go somewhere else, you are not missing anything special. Service sucked…

The specialty rolls are huge. They over do the salad dressing. Seaweed salad is fresh. This is a good restaurant close to the interstate. The outside is unassuming and looks like it might be closed.

Best sushi in Jackson. Good portions and prices. Had the Brenda and New Orleans, which I would definaly order again. It’s is also nice to see actual sushi chefs behind the counter at Sakura instead of basic line cooks.

Best sushi in Tennessee, surprisingly is in Jackson! I had the Phoenix, it was amazing and so big I couldn’t eat it all in one setting!

Our experience did not match the previous reviews… Keep this in mind when stopping here. Horrible! I do not no what else to say. Over priced! O’ an the waitress forgot a plate of food for our table. How can you mess up a California roll? They did. lol it was the 4th of July. Maybe they did not want to work. Do yourself a favor, go down the street to the gas station an get a hot dog! Your stomach will be better off– the atmosphere was really«creepy” — or «cold» as my wife said–

I should have known better than to stop in a land-locked city for sushi, but the reviews were so positive… The rolls that we got were bland, and the sashimi was a joke. The regular tuna was the tasteless frozen stuff you get from a grocery store sushi display. The«white tuna» was albacore… like, the stuff from bumble bee in a can. The white fish was flavorless tilapia. We called the manager out on his blatant mislabeling of his products and he condescendingly explained to us that if we’d wanted the real white tuna we needed to ask for«super white tuna.» Since he doesn’t train his staff(our waitress was really trying, but she had obviously not even been educated on the basics of the menu) we had already spent 20 minutes asking questions and waiting while our server ran back to the kitchen to find the answers. It was unbelievable that he would so completely disregard the tenets every other sushi restaurant in the world follows. I guess this place has a loyal fan base with the locals so he wasn’t worried about the experience of a couple of road trippers, but my advice for other travelers is BEWARE!

Wow, mind is blown. How is this place in Jackson TN? I’ve had sushi in Japan, Canada(heavy Asian population), China(Hong Kong the food Mecca etc.), Brazil(Sau Paulo — big Japanese population)… I’ve been to some expensive sushi joints. But the sushi rolls here, wow, good proportion of rice to fish, good roll combination(fish mix, thin layer of fish, more fish mix, more sauces…), great taste! Even the seaweed salad is good. A very memorable meal indeed. If you like rolls, give this place a try. We ate the Pheonix, sunset and Mardi gras. All good.

The food is just ok. The best of our order was the ramen noodles. The sushi was not as fresh as one can expect in a Sushi place. The least bad was the«Mike» roll. The«spicy tuna» and«spicy girl» rolls’s tuna had some taste of lemon in it. The rice was over cooked.

Very suitable for vegetarians! Simple maki but tasty tamago. The miso soup was flavorful but not enough seaweed. The seaweed salad was great deserves 5 stars! The sweet dill cucumbers at the bottom of the salad was a good surprise! The tea was a little disappointing it’s just green tea, but was not hot enough and missing green herb. I’m impressed for the good location and service, the food was extraordinary for the location. I can’t about the fish thou! However once in town again will stop by again. The prices were very nice.

Many other places have opened and copied what Sakura has done. This is still the best sushi in Jackson and possibly the best I have had. Since going under new management I believe the service is better. Agree with other reviewers that it was bad at one point. I always sat at the sushi bar and got great service. I really enjoy the Pickwick roll and the yellow tail sashimi.

I know it sounds strange, but one of the best sushi places in the Country is in Jackson, TN! I have been coming here for about 14 years whenever I am near Jackson. They have never let me down. Their rolls are creative and the choice is spectacular! There are so many to choose from it is hard to decide what to get but whatever you decide, the fish is always fresh and delicious! If you are in Jackson, give it a try! I can suggest the Phoenix Roll, the Sunset Roll and the Alfredo Roll for sure.

Sakura is my gold standard sushi restaurant I judge all other sushi restaurants against. They have a great selection of rolls, many of which are very creative. Lots of cooked and raw rolls to try. The key to good sushi is the rice. And sakura does a good consistent job with their rice every time. Service is outstanding and the sushi chef knows his regulars and puts effort to know everyone. His sister owns the place and he’s been there for over 10 years. I’ve been to Sakura maybe a dozen times. He recognizes me and remembers my name, even though I’m an out of towner that visits seldom. But each time I go in I just tell the chef to bring me two rolls and I’ve never been disappointed. I make sure I come to Sakura every time I’m in town. I haven’t found sushi this good anywhere else!

This used to be our ABSOLUTEFAVORITE sushi place ever; however, they’ve recently had a leadership/ownership change and the restaraunt has gone down hill significantly. The fish isn’t as fresh as it used to be. The rolls are filled with cucumber as a filler. The rolls aren’t made properly so they don’t stay together when you pick them up… and the list goes on. If you are going to eat sushi in Jackson, do yourself a favor and either go to Asia Garden or Geisha. Seems that the people who knew how to make sushi from Sakura have gone to one of these two places.

Though their maki roll list seems endless, most of them seemed to repeat the same 3 ingredients of shrimp, crawfish and/or «crabstick». I decided instead to go for the beef sukiyaki, which was fairly cheap at $ 7.50 for a dinner entrée. It was decent enough, though I think I would have been better off trying the Mexican place across the street.

The negative reviews from 08 need to be taken out. The sushi at Sakura is better than any sushi anywhere in the area. Jackson and Germantown(Memphis) are the 2 locations and you will not be dissatisfied. The Sushi may seem to be more expensive that what you are used to but the rolls are massive and 1 – 2 will fill up anyone. This is a great Sushi Spot. You will not be disappointed.

Been eating here since college. I like to come in for early weekday lunches these days — though there is usually a line at the door before opening at 11am, they get everybody in and seated quickly. For appetizers, I like edamame. I used to get gyoza, but they changed the recipe to shrimp, which my husband can’t eat. The new recipe is tasty, but not the same now that my family can’t share. I like to get an entrée just for the salad — both dressings are delicious! There are a lot of very tasty and complicated sushi recipes with full explanations in the back of the menu. You can ask for substitutions. The ingredients always seem quite fresh. The food is reliable and, barring changes noted on the menu, will be the same from visit to visit. The wait staff’s performance is hit or miss — sometimes they are great, sometimes they seem under-scheduled, and sometimes they just don’t seem to care. The owner can be seen running around filling different roles and schmoozing with diners. I wish they would open up their hours for mid-afternoon sushi cravings.

This is not your run of the mill sushi place. This place has a passion for making extremely beautiful and incredibly appetizing rolls. Many of the rolls are more than enough food for one person. My favorites are the Alfredo Roll, the Bubba Roll, and the Sunset Roll. I have had good luck with the service. The rolls can take 15 – 20 minutes to come out, but hey, it ain’t fast food! The menu also includes a variety of other goodness. The gyoza are excellent, and the tempura items on the menu promise to feed the pickiest of eaters. There is lots of seating and the service is usually quite good. I have been dining here for six years now, and will continue to dine here many more. This really is one of Jackson’s finest!

It is okay sushi. Can’t comment on the other food… If you are like me and most sushi eaters, you would like to have awesome sushi not just okay. Considering that it is in a city with more of a «small town» mentality, this is one of the few choices for sushi. If you are familiar with what awesome sushi really tastes like and are in the mood for some fabulous rolls, then skip this place and drive to Memphis. If you want fantastic sushi take a drive to Birmingham to Thai Emerald. If you gotta settle for a Jackson sushi restaurant drive to the South Side of town. Also, this restaurant seems to be popular so it tends to be very busy, service can be slow and the price is too high for the quality and lack of flavor you get.
