Excellent blend of flavors… curry chips are deceptively delicious. College-age crowd. Wish they had more beers on tap though!

Good food. Friendly staff. Fresh take on the menu items. Sit outside and people watch. Bring some change for some of the more colorful locals.

Dear Chomp Chomp, I am having such a great lunch that I had to write you a review as I sit in your new bar. This Bahn MI is freaking delicious, the service is personal and great, and the ambiance is awesome. I can’t wait to come back and try everything. Ps: Wine and beer selections are solid and the special«Gustavo Fring» was delicious and aptly named. Until next time! Love, Jaimee

Tried the downtown Chomp Chomp twice — wasn’t that impressed. Drove by, it was open in Avondale, thought I’d try it again. Almost immediately was gonna give it a bad review. The service was slow — the staff looked way overwhelmed for a half full house on a Tuesday night. And the bar was tiny. However, I went for the Philadelphia Experiment. It was salty, but delicious and I want it again! I’m a bit more of a believer now. The atmosphere tries to blend the laid back atmosphere with a more formal sit down environment, which is kind of a failure so far. But I expect that may just be that it opened literally this week. I’ll give it a try again later to see if it improves. I didn’t try the burger — my usual MO, and the item on the menu id been disappointed with in the past. Try something else on the menu! Unique sandwiches, and I loved my experiment. The steak fries were on point too. I wish it well, and I think it’ll be good. I wish there was more on the menu for the future. It seems like the kind of establishment, especially considering the neighborhood, that would have a wider array of new and unique foodstuffs.

I have to admit… I was a little worried. The source of one of my favorite sandwich creations the«West-sider» actually moved to the Westside. My fears were unfounded as tonight my West-sider was better than ever! They now have a steak fry as a side and the beer was ICE cold. Friday afternoon perfected… well almost. It would be perfect if it was on an island but for 3220X/J-ville it was perfect. And Ian the new host/server/jester ROCKS! A funny guy walking around greeting guests and running food… a great asset. Ask him about his black eye. He loves that!!! Chomp Chomp… you got it going ON! Thanks

Omg, The Vegan Ban mi with Tofu was delicious and here I never thought I liked tofu. I guess I never had it prepared to such perfection! I’m going back today, yesterday was my first time. The hype is certainly warranted!

Their new location is amazing! Tons of seating, same great food, and now they serve beer and wine. Lunch time is still counter service, but dinner is table service. Great stuff from Chomp, per usual.

Chomp Chomp just moved to the Westside. I took a drive over to the new spot for their first Saturday night in business, and I was really, really disappointed. There are some good things and some bad things. Keep in mind I’ve come to Chomp Chomp for over a year now, I’ve NEVER had a bad experience, and I always insist on taking my friends/visitors here, because it was truly my favorite place in Jacksonville. The Good –New place means WAY more space. There’s seats inside and a big outdoor patio outside. –Parking is easier than it was downtown. Across the street had a long line of diagonal spots, so you don’t have to walk 4 blocks or use a parking garage to get there. –They expanded the menu — in addition a few new sandwiches, there are now steak fries, and a side of the day(yesterday was asparagus) option, in addition to their famous curry chips. –They can now serve beer and wine, and they have an awesome happy hour. –Expanded hours = way easier to get your chomp fix The Bad –There’s table service now. Gone are the days where you can order at the register, take a seat, and wait for your order to be called. Now you seat yourself, and someone comes over to take your order/serve you. I don’t know if it was«first weekend jitters» or what happened, but my service was completely spotty and terrible. I sat myself(at the shakiest table ever) and I had a different person take my order, bring out the food, bring me my check, take my card, and bring the card back out. No one came over to ask if I was okay, although I did see the managers/owners talking to the other customers. This place isn’t big enough to really warrant the need for 6 waitresses. –Again, I’m hoping this was«first weekend jitters,» but the meal I had was the worst I’ve ever eaten at Chomp. I ordered my usual(the Westsider with chips). The sandwich I got had maybe a teaspoon amount of hot sauce on it, and the chips had no curry flavor to them whatsoever. I would gladly drive an hour to get a Westsider(seriously, the best sandwich ever), but this had no flavor to it whatsoever. Given how spotty the service was, I couldn’t flag down a server to order a side cup of sauce or some seasoning. I’ll be back to try out Chomp again, once all the new stuff settles down. I’m hoping this was just a random occurrence, since I really love this place.

So the only ONLY reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fact that while sitting outside my friend and I got asked like 5 times for money or food from homeless people walking by. Outside of that the food was a steal! I had the Bahn Mi(my first one ever). I’m a big fan. Juicy tasty pork, not dried at all. This had some fresh cilantro and a baguette with some pickled vegetables. It was a great balance as I tasted everything together and was just a great match. Funny thing is my friend who goes there a lot thinks there are a lot of other items better!!! We also split a special they had which was gnocchi with a rendered bacon/balsamic sauce and asparagus. Man did it go together. Look I’ve been to Italy so I’m not going to say it’s the best gnocchi I’ve ever had but the combination was so unique and flavorful it may have been the best way of having it(if that makes sense). Not sure if the guy was the owner or just working there but he was great. One time he noticed my friend and I getting solicited and he came out to see what was going on. The guy was in a wheelchair asking for food. Instead of just shooing him away he went and got some of their homemade chips and have him a bag and asked him to leave. Pretty classy if you ask me. Over all — very cool vibe with really good food for really good prices.

This is a real Hole in the wall, two or three tables, and a bathroom you have to sit in the toilet to close the door. That should not stop you because the food is super yummy and the bahn mi is one of the, no I think it was the best I’ve ever had! The staff is nice and the service is fast if it’s not during a rush. We met friends here that like the bahn mi so Much they order two eat one for Lunch and save one for dinner!

Chomp Chomp has a simple menu with a few options($ 8 each). However, there is a secret to the menu! You can get any of the items on the menu as a salad, taco or sandwich. I was not the biggest fan of the jerk chicken salad, however the panko chicken sandwich was delicious! The sandwich comes with a side of curry chips. These were very good. As for the atmosphere, it is very hole-in-the-wall. There are only a few tables inside and it is quite hot. I like coming here when the weather is nice, because they have seating outside and quick service.

Amazing place! I was in Jacksonville for one night for a concert and looked for a quick bite to eat. This place is conveniently located in downtown Jacksonville. The food is amazing! I had the BBQ pork sandwich with salad and it was out of this world! I hope to be back here next time I’m in town.

Duuuuude… So glad we don’t have these in SoCal! I’d be a big fatty if we did. I was visiting for the week. I had no idea what to order for breakfast, so I asked the guy and he picked a gem! The Five with an egg was the BOMB! B&G on another level. I came back on the next day and got a Farmhouse deal, which was super good too. Good thing I was able to fit my pants after this trip. Cheers this place is super good. ROADTRIP!

Chomp Chomp Burger***** Hidden Gem… Fun place to be in and around. Staff is cool and funny. Sit at the order counter for an in your face experience or sidewalk for some air. Original home made curry chips are phenomenal.

The place fills up really fast due to its small size and the fact that it has fantastic food! I’m not sure that they are aware of the uniqueness of what they have. They have been here 4 years and should be either a larger place or invest in a new location. The food, the chips, the love that is in the food is one for the books!

Great sandwich shop for lunch. This ain’t just some basic sandwiches you can make at home. The place is a little more hole in the wall which adds to the charm. The South Carolina BBQ sandwich was very filling and had that signature mustard sauce: the side salad was surprisingly delicious — well dressed and with a variety of greens with good texture and bitterness to balance be sauce. For $ 8 you don’t get much better than this for value.

First time here. Super friendly staff. The place on the inside is very small and that’s okay but, because their food is so good they are very busy and don’t have enough seating on the inside. They do have plenty of outside seating with those torch heater thingy. Unfortunately 2 out of 3 were not working today. We were lucky to be under a working one. It was a bit chilly today. I got the jerk chicken sandwich that came with curry chips. The chips were interesting… I liked it but would prefer to have fries. But they said they don’t offer fries. the chicken was very juicy and I will definitely get this again. My friend got the Waldorf salad. She said it was good. And it looked very good to me. I think I’ll get this salad on my next visit. Even the guy sitting next to us said it’s very good. All in all, good cheap food. I love it. The only reason for not giving them 5 stars is the lack of seating on the inside and how loud the music was, it really was loud. Actually, with it being cold out, there were a few empty seats on the inside but I’m guessing cause of the loud music, others sat outside too

Suggestions: The Westsider(buffalo chicken sandwich) or the Chomp Burger Price: $ 8 per order Pros: Everything I’ve tried has been delicious, pretty cheap considering, love the pricing set up. Cons: Very small with almost no inside seating, parking could be difficult at times. Thoughts: I was honestly really surprised as to how good this place really is. I had heard about it from several people and the reviews were promising but it doesn’t exactly look the the place that will make the best buffalo chicken sandwich you’ve ever eaten in your life, but that’s pretty much what happened. I was working a valet event a few blocks away and we decided to run here and get food, given the reviews. When I over it took a minute to find, even though I pretty much knew where it was. I mean this place is so small it makes broom closets look big, then I stepped inside and didn’t really think it looked like much. I’m a reader, I really should know better than to judge a book by its cover, shame on me. I did love the pricing set up; no matter what you order its $ 8 plus tax. When the food was done 10 minutes later I was absolutely BLOWN… AWAY, as were the other fellas I was with. All together we ordered the Chicken Satay, Westsider, Chomp Burger, and chicken tacos and every single item was delicious. I would have to say the winner though is the Westsider. I know a few places to get a good burger, but I have NEVER had a buffalo chicken sandwich this good. The actual piece of chicken breast is big, juicy and tender. The breading is near perfect, crunchy and flavorful without being too overwhelming; we’ve all had those chicken sandwiches that are really breading sandwiches with a little chicken inside, this isn’t one of them the ratio of chicken to breading is SPOTON. As if that wasn’t enough the sauce is something beyond an effective description, it is the absolutely wonderful and while you may find a different«regular» you absolutely must try this. The only real downside to this place is that parking can get difficult if it’s crowded since it is city street parking. The seating is also fairly limited indoors so its probably in your best interest to either get something to go, or plan on eating outside.

Fairly new to Jax, just watched Kenny Rodgers at the Florida Theatre, I’ve had a few drinks and I tell my friend I’m hungry. She gets a sly grin on her face and says we’re going for a little walk. What does she delight me with? Chomp Chomp. Having met in New York, her taking to Chomp Chomp reminded me of those hole in the wall, eclectic, mom and pop spots you find throughout the city. There’s a «sidewalk» dining area, if it can be called that, a smattering of tables and a few bar stools at a shockingly bright counter. There are stickers, and a lot of character in the clientele and in the workers. Being a somewhat picky eater, I let it all go and told her to order for me. The food is eclectic, very well priced and oh so good. The tacos were absolutely amazing. Who doesn’t love this street taco type of dish after a few cold ones? Being a Southsider, this place was amazing, but not the type of place I’d give 5 stars or drive all the way to unless I’m already in the area for an event.
