I’m generally a fan of Firehouse Subs as they are a bit tastier than your typical Subway sandwich. However, I have to be careful with my selection because they also pack on a lot more calories.
This location is pretty standard — the employees are nice and the service is quick.

So this is basically a Quiznos meets a Subway. Not to be a hater on Firehouse Subs, which is a local North Florida chain, but, I just wasn’t impressed. Now, this has nothing to do with this location. The staff was so nice, the place was clean, but the sandwich itself? Not that big of a fan the combo of soft bread, heated up deli meats and cold veggies. It just didn’t work for me. Now, to preface, I am a sandwich snob. No doubt. I’ve eaten many a sub in my hey day and this one, not memorable. However, I am unsure of the local Florida sandwich competition, so this place may be tops, just proceed with caution.
Sorry Firehouse/North Florida, I got love for your beaches but none for this spot.

Quick, friendly, tasty subs best subs in Jax until an Earl of Sandwich arrives, then Firehouse will be a very close second. :) Hard to beat a fresh Hook & Ladder. Mmmm.

If you’re looking for something to eat for lunch or dinner and don’t want to sit at a restaurant or spend a fortune … or if you’re just looking for a hearty sandwich to fill you up, this is the place! Firehouse has fantastic sandwiches that are reasonably priced and they’re super yummy!
Much better than Quiznos or Subway. Anytime that I’m craving a sandwich and too lazy to make one, this is where I go!
