Again with the cute little boutiques… I love boutiques. They do seem to basically sell all the same things, more or less, with perhaps some different labels sewn onto the hemlines. But, the large majority of them are relatively pricey, sell cute tops, cute dresses, cute accessories, are fashion forward, and somewhat lean towards the preppy end of the spectrum. Petal, a wonderful boutique on the Avondale Strip [St. Johns Ave.], definitely fits the MO. It is pretty small, by comparison, inside a relatively tiny building. It still manages to sell a variety of things that are young and hip. Their selections are a mixture of sophisticated and edgy, ie a tame mini dress, but in a funky, shiny fabric. Or large, bold purses. Or exaggerated tops with tight dark jeans. I really like this store a lot. I don’t shop here very much because I am not often privy to spending $ 75 on a tank top [a very nice tank top]. It is understandable that it is set in the Avondale neighborhood, known for being upscale and artistic.

For as funny a city Jacksonville is, Petal is an amazing boutique. This little gem of a store had a huge amount of Orla Kiely, plus it carried Woo, 12th St, Hudson Jeans, Adina Jewelry, and other great designers.
