If you happen to be downtown near the south bank and you want to get a late bite, St. Johns Provision Co. located inside the Double Tree Hotel is a solid place to eat. The actual restaurant is nicely decorated and has ample seating. However, if you come here with a large group, the space may be a little tight or they may have to break your group down to smaller ones to accommodate everyone. It’s more of an intimate setting for a lower profile customer. We ordered the fried green tomato appetizer, a pork chop plate with garlic mash, a burger with a ton of French fries, a Caesar salad and their Reuben to share. Everything was seasoned well, cooked to our specifications and came out at the optimal temperatures. Large portions, solid food. The only downside was that they were totally out of crab cake everything and our food took way too long to come out. However, the Light Boat Parade was going on downtown, there was a wedding at the hotel and the kitchen got slammed with room service orders, so I will give them a pass for that. Good thing we weren’t in any rush, right? Overall, this was my first time here. Apparently, the name of the restaurant was recently changed to what it is now. I would definitely revisit the restaurant for another meal if I’m in the area. Our server was very attentive and apologetic, the experience was decent considering the circumstances and the prices were not too shabby for a hotel location.
