Up in Smoke BBQ food truck is onsite at Metro Square Office Park every other Tuesday. One of my favorite food truck that comes here. Very generous with their portions and prices are pretty reasonable for the amount of food you get. I’ve had the ribs, beef brisket, and pulled pork slapper. They are moist, tender, and flavorful. Each time, I was stuffed. Just make sure you have your dental floss handy. Is it Tuesday yet?

This is the worst bbq I have ever had… I paid $ 11 for over cooked fries, too much mayo in the coleslaw, and the brisket was all fat. Never eating there again… I have not had anything good from this truck. Very disappointed because this truck is constantly at my office.

Decent bar-b-que that is a good concept but I’ve got to admit it’s just not very satisfying or flavorful. The pulled pork was a bit on the fatty side, not very flavorful and the sauces were just average. The fries were good. The staff was really nice too. But honestly I don’t think I’d eat here again.

Up In Smoke has been coming to my office complex for months and I’ve eaten there many times so I’ve decided to go ahead and write a review. This is probably some of best BBQ in Jax! They have phenomenal salads with smoked chicken, pork, brisket which comes with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, bacon, cheese, croutons and a spring leaf mix, I highly recommend their salads. The pulled pork is amazing and moist. The brisket is very tender and tasty. The truck serves customers quickly and the employees are very friendly and helpful when needed. If you haven’t eaten at Up In Smoke then you gotta try it.

The owner of this company needs to learn how to act and talk to his customers. I was at Rockville and his worker behind the counter just stared at me they took the tip jugs away so I stepped to the side and was asking the guy standing there staring at if the were still serving and the owner comes over and starts pushing me and cussing at me to get back. What the hell is all I could think. All he has to say for treating me this way was I have money back here. I wouldn’t eat his food you might wind up with his attitude because it’s either in the food or this guy was drunk or on drugs. I’ve never been treated by a business or person like this in my whole life. I’ve met nicer bouncers at night clubs.

At the Bud and Burgers food truck extravaganza today. Great and creative BBQ sandwiches and plates, homemade sauces(today’s was the Budweiser BBQ sauce, very tasty) and great service. What I ordered: The«Moink» — Smoked burger with pulled pork, with a side of fries. The sandwich was fantastic. Full of flavor, the pork was really moist and juicy, the burger was perfectly cooked, and the smoke flavor came through wonderfully. The seasoning on the fries was excellent. My friends had the pulled pork with cole slaw and a side of mac n’ cheese. The mac n’ cheese was awesome, fantastic flavor and goes beyond the regular mac you are used to having. Thoughts: All the food was awesome, and the portion is generous. However, they didn’t have a big drink selection. I feel a bigger variety of soda, lemonades, and even alcoholic beverages would supplement the food perfectly. Overall a fantastic food truck that provides plentiful and delicious homemade BBQ.

Decent BBQ. I had their food at a beer festival in Jax in late 2014(can’t remember what it was called). I’ve only been here once, but plan on coming back for more. I don’t know what the name of the food was, but it was pulled work pilled on top of mac and cheese and a few other things doused with sauce. It was pretty good. Certainly not healthy, but i enjoyed it!

Nice people with nice service, but mediocre pulled pork. I ordered a meat bowl with pulled pork, fries, and nacho cheese on top. It was drenched in nacho cheese and I couldn’t taste the flavor of the pork. After that every bite of meat was either covered in fat or stuck together like it was sliced and not pulled. I’m sorry but the only thing good about wasting my $ 8 was the fries buried under everything else.

This was the third or forth time I have eaten at Up In Smoke and, until now, I had not been very impressed. It is good food – don’t get me wrong – but I didn’t have that«whoa buddy!» moment that I look for in a truly 5-star dining experience… until I had the pulled pork-topped cheese fries. Holy cow!(That’s a «whoa, buddy!» with an exponent.) Picture this: a basket full of fresh, crispy fries, drizzled with cheese, then generously-topped(more like covered) with smoked pulled pork, and topped with sweet and tangy barbecue sauce. If your mouth isn’t watering, you need to have your pulse checked! :) It was that smack-in-the-face«wow!» that I had been waiting for from Up In Smoke. I am hooked now!

i admit it. im new to the food truck trend. and im not a huge bbq fan. if you still like me enough to read the review, please do i was at the Jaxsons Night Market because i just KNEW i had to get onboard with food truck food. after walking around and looking at all the selections available i decided to try up in smoke, partly cause i thought the name was catchy, and partly cause the menu choices made my mouth water a little. im so glad i did after only a short wait i ordered a slider and chose the traditional style, and also a side of fries. my name was put on my order with a post it note, i paid only $ 6 and change, and was told it would be a few minutes. while i waited i noticed they have paper towels and EVERY condiment you could ever want on a shelf outside along with plastic eating utensils. very handy I stood there for only a few moments, taking in the sights, drinking a local beer, and my food was ready! they called my name, opened the box and reminded me what i ordered, and man did it look amazing. for such a reasonable price, they really packed that little slider bun with pulled pork! it was topped with cole slaw and kept together with a toothpick, which was needed cause again, this sucker was exploding with yummy pork. the fries on the side were tossed in their seasoning blend. and crispy awesomeness. also a really large portion for the price. all in all, im so glad i gave the food truck thing a try, and even more glad that i went with a bbq option that i normally wouldnt have. yum, yum, yum. ill be looking to see where up in smoke is in the future

I haven’t been to The Up In Smoke Truck in a while. Then somebody was asking me about the best BBQ in Jax. I think I found one of the best(no not my porch) in town. Today I was treated to a new recipe for pork ribs and a new sausage, some killer pulled pork and some blacken chicken. Tom and I talked a lot today about bbq on his truck and in this town. He has been playing with his rib recipe and a few options to the cooking process. Well he found the secret and I ate some today. The ribs were super moist(not an easy thing to do) and still hard a good crust to them. The smoke flavors are still there like they have been. Then he has a new sausage(not mine) that he’s serving. Someplace in Ga. and let me say it good, it’s really good and I know sausage. Then he shared some pulled pork with me and that is also as good as it gets. Moist, tender, and a good bark. Everything that you would want in PP. The whole meal was so tasty and Tom is definitely the man when it comes to the Q. The Up in Smoke Truck does have some surprises in the works so hang on the your belly for this ride is going straight to Flavor Town.

We have different food trucks in our parking lot at work off Belfort Parkway throughout the week. Up in Smoke usually frequents us on Fridays. The first thing I have tried from them was the beef brisket, super moist and tender but a very fatty cut. I ate half and saved half for later but once it cooled and the fat congealed I couldn’t even look at it, there was fat everywhere! So at Met Park at The Big Ticket I see a familiar sight of a bright red, shiny BBQ truck and decided to give another shot. I ordered some kind of fries with pulled pork and nacho cheese on top… OMG heaven! I’m not sure what special seasoning they use on their fries but they had the best flavor I have ever had for fries and were super crispy, smothered in nacho cheese and with some meat on top, man, it was amazing! If nothing else I would give them 5 stars for their fries, but I think they also get points for their amazing smoked meats and flashy ride ;)

I was so glad I finally stopped and tried Up in Smoke last night at The Big Ticket even down at Metro Park. First off they were by far the best food available out there. Unfortunately we did not realize they were even there until we had already wasted money on a chicken sandwich from one of your typical over priced food vendors that did nothing to satisfy our hunger. For $ 9 we got the Meat Bowl(which I sadly did not get a picture of) which consisted of French fries topped with pulled pork and shredded cheese(typically it’s served with nacho cheese but they had urn out of it so they compensated by adding A LOT of shredded cheese to make up for it)! then we added their Sweet and Hot sauces to the top of that… SOFREAKINGGOOD! We also sprung for the side of mac and cheese($ 4) and it tasted just like the kind your grandma would make and serve at Sunday lunch! I can’t wait to find Up in Smoke again to try more of their amazing BBQ!

I might have espected to much. Finally find a food truck and it’s at 9 something at night and a line that’s about to wrap around a church. I find someone I know and skip :-). We make our way to the front — thinking it’s going to be hard to figure out what we want — the smells are delicious. But the menu was pretty limited. Plates were packed. We almost dropped them a couple of times as we snatched up napkins and curiously looked over the sauces. They all said«Sweet» Tried it — it wasn’t sweet? Kinda tart? I had the sandwich that was also loaded with mac n cheese and a side of baked beans. I bit into the sandwich and was immediately disappointed. It wasn’t bad — I was just exspecting more? The meat was tender but the flavors stil felt bland? especially within the mac n cheese. The baked beans were great though.

I had a superb lunch experience at this down-home food truck today! After consulting my handy, dandy Jax Truckies Facebook page, I decided to use my lunch break to hunt down a tasty meal on wheels. Up In Smoke BBQ was listed at Capital Plaza in Deerwood Park and, after a few wrong turns, I finally found the bright red, generator-powered BBQ mobile parked in front a shady walkway with outdoor tables. I stepped up to order and the woman working inside could not have been nicer. I decided on a traditonal pulled pork sandwich(known here as the Wilber) with a side of their special recipe mac n’ cheese, named Chee Chee Mac. For my drink, I had to try a sweetened Chong-O Tea, traditional southern tea with a hint of Mango. After I ordered, the operator chatted me up about the truck’s future plans, which include spending Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Deerwood spot. She also mentioned that her partner(who was busy preparing our meals with lightning speed) formerly owned a cajun restaurant, and that we could expect to see some Creole flavor sneaking into their menu as soon as the Fall. Can’t wait! My sandwich was ready by the time I could grab a napkin and a straw. I helped myself to a couple self-serve sides of sauce(BBQ Mustard and a Sweet & Mild.) When I opened my to-go box, the first thing I noticed was that pork was positively pouring out of the bun! It smelled delicious and I couldn’t wait to pour sauce all over it and dig in. The bun was warm and buttery, the meat tender and flavorful and the sauces were just watery enough to seep into the meat without overwhelming it. Savory, smoky, and just scrumptious! The Chee Chee Mac was delightful. I’m a litle picky about my Mac, and have been turned off in the past by too dry, too creamy or even too cheesy versions of the classic. Up in Smoke does it right, with elbow noodles in a JUSTRIGHT creamy, cheesy mixture thats baked until the golden cheesy crust with herbs gets nice and crispy. The Chang-O tea was quite possibly my favorite part of the meal, and the refreshing fruitiness practically danced when paired with the smoky, cheesy southern food. Up in Smoke delivers legit BBQ, yummy sides and down-to-earth, cool service. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for them in Jacksonville’s food-truck-friendly parking lots!
