busy bar during this spring break travel time. The orders were electronic on their mini pads at each chair. The payment system is credit or debit only(for the most part). The credit card swipe did not work for the person I was with and they had to swipe on my pad and then the orders got confused and delayed. It took a while to get someone’s attention and abt 20 minutes to get things situated and get their food and draft beer. I would recommend IF you have TIME to kill and have the PATIENCE to deal with a little hassle. My friend did not like the burger, I enjoyed my spinach dip and pretzel slices to complement.

The food and service at this crappy airport restaurant was so abysmal that when I read the favorable reviews of this restaurant in Unilocal I am not just forced to wonder if we ate in the same restaurant, but if we inhabit the same planet. Or if they have ever even eaten at a restaurant before. It was so bad that I am not saying that anyone who gave it a favorable review should be waterboarded, but I am also not saying they shouldn’t be waterboarded.

Dear Lord this place irritated me. I walked in and you see tables with iPads. What’s my firs thought? Grab a seat, order some food. NO! NO! NO! Little lady yelling at me saying I must wait to be seated. I look, but there’s no line. I ask, can I sit here. «No, go there and wait please.» Okay, walk over, no sign or anything saying I need to wait to be seated. Seat at the bar opened up so I sat there, I think it irritated little lady. Oh well. I sit down and I order what I want on the iPad. Nothing goes through. Guy next to me is having the same issue. I ask the bartender to give me a hand and he comes over, starts beating the ipad, resets it, beats it some more. No wonder it wasn’t working. Then other people are having the same issue. I ask if he can just put my order in. Nope, they have«the system». Clearly it wasn’t working but it didn’t matter. He finally gets my ipad to work after 10 minutes and I get my meal 15 after that. Still there were so many issues with the whole thing. I still had to hand him my card to pay since the ipad wouldn’t take it. Food was greasy and bland, beer was flat, bar was way too loud(music and staff yelling at each other). No, I will not be back here. Maybe if you get real waiter service but still, you need to improve on the food.

So you have to order through iPads and add the tip upfront but frankly based on the really bad, overpriced burger(how difficult can it be to get your burger ‘medium’?) as well as the pretty bad service they don’t deserve any tip at all.

I didn’t expect to write this. The food was edible. But overpriced. That is the problem with airport foods. Great price=cardboard. Good food=mortgage payment. It is very very VERY noisy. Music is pumped up to add«ambiance». I had fingerling potatoes, a dining companion had chicken sandwich. Both were more than passable. The waitstaff were friendly, but very busy. No one rushed us to turn over tables. This was one nice feature, as your meal should allow you some buffer from the maddening crowds. It was also nice that the wait staff noticed I had a sour look on my face and was quite shocked by tht taste of the lemonade. He whisked it away and brough back another. It had been lacking in symple syrup as had been promised on the menu. I didn’t have to ask. THAT is what gets 4 stars. High class service by everyone from hostess to the waiters.

Don’t get beer here. Traveling with kids, the iPads on the tables were great. Everything else was terrible. We had four different beers, all of which tasted terrible due to dirty draft lines(I’ve had all these beers before and normally they are all excellent). The wings were fried to a crisp(they crumbled) and when we called our server using the iPad, nobody showed up. Nice enough people, just terrible everything else.

Some staff members are obnoxious, the food is an odd combination of faux gourmet dishes and over priced, but it is clean and the friendlier staff members are very attentive.

This place, like the other restaurants in the airport, had iPads on the table allowing people to order and do everything from their table. From an accessibility stand point it was AWESOME. There was even a button to ask a server to come over. The issue was that nobody came when we pressed the button. Nobody was walking around making sure drinks were full. And when they forgot part of our order, I had to walk to the bar to get help because no one came back to our table. Aside from the service, the food was pretty mediocre. We order two appetizers to share and each got an entrée. One of the people in our party started feeling sick before the meal was over, and the other members of the party weren’t super impressed. Next time we have a layover here we will definitely choose one of the other restaurants.

I was just looking for a snack, and this place had a nice range of small plates. The hostess was very friendly and helpful with assisting me in figuring out how to order something to go. I ended up going with the Brussels sprouts small plate. Overall, this dish was okay. The Brussels sprouts tastes fresh, though the Caesar dressing seemed a bit bland. It wasn’t the most exciting dish, but it was close enough to what I was looking for. The toasted bread that came with it was a nice touch. I would definitely consider checking out one of their sandwiches next time I am here.

The iPad ordering is ridiculous. I feel bad for the staff who have to deal with this. A frustrating way to throw away money at the airport.

Miserable iPad ordering system. Whoever got paid to implement this system clearly hates consumers. Fine airport food. Service as good as can be expected given most of their job has been outsourced to robots. In all, it’s an airport and you are trapped. So they have no reason to change anything. But these iPads are AWFUL.

This place is as any local bar with an upgrade, all the fancy iPads to order your food is a waste. The waiter still comes to make sure your using it right(don’t you think you might as well take my order then just saying). Oh yeah«No Cash Allowed» so sucks if your not in the mood for charging. The food is not impressing would of been just as satisfied with Wendy’s.

The iPad ordering systems is terrible. I hated it and almost left. The card reader didn’t work so we had to use the next one over. I had the veal Bockwurst with kraut and it was really ok for airport food. Not sure why I lower my standards in airports… Food was hot, beer was cold, waitstaff was nice and helpful.

Overpriced, loud, and it requires you to order through these stupid iPads. The staff is friendly and understands how awful the experience it is, and they do their best to make up for it. Heaven forbid there just be a regular airport bar at Terminal 2.

Not much of a menu choice if a vegetarian. Actually no entrees, one sandwich, and a couple of appetizers. That’s the first downfall. The second downfall is the poor ventilation from the cooking area. Unbearable Ventilation was sooo bad that my hair absorbed the burnt smell and stunk for hours after. Do yourself a favor and eat before you get here. Now let me write about the actual food that came to my table. A poor excuse for a vegetable sandwich ! In between two pieces of half toasted cold bread was a very thin slice of red pepper, yellow zucchini, green zucchini, a dash of sun dried tomato, and a smudge of cheese.(Check out my photo) And I don’t understand why there is mandatory gratuity of 20% when the only time you see s server is when he/she puts the plate that you ordered via iPad in front of you. They never come around to see if everything is ok or if you need anything.

Overpriced, but decent selection of local beers. I personally hated their iPad ordering system. What’s the point of having a waiter?(BTW — and tipping before you’re even served!) The food(duck nachos), was pretty good, so a balance of 3 stars over all. Hey, it’s the airport, so it’s OK.

I’ve never reviewed an airport establishment before, but I’ve also never actually been inside of JFK’s terminal 2 before until recently, so it looks like there’s a first time for everything. I’ve never been impressed or enamored by the concept of New York, but if there was ever a time to feel like you’re not in Kansas anymore, it’s when getting off a flight and stepping into JFK(terminal 2) for the first time. There’s pop music blaring, sporadic attempts at art deco décor, and the most noticeable thing being the iPads scattered all over the place, imploring travelers to check their flight, browse the internet and utilize the food ordering service from anywhere within the terminal. I had several hours to kill and I was hungry, so I decided that I wanted the most anti-bourgeois place available; amusing was the menus on the outsides of the establishments, like I was walking down the street of a city dining district, and ultimately BKYLN Beer Garden seemed like the right choice, as I wasn’t really feeling adventurous to go with airport Italian or airport sushi. As if the Matrix were showing initial signs of human takeover, all ordering, whether at the bar or at the tables, is done via iPads affixed to the surface. Employees are quick to remind diners that the place is completely cash-less, and completely reliant on debit/credit cards. I’m fairly confident in my grasp of technology, so it was fairly easy to order; the great benefit to having a completely digital menu is that every item has a photograph, so there’s no guesswork to what you may or may not be ordering. However, this entire process means that you are paying for everything up front, as well as tipping. Frankly, I’m not really a fan of tipping up front, because that gives employees no incentive to actually provide good service. Ultimately, I ordered a roast pork sandwich and a seasonal Sam Adams. Combined with the tax and tip, such items rang me up to $ 26. I know I’m in New York and at an airport no less, but that’s still kind of steep. The pork sandwich was decent, but the accompanying salad was bland and whatever dressing that’s spritzed on it is almost completely devoid of any tangible flavor. The atmosphere of the place as a whole is kind of sad, honestly, and not necessarily by fault of the establishment itself. But basically, ever single seat in the restaurant is given an iPad to screw around on, which means that just about nobody is actually speaking with one another. Sitting at the bar, I watched numerous couples or groups of people sit down and go silent, as they sat around deciphering the iPad system, before paying, and then going back to their individual iPads, so they could surf the internet instead of actually interacting with the live human beings they arrived with. Such is just an observation, and holds no bearing to my rating of the place. Overall, the BKLYN Beer Garden is cool and exudes progressive modern technology, but clearly the cost of 40 iPads is pushed onto the customer. $ 26 for an average quality pork sandwich and a Sam Adams is downright expensive and not worth it. When I walked around JFK before settling at BKLYN, I noticed that the Wendy’s inside the terminal was perpetually slammed, no matter when I walked past it. But given my experience blowing money at BKLYN, it kind of makes perfect sense why it was.

Have you ever seen so many iPads in a restaurant? Anyway, this bar in Terminal 2 of JFK was decent. They have a variety of beers in bottles, including their ‘special’ beer which was a german lager and cost 9 $ for a pint(yiiiikes). Anyway, the beer was good, the service was fairly quick. We snacked on some fries and wings… the fries were fairly standard and the wings were decent… good spicy sauce. This place was nothing to write home about, but if you’re stuck in the airport for 6 hours like we were, it was fine. PS the Shiso restaurant around the corner has a few cheaper beer options including Yeungling for about 6 – 7 $ per pint.
