I come her all the time, food is always on point drinks are good and staff is very friendly. This place is the cleanest in the area and I highly recommend you give this place a try.

Not bad but some items are better than others. The quesadillas and tortas? Yum! I called in a pickup order of the flautas. When I arrived, they had no record of my order(pretty annoying, but they get real busy at times so I waited). These chicken flautas had literally no flavor at all, they didn’t taste like anything and sadly, they didn’t come with any dipping sauces. It came with a salad, which was delicious, but it was also necessary to dip them in the salad dressing. I’ll probably be back at some point-but I’m staying away from those flautas.

I love this place! One of my friends told me about it so I finally decided to go. Soon I had all my friends going. Its a good change on variety in Jamaica

Had a burger, fries, and a coke. Great burger. Fries were crunchy. Cute old fashioned Coke bottles. The atmosphere is nice. Bathrooms clean and nice. A good place that offers reasonably priced healthy food on the Avenue. Had an avocado salad with chicken. It was amazing looked just as good as it tasted. I will be going back.

Very unpleasant experience. Rude staff and overpriced mediocre food. Perhaps if I was drunk my experience could have been somewhat decent. When I asked for anything the staff acted like there was an issue… um…OK! Then again, perhaps it’s my fault as a Texan for going for mexican food in the North, totally not the same! What the hell was I thinking! Oh well, now I know better. I DONOT recommend this place to anyone… I’m disgusted.

I’ve come here so many times for lunch. Their food is so very fresh and tasty. I’ve had their shrimp tacos(highly recommended), shrimp wrap, steak burrito, chicken quesadilla, regular quesadilla, their mac and cheese, and their mexican burger. I think I need intervention. All the mentioned meals are to die for. The ambiance reminds me of a trendy, hipster eatery that would be located in Downtown BK, I’d say maybe DUMBO. The menu is written in chalk throughout the columns, and the wall on the left side. Surfboards adorn one of the walls and I’m not sure surfing and Mexico go together, but hey, the food is what matters. If you’re ever in the Jamaica, Queens area and want some good Mexican food, I say give it a go. You won’t be disappointed. PS, the only thing i would change about this establishment is a larger selection of drinks. They only carry Jarrito(Mexican soda), water, and the usual Coke or Pepsi. Where’s the Vitamin Water, where’s the Snapple? Hint Hint

Went on national margarita day and they didn’t sell margaritas. There was no bartender during happy hour, so the cashier made and served our sangrias. The sangrias were not typical sangrias; they were mostly wine and not enough juice. I had the shrimp tacos and my wife had the fish tacos. Both tacos had no flavor. We also had the«award winning» Mac and Cheese, which was basically baked pasta with sprinkled cheese. That too had no flavor. Very disappointed. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing, but the food was bland.

I recommended to the owner that they get whole wheat tortillas as an option and within a couple weeks they did!

I really did enjoy their food, but the staff there could be more professional. I would go 1 to 2 times per week once I started going there, because this restaurant is about the best there is for Jamaica. The inside of the restaurant is clean, and the theme and ambiance was nice. But there is a particular young lady who works behind the register who would often not give me back exact change(deduct 2 or 3 pennies). The last couple of times she would say«here» with somewhat of an attitude when handing me my meal, but I did not pay that much attention to it, I figured that she was just in a bad mood. Also, the last time I was there, it was very crowded, and this same girl told a woman right before me that she would have to wait about 10 minutes(perhaps she called first?) but instead of telling everyone on the line that the wait will average about a half hour, once I get to the register, she tells me that it will be «…35 minutes, do you want to wait?» I said no, and left. A little over a month has gone by since that scenario, and I have not been there. Today I decided to give this place one more chance and called to order, just in case it got crowded by the time I walked in. I called to make a «pick-up» order; the phone rang and rang, then finally someone picked up the phone(I have a feeling it was the same girl) and told me to hold on. I stayed on the phone for about 3 minutes then hung up. Perhaps they are doing so well that they don’t need new customers or don’t concern themselves about treating everyone the same and keeping the regulars that would frequent their restaurant. But word gets around. Although the food is better than a lot of the other places in that area, I’m sure there are other Mexican restaurants that are just as good or better AND with good customer service.

Back again for lunch break. The nachos with steak was $ 9.00. I thought that was a little steep for nachos, but It turned out to be well worth it. It was a generous portion, and they did not skimp on the steak at all. I could only finish half of it. I ordered a side of home-made guacamole to go with it.

January 11,2016 just had a steak $ 9 torta. this was delicious. finally a dish with all the spice I have been waiting for. mexican bread roll moist flaky buttery perfect level of toast. bread is slathered with chipotle mayo, guacamole, salad grilled jalapeños tomatoes and grilled steak and onions. there is a slice of very tasteless cheddar which adds nothing to the otherwise great flavor explosion. jalapeños are hot– so watch out. this is by far for price quantity and tastiness the best value on the menu!

So i went to Don Nico’s again and i was correct in eating there instead of taking it to go. I ordered the tamales again and was given one correct one and a pork one. When i told the young lady behind the counter she asked the cook about it and he was the absolute worst person i’ve ever encountered in a restaurant setting. He argued with me, he raised his voice and denied that they even sold pork tamales. The young lady behind the counter was mortified at the way I was treated and apologized on the restaurant’s behalf. The cook needs to get fired, no one should be berated that way especially since I asked nicely. If you decide to go, get the mac n cheese but don’t ever get the tamales, they’ll screw your order up. How difficult would it be to put them in separate pots, i mean seriously. So incredibly disappointed and sad.

Wandered into this place on Saturday while taking a break from the Jamaica Market nearby with two friends. First thing I noticed was that the décor was cool, a little retro but it was 5pm on a Saturday night and the place was empty. Only a couple was cuddling buy the bar. I ordered the pork tamales which were made fresh while my friends had a chicken burrito and a pineapple and beet juice. The tamales looked and tasted good but they were very spicy. It came two on a plate and I was stuffed after eating one and ¾ of the second one. Overall the portions are good, pricing is fair but based on their location, they’re not seeing much foot traffic which is unfortunate. I would go back to try other menu options.

Cell phone review: pretty good, clean, big portions. The price is city(Manhattan) average. Has enticing flan and rice pudding with a juice bar. This should be a place you can go and enjoy without thinking about the nasty processed foods that seem to surround the neighborhood.

I love this restaurant, for me the best in Jamaica area. I always walked around the area and I saw this restaurant. We tried last weekend and we are so amazed by the food and service. I love the place the decoration, but the food is super delicious. We order the flautas with the most delicious salad, the beef wrap really good and the beef tacos just like original Mexicans tacos

When you walk into this restaurant, you won’t think you’re still in Jamaica. Great new addition to the area serving up some fresh Mexican food. Ordered the beef tacos(comes with two per order) $ 7. Tacos were pretty big and stuffed with chunks of meat. You need ask for the green(medium) and red sauce(super spicy). The beef needs a bit more seasoning and flavor, but if you add the sauce in, it will give it the kick it needs. They take credit if you’re short on cash. There is plenty of seating, if you plan to stay they will yell your name and bring your order to where you are sitting. Saw someone order the burittos and they looked really big and tasty.

After my fellow Unilocal Elites boasted heavily about this new mexican café, I had to make it my stop for lunch break. It’s located within feet from my office building. This café has a interesting californian surf theme. Surf boards on the wall and bright florescent colors. Not authentic mexican style. I reviewed the menu that features fresh juice, tortas, tacos and salads. I decided on the Fish Tacos. The tacos are served with Tilapia, guacamole, slaw and lime. The food was very fresh, however, it wasn’t exceptional. Tilapia was meaty but not exceptionally tasty. Salt and pepper seasoning if they even used any. Even the Green sauce couldn’t revive this place ’ s lackluster taste and menu. How do you mess up GREENSAUCE??? OR chicken fajitas??? HOW!!! I will say that this is a healthier alternative to the other options in the neighborhood. Definitely a break from the caribean retaurants.

So excited this place came to the neighborhood. There are not a lot of good food options in this area, so when I heard about Don Nico’s, I rushed over. The inside is spacious, nice décor, and very clean. Their menu is on a chalkboard and they have everything from fresh juice to tacos to mac n cheese. The staff is friendly and greeted me right away. Everything other people ordered looked delicious including the nachos. I had the steak tacos, and they were very juicy. The sauce and guac were good, but the meat itself needed a little more flavor. They cook the food on the grill on the spot so it takes a little time. I came here during lunch, so by the time I walked here and ordered my lunch break was almost over. However, it was worth it to get some decent grub in the neighborhood. This place is A-Ok. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu. Welcome to the neighborhood Don Nico’s!
