As usual, delicious food, and service with a smile. Sunday night nobody wants to cook. We settled on Salvadorian food. Pupusas de queso($ 2.00), chicharron de pollo com hueso, sopa de res con tortillas. The pupusas hands down as real as the ones back home. The chicharron de pollo is not truly a Salvadorian food. However, its tasty, tender and the chicken is well seasoned. It comes with a side salad, rice and beans for $ 9.00 Tamales de elote made with a lighlty sweet corn masa, served with fresh made crema. Savory sweet and the tamal has the texture of a cross between soufflé and mousse. The corn tamales can either be an appetizer or dessert. The cheese pupusas are gooey in the inside and the corn masa is very flavorful. I can eat pupusas all day. you also get a side serving of pickled cabbage and tomato sauce. Always ask for the salsa picante is made with scotch bonnet peppers, garlic, onion and cilantro. I put the sauce in the tomato sauce for the pupusas, the soup and yes with my beans. By the way if you pay with a credit card and you eat in the restaurant they automatically add 115 gratuity to your bill. In all a very pleasent experience and fantastic food. Dont be afraid to visit the hot buffet and check the daily specials. The soup had large pieces of beef on the bone with veggies(corn, yuca, carrots) in a very rich beef broth. If you are in the mood for beer they have a good selection heineken, negra modelo, coors light. Every once in a while they change their beers, just ask to see what they have.

This place has been around for a while and I love pupusas since having them as a child. Now I may not be Salvadorean but I know good food when I taste it and the chicarron pupusas are on point! They serve hot food as well which I must say looked delicious and we will be trying it the next time we come here. They also sell other things such as my other favorite quesadilla which is like a cheesy corn bread and it is delicious! A must try people!!!

I’m responding to Alexandra’s comment. You probably do not know anything about salvadorean food. As a salvadorean woman, I take offense at your remark that pupusa means«dirty pussy.» You’re so ignorant! Pupusa comes from the pipil vocabulary that means«stuffed» like an arepa. Would you call arepa dirty pussy?!

I’ve had many pupusas before, but this place is hands down the best. I tried pupusas revueltas and the pollo y queso, y both were outstanding! The chicken here is seasoned so it actually comes out a bit spicy, love it. Also most pupusas here are under two dollars, so you can feast like some sort of Salvadoran king for 10 dollars. Haven’t tried their regular plates, but when it comes to pupusas, no place in Queens compares

I’m visiting this state with part of my family, and I wanted to give a try to this place. Attention is super great, the environment make us feel very comfortable, the service received was exceptional. Food is a mix of central american, dominican and the taste of New York of course.

I love this place the pupusas are good cheap, and made fresh right in front of you so you kind of get an idea of how they’re made. The ladies are super nice and very hard working, their place was once burnt(not their fault) and with hard work they build it from the ground up.

Came to the restaurant hoping to have some great latin american food, to start off with the servers didnt even acknowledge you wanting to order your food. I was proceeding to order the rotisserie chicken and the black bean rice, the server took white rice out for me and i notified her that was not i told her, she dumped my food out back into the rice container rudely, no no no if you can take out my food like that im definitely not eating from them again. Oh yea the cashier was carrying her own personal conversation on the job phone. I guess it was a bad day for everyone at the job

I tried the stewed chicken, rice with black beans, and plantains. It was all very good, especially the hot sauce that comes with the order. We wanted to try the chicken and cheese pupusas but didn’t want to wait 15 minutes as we were kind of in a rush. But will definitely try it next time we are in the neighborhood. The lady serving the orders was sweet. Even though their was the language barrier, she was friendly. She didn’t skimp with the food, the containers were full to the max. Good food, good service… I’ll return.

The food was great, they serve a very good amount of food for the cost. The only thing that wasn’t great was the tamales. The«masa» was a little soggy for my taste. I would definetly recommended trying the coconut roasted drink, simply to die for.

This place is very clean & the food is delicious and very inexpensive… I’ve been craving pupusas for a few weeks now. They are so good because they are made to order. I’m writing this review while I wait for my food. It’s a Saturday night & I have the whole restaurant to myself. It’s really cold outside so few people are out. Nevertheless, I’m glad I came out. … Ok gotta run, my food is here YAY!!!

Papusas were great. If you get a chance have the fried chicken it’s perfect.

Love the food, best pupusas I ever had and I have eaten there many times now but if you ever decide to dine in hopefully you won’t get the lazy ass, nasty waitress we did and if she hates her job she shouldn’t be working there the two times that we have dine in we stayed in there for three hours she didn’t attend to us never went to our table never asked us anything. Until we didn’t get up and hour later to tell the man there that’s when she wanted to rush to our table she did that both times, worst waitress I’ve ever seen!!! I will always eat there but she sucks. She’s not going to stop me from eating the wonderful food there.

i went on a mini pupusa run today trying to find my favorite pupusa(i really only get revueltas). el comal in jamaica was probably the best pupusa i’ve had in the nyc area, crispy skin and good flavor inside with a good amount of filling. the curtido was good with no weird flavors, slightly on sour side. they make their pupusas fresh and it took a while to get mine(at least 15 min). one side of the restaurant is prepared hot foods. other side is seating area and full menu. 2nd best is probably el pugarcita de america in east new york. they had a nice spicy curtido, a little more fermented, and they were the biggest pupusa i’ve had. right under the«brown» subway line stop so it’s convenient. once you hear the tracks rumbling, pay and book it up the stairs to catch the train. next might be el salvador restaurant in bushwick. the flavor was a little more bland than the others but usually the curtido helps with that. this place probably best curtido of the bunch, fresh tasting and you can get the spicy green sauce too. there was a weird drunkish man at the counter who blurted stuff in a language i didn’t understand which made me want to leave fast. and when i left, 3 guys had someone pinned on the sidewalk with his pants half off just a couple blocks down. other pupuseria i’d probably not go back to: rincon salvadoreno in jamaica: maybe the cheese they use is the strange/pungent taste i didn’t like. not that it should matter, but their pupusa looked a little sloppy. el continental in park slope: they put some weird oregano in their curtido and the skin is too hard. last time i went i found it very unmemorable which sparked me to try to find the best pupusa. el nuevo izalco in woodside: pupusa wasn’t particularly memorable but they use light purple cabbage. the filling to skin ratio is low so not much flavor and basically eating a lot of skin. jollibee filipino fast food is a couple blocks down – probably a funner place to go! bahia in w’burg: i don’t think they had revueltas when i went. i don’t remember why i didn’t like it, maybe it was too hard but never bothered trying it again. salvadoreno usuluteco in sunset park: just wasn’t right. haven’t bothered trying to figure out why. red hook ball fields: i went to two trucks. i was hoping this would be the golden pupusa cuz everyone raves about it. i think it’s more for the experience. i wasn’t impressed at all with either truck. maybe cuz it’s hard to get the soft gooey texture i like when cooking out of a truck. both trucks served dark purple curtido. some place in the w170s: i think there’s a couple up that way. i brought my pupusa newbie friend and he brought extra home. i feel like i cheated him cuz there’s def much better pupusa out there. a guy wrote up his pupusa trip thru jamaica: i’m not sure how salvadoran people feel, but i have issues getting pupusa at a pan-latin america place. to me it’s like going to a restaurant that serves pad thai and sushi. NJ is supposed to have some good pupusa but unfortunately the unlimited metrocard doesn’t work there to do a pupusa crawl…
