First time eating food from this establishment. I ordered a simple plate of rice beans and jerk chicken and the food is delicious. The restaurant was packed but the kitchen staff looked quite busy. Our wait was less than ten minutes. I will be a retuning customer

I am in love with their food. This is the first time I went and it was everything I wanted in Jamaican cuisine. I ordered the jerk chicken large meal which came with a lot of meat and rice and peas. My husband ordered the curry goat large meal with white rice. His food was tasty as well. I only gave it 4⁄5 stars because his meal had a lot of bones instead of meat for curry goat. The place was small and restricted with lots of people. They definitely get a crowd. Everyone was very prompt with taking orders. This place is pretty price so come with lots of money lol. Will go again.

Order delivery from here yesterday, food came in no time being I live a couple of blocks away. Wasn’t feeling good, so I ordered soup, large beef soup was $ 7.69. I also ordered ½ jerked chicken $ 10.59. And 2 fried dumplings $ 1. Not knowing the prices at the time I ordered, I asked the lady taking my order for the total, and she tells me to call back in ten minutes. Very unprofessional. So I call back about 15mins later and she says my order was $ 20.15. Which is kind of expensive for basically two items. Once the food arrives, soup had good flavor, but only two little pieces of beef, with plenty of potatoes and carrots, what a shame for over $ 7 bucks. It was more like a veg soup. The jerk chicken was swimming in liquid, and I couldn’t understand why, since jerk should be made on the grill. Obviously this was baked or steamed. The dumping was good though. Smh…

Genesis is consistent when it comes to serving customers great food. However, over time the inflation of meal prices will cost you a pretty penny. They’ve doubled up on the rice and peas because of the lack of meat you receive. Why can’t we have equal parts? In all actuality how can one thoroughly enjoy a meal with only 3 – 4 pieces of meat? Each bite should be the perfect ratio of stewed chicken, veggies, gravy with rice and peas.

Longest wait for a food delivery that I’ve ever experienced. 2 ½ hours of frustration. Ordered at 5 delivered at 7:30. When I placed my order the woman told me the delivery would take 30 minutes. The meals also come with plantains which they always run out of. Haven’t had plantains with my meal the last 3 times I ordered from here but continue to pay the full price for the meal. Completely unacceptable.

Food is just ok. I had breakfast and wasn’t impressed at all. The saltfish and okra was not bad. The saltfish and calalloo was tasteles. The best thing is the cornmeal porridge.

Got the braised steak with rice and peas and garden salad, it was delicious! The meat is tender and moist and the portions are pretty generous. Their beef patties are great too. Will definitely order again! :)

I ordered Genesis delivery while getting my hair done at a nearby salon. My stylist told me they had a lunch special, I had no idea what was offered, so I ordered what I get from most Caribbean restaurants: Stew Chicken. The delivery came in decent time. The Stew Chicken lunch special was $ 6.50 and it came with rice, cabbage, plantain, and I got a bottle of water. I believe the water came with the meal and I don’t know if there were other beverage options.(I didn’t make the call) I enjoyed my food. There was a lot of rice and a little bit of chicken with a little bit of meat on them but it is what it is. It was $ 6.50, I was hungry, they delivered, and it got the job done.

When referring biblically to Genesis, it means the beginning. But this was the END for me. I really wanted to give Genesis a fair review but that was not what my experience was worthy of. This place was raved about as the highly acclaimed best Jamaican restuarant in the area and it disappointed me greatly. I ordered a simple rice and peas dinner, cabbage and jerk chicken. What I received was a plate of BONES, a full plate of over cooked cabbage and a MOUNTAIN of rice. You’ve got to be kidding me. West indian restuarants are notorious for scamming you with large portions of rice and very little meat for your money, in an effort to get off easy, but this is a joke. If you want business you don’t treat customers this way. This was a disappointment and I will not return. I could have ate at home for what it’s worth. This place also resembled a Chinese take out restaurant revamped. Read the other reviews and do not be misled.

Excellent! I recently got into Caribbean food especially Jerk Chicken with the rice and peas and cabbage down in Richmond, Virginia. I thought I would never taste something as good as that. But Genesis blew it out of the water. Love their lunch specials and the variety of choices.

Love the food! Love the food so much I even forgive the time they took 3 hours to bring my food because the woman that took my order did not complete it by asking my job’s extension so I called 3x to follow up and lastly I got asked whats my extension and after that they came in 10 minutes… They charge $ 3 for delivery but for Jamaican food in the area until they open something else that delivers to my job this is it!

Genesis!!! I’ve been eating here since I was a kid! I also went to high school around the corner. My dad and I would come in the morning and get Hominy corn porridge and fritters or fried dumplings. Memories! Genesis has always been #1. After a while you feel like friends or family. And biggup DJ Roy! The food is always mighty fine. I cannot remember ever being disappointed here. Four stars only for the wait time. Truth be told, this resturaunt has to be doing something right to be around for so long and still running things! I’m still Team Genesis!!!

Very hard to find a west indian restaurant with good food AND good customer service and Genesis is one of them. Looks like a typical jamaican restaurant. The prices are typical too. To my knowledge they didn’t run out of food while I was there. This was at 9pm. The staff was friendly and I didn’t wait for my food to come out. The food when I got home was really really really good. Unlike Port Royal where they give you an attitude for everything and the food is hit or miss(mostly miss) Genesis is doing the simple things just right. The Jerk chicken plate I ordered was plentiful with lots of meat and equal portions rice and veggies. The chicken was tender and they give you extra sauce for the chicken. The same plate at Port Royal which cost more then put a mound of rice, a scoop of veggies and 2 hard to eat pieces of meat. Just thinking about it as I write this review is starting to irk me. Of course I gotta make a 2nd and 3rd trip here just to make sure the food and service is consistent. If anything changes I will be sure to update my review but so far Genesis is great and should be praised for the good work. They do take cards with a minimum. Its kinda small but I guess you can eat there. They coincidently sell the Port Royal home made drinks there which are good.

Best Jerk Chicken and an Average Fry This may be the beginning of a long sultry relationship. The«Genesis» of an addiction to Jerk Chicken. I’ve only had Jerk a handful of times, but Genesis really knocks down the competition. The chicken was well seasoned with spices and has that kick of cinnamon. I just wish they poured me some more of that jerk sauce all over my rice. I also had the fried chicken, which was made fresh to order. I waited a good 15 min to 20 mins for it. Was it worth the wait? The chicken was crisp and well seasoned. My only complaint is It was a bit over-fried and resulted in a dried out the bird devoid of the majority of its juices. The rice and peas had an addictive quality and also had a noticeable fragrant hint of cinnamon. The peas added a pleasant nuttiness to the dish. The plate also came with two slices of fried plantain which was standard. The cabbage was a decent palate cleanser. I also ordered a chicken patty, which had a thick comforting warm curry filling which I thoroughly enjoyed. All kinds of ooey gooey potato-ey goodness going on in there. However, the chicken patty only had one or two little tiny pieces of chicken. The large meal and chicken patty ran me about $ 18 and change. I felt like the prices were a tad-bit high for the caliber of food. I’d give em 3.5 stars.
