The Source

I always walk by never knew what this place was at 1^st glance it’s nothing like your regular beauty supply with cheap products. I walked in and saw essie nail polish & products you would never see in a basic beauty supply. This is top notch the place is beautiful I was scared to touch anything very posh & fancy in here. The girl behind the counter was very friendly and attentive.

I love going there ;most of my hair products come from this store. The ladies that work there are cool, they know the products in the store. I also buy nail polish at The Source. Everytime a new line comes out, I there buying the colors I like.

I have been shopping at beauty stores since forever! Never, like this one! b’cuss «THE SOURCE» is a ‘diamond in the rough’ neighborhood, with a pair of the Most beautiful GIRLS in Jamaica QUEENS! And whats, not, to like about them and «THE SOURCE» ?! NOTHING! u walk in a store that looks more like a Marriott suite: I’m soo fancy ! Just like these GIRLS who werk herr. TRUST, you will only find the exclusives and take home the best for your hair!

This store raises the bar for beauty supply in Jamaica. It is beautifully merchandised and the employees are pleasant. Most of the hair care lines they carry are towards the higher end: Sebastian, Paul Mitchell, Wella, Alfa Parf, etc. I was lured in by their sale table and asked the sales associate about a purple hair mask. She was so helpful and introduced me to a line of Italian products that is not sold in Ulta or Ricky’s. (I cannot remember the name but from the ingredient labeling, it was a high quality European line.) I think I saw Salerm too along with other Hispanic specialty products. They sell OPI polish and hair for extensions in many different colors. At the register, they even carry a few bottles of hair growth vitamins, but unlike most stores, these are the real deal– Solgar brand biotin!!! (Solgar, IMHO is the most reputable vitamin brand I know, and I also know first hand that biotin works.)
I am so glad found this store! I am holding out on the 5^th star because they don’t have a loyalty card or points program that would give them an edge when competing with Ulta and Sally’s. Nonetheless, the sales associate was GENEROUS with samples. She made my day!
I am looking forward to seeing this type of store influence the re– development of Jamaica Avenue. It has a far more civilized atmosphere than your typical beauty supply. Its classy and professional, and yet, you feel comfortable because its a local small business and the employees are down to earth. This was a find on so many levels. The Source is a source of good things to come!
