Purchased a dozen donuts… don’t know what happened to this bakery but it is certainly not the bakery i have come to know and love over the years. The quality of goods and service has debilitated and the price has soared, especially deli. I got a 16 ounce cucumber salad and was charged $ 10+ Really, cucumbers.

If this place was not on my way home from work I would never stop in. Awful customer service and very overpriced. I stop in only when I don’t have time to stop any where else.

Mendokers was chosen to cater and also deliver a great wedding cake this past weekend. It all went as planned and Mendokers performed an outstanding service. Will use them again.

I used Mendoker’s for my recent wedding. They were fabulous from the first conversation! The food was excellent, the cake was exactly the design I wanted, and absolutely delicious, and they were helpful and creative. I wish I lived closer so I could frequent their bakery all the time!

Yes it’s changed but my cakes are still good. I order round cakes just because all the time. Have been using this place for 45 years. Cakes with good filling are hard to find. They still lead the pack.

High quality bakery with delicious fresh baked goods! They have been in the business for a very long time. Chances are you have heard of it, even if you aren’t a local. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is friendly. They also have sugar free cakes incase you can not have sugar. They are delicious and you can’t even tell they are sugar free! It is truly incredible what they are able to do. They have a smaller deli like section and have«salty» fresh prepared meals as well. They are very delicious and great for a night when you have limited time on your hands. Try them out, they won’t disappoint.

I’ve heard great things about his place. However the customer service is very much lacking and rude. I don’t normally knock a review for this, but beings that I couldn’t even pick the donuts and they weren’t phenomenal they can’t get more than a one star from me. Yes I showed up at 7am when you opened, there were ample employees behind the counter. The attitude I was given for not being knowledgeable about your selection was absurd. Have your donuts out when you open. I asked for an assortment for a bakers dozen, I got 12 not your normal 13 donuts and they were way overpriced I paid around $ 13 for 12 donuts. My selection consisted of almost all filled donuts or powdered. Not one chocolate or normal glazed or normal cake donut all this gooey junk that most people won’t eat. It was a waste of my money. I know this is probably mostly the employee I encountered but she gave me not much of a variety or the customer service I aimed to find at a local bakery.

I’ve been coming here for a number of years. I usually come on Sunday to purchase the stuffed doughnuts for my family. Recently(over the last 6 months to a year), the quality of the doughnuts has been declining, specifically the amount of stuffing in the doughnuts along with the occasional stale one. Today(2÷7÷16) I purchased paczki for the family. Regrettably, when I got home and opened the boxes, I was disappointed to find very stale, under stuffed doughnuts. I honestly could have gotten a similar doughnut from DD right down the street. Each paczki cost $ 1.80 — a ripoff for such a poor quality product. I will never return to this once great bakery.

This place was great when the original owners were still there. Now, the staff is rude and the quality is not the same. They mess up my order(which is always simple) every single time, so I won’t be returning. The teens that work there don’t know anything about their items and have an attitude.

This bakery is seriously going down hill… My family has been going here for years especially for their stuffed pepperoni and cheese bread we went there for Christmas they looked complete different even packaging was horrible the breads were wet the bread tasted like wonder bread it was absolutely awful out of the 8 we ordered we only wound up taking 2 and didn’t even eat thosE… Another customer there was returning her ham and said the same thing the woman told us they got a new cook and they don’t know the original recipes just awful unfortunately after years of going here we found a new place

Good quality and delicious. Also expensive. The last Time I got a birthday cake(birthday cakes three times now) I asked for an ice cream cake and they gave me a regular cake with a small sliver of ice cream. I was very disappointed.

The quality has really gone down in the past few years, I ordered my son’s 1st birthday cake last year and it looked as if a child made it. We arrived to pick it up and it was not ready, we paid additional for designs that were not added and the cake just fell apart when cut. We had not looked at the cake until we arrived at the venue and when I called to speak with the manager I was told too bad. Not only did they make a mistake but they way they handled it was very unprofessional. If you want a cake for dessert they are ok but if you want it for a special event definitely skip this place because I know a few cakes they have ruined for people.

Their deli meats are wonderful. Their salads are delicious. Their cakes are wonderful. However, Their decorated cookies tasted like they might have been in their showcase for months!!! I bought some at Christmas and they weren’t dry, they were downright stale and inedible. I bought some of their fancy cupcakes and found they were the exact same thing, stale! Always ask what’s fresh that day and buy that item. Bread is always fresh. Same with rolls and cold cuts but not necessarily the cakes or the salads which get made every other day. Mendoker’s is very expensive and I have found, of late, that I can get comparable cakes and deli meat at Stop and Shop for a fraction of Mendoker’s prices. Another thing that bothers me is that the sales ladies NEVER smile. They are not friendly or personable. If it was one person you would say she had a problem but when it is the whole shop you can be sure it comes from the owner. When Mrs Medoker was alive things were different but since the kids have taken over everything has changed. But no matter what— the thing I cannot live without is their bread. They have THEBEST bread in the NJ and probably PA too.

I’m really not a fan of this place. I only go there because my mother goes there as per tradition from her own parents… the bakery items are always dry, their deli items are seriously lacking in flavor, and the service is ridiculously rude. Avoid it at all costs!

Ok, more like 3.8 stars. I bought a cake for my wife’s birthday and it was yummy. It was half white and half chocolate with layers. A bit heavy, but delicious. The white cake was a bit dry, but the frosting more than made up for it. My kids got the black and white cake and I got my favorite carrot cake. All were delicious. Upping the stars to make up for some non-sensical comments left by others.

This is really about the ice cream side of Mendoker’s Bakery. They have good ice cream, it’s Hershey’s, a quality ice cream, portions are good, price is in line with other ice cream shops so why only two stars? On October 25, after dinner, we felt like ice cream, it was hard finding Mendoker’s Ice Cream on line, we found the Bakery on line and after much searching finally found a site that said the ice cream side was open until 9:00PM up until Halloween, we live within walking distance but drove, left about 8:00PM and went directly there only to find that they were closed. Right around the corner there’s a new ice cream shop, Four Boys. We had been to their location in Englishtown and enjoyed the ice cream, the only reason we never tried the Jamesburg location is we hated the previous ice cream shop. We stopped. We ordered. We liked! I don’t know what my wife ordered but I had a large dish of their Apple Pie ice cream and their Pumpkin Pie ice cream and enjoyed it. Thanks Mendoker’s for letting us know that there’s a new ice cream shop in town.

I’ve heard about this place for quite sometime now, I had tasted their cannoli cake during one of our staff party. It was the first one to go before the actually entrée… I finally had the chance to have some of their carrot cake, red velvet cake, mocha cake and cheese cake… all are equally amazing I would go here to pick up their baked goods every time I have some party

I have been going here since I have been a little kid. The pastries are absolutely delicious! On the weekends expect to wait a little, but the line moves quickly because they have a good amount of workers. The goods here are always fresh and the pricing is not bad at all. A few of my favorites is their cannoli cake(my mom gets me every year on my birthday :))) and their cheese danish. They seem to be always be conveniently open during bad weather and during holidays. Mendokers also has a deli, I have never bought anything aside from their fresh rye bread, but I know they have cold cuts and salads. I did however get a bagel one time around noon time which happened to be hard and inedible but I just think it dried out. Aside from this minor experience, it still does not change the way I rate this bakery. A plus is the location, its great to grab an ice cream here and head over to Thomas Park down the block. Can’t forget that they have random 25 cent ice cream days so follow them on Facebook!

yo. YOOOOO… dem DOUGHNUTS doh! one of my colleagues was celebrating his 10th year with the company today. he brought in these maple icing covered custard filled doughnuts and yo, yoooo… i honestly cannot remember when i had a doughnut this decadently amazing. some people love their dunkin donuts and krispy kreme but they’re nothing more than amateur hype following band wagoneers. local bakeries are where it’s at and Mendoker’s makes a doughnut that feels like sin worthy of the worst hell that could possibly(or even impossibly) exist. O — M — to the Gotdamnmanohman are these amazing. I’ve had 3 so far. I’m so going to hell and don’t even care. i don’t even think i’m gonna need to pleasure myself today, they’re that damn good. okay, so i’ve had 4! I DON’T CAREANYMORE!!!

The ability to purchase a(jar, can, container, vat) of pure frosting exists here. This is good for people that want to frost their own cakes, and people that want to eat pure frosting out of a container. Either way, just having this option is testament to how good it is. Mendoker’s makes it easy to get that fatty fatty goodness to take the shortest route possible from bakery to mouth, all the while leaving a very small dent in my wallet. I opened up the box in my car. I ate things while driving. I had things handed to me, while driving. Things put directly in my mouth. There is very little eating in my car(yes, that’s a thing) so that in and of itself is a very good indication of how good this food looked, and how good it tasted once I got started. Mendoker’s is easy to get in and out without forgetting anything — the«L» shape forces you to walk by everything they offer… cakes, cookies, pastries, bread, sandwiches… Get one of everything. I tried a bunch of the pastries, the cookies, and the breads. The black and white cookie(my personal favorite) was A+ and the giant glazed circle donut was what I devoured in the car. Lesson learned: any pastry that looks good, will be good. Bring home some bread, and get a sandwich on your choice of roll. The bread is fresh, meat stacked high, and toppings come aplenty. This place is in no way convenient for me to get to, and I have Cake Boss less than a mile from my apartment — so take that into consideration when I gorge over how great it is. I will be back, without hesitation, to get more delicious items and maybe probably eat them on the way back.
