What a beautiful venue for a wedding! The November wedding we attended on a fall Sunday night was spectacular. The pics that the photographer captured show how beautiful it was.(see pics… I controlled myself and only posted a few). Both the Castle itself and the Reception area were simple and elegant, sparkly clean and full of character… so charming! I will say that if you attend a wedding here, be aware that it is in quite an isolated area. Dark roads, dark parking lot. We had slippery leaves to contend with, and the walkway areas are not favorable to gals in heels. Personally, I clung to Husband’s arm to not fall on my face(yes, before alcohol), when walking the pathways. Otherwise, picture-perfect…complete with Knight-in-Armor! Attended a wedding reception on a December evening. Would love to go back and see what the place looks like in the daylight sometime. Loved crossing the bridge over the moat to enter the castle for the reception. What a great castle look. Spent a lot of time looking at all of the details of the décor. The catering staff of the castle did a great job. I was impressed in how our buffet meal was presented(staff guided each table to the buffet table instead of having the guest all go at once). Beverages, both alcoholic and regular, were kept available by the staff at the tables. Our buffet foods were delicious. One major concern I had was the poor lighting outside. The private drive from the road to the facility had no lighting at all. I had to stop and put the high beams on the signpost to determine what was the correct part of the castle for our event. All of the parking areas were poorly lit and signs directing guests towards the castle entrance and parking lot exits were hard to see.

I just had my wedding at the castle and it was an amazing experience! Prices are reasonable and you can bring your own alcohol for the reception which can help save a lot of costs. My pictures done by Amber Michelle Photography couldn’t have been more beautiful and the castle made for the perfect enchanting backdrop. The only issue that I had with the castle was ensuring that they provided a bar tender for the event. I had problems with that on the day of the wedding. I would highly suggest the castle to any bride looking to host a wedding!!!

The first place I have ever been to for gem mining and no other place since has even come close. Please bring the gem mining back!!!

I found the castle from a google search. I attended bridal show and we booked the venue for our wedding. I rented the great hall and the great hall patio. The castle and grounds is absoletly beautiful! A few problems I experinced. For my wedding I rented the castle from 2:30 — 11:00 pm. When I got there around 3:00pm and entered my dressing room there was a couple sitting there waiting for a tour. They continued to do tours up until my wedding started. That really made me upset. Than my bartender tried closing my bar an hour early. I paid for extra time and she called the manager and found out I still had the bar and continued to serve drinks. They never busted out my champagne I bought for the toast. They also tried to double charge me for the bar and would have if I didn’t notice an extra $ 400 charge. When I attended the bridal show and booked my wedding I got a coupon for 10% and a free patio they didn’t want to except that and said it was for something else. I had to send in a picture of the coupon and complain to get what I was given to me. It rained and the castle was quick to move cocktail hour from the patio to the queens chamber. They spoke with me about it and handled everything. The wedding started a bit late but that was because the weather. They were quick to answer emails when I had questions. I would recommend the castle to any couple looking for a place to get married just know they really try to nickel and dime you. Make sure to check and re check your not over charged. The bar is also a serious over charge in my opinion but my wedding was perfect and so beautiful!

First to review! Yay. Anyways, I went to a wedding here a few weeks ago. The one-lane gravel road leading to the Castle & Garden takes you through a beautiful wooded landscape. After parking in the parking lot by the reception hall, surrounded by a ring of tress lit with blue lights, I walked through the drizzle of light misty rain to the reception hall where the wedding was held. All I could hear were the quiet voices of guests also walking to the hall and the croaking of frogs. It was amazing how quiet, peaceful, & beautiful this location was! Great for a wedding! I did not go inside the Castle, but I saw it down the hill from the reception hall and it was gorgeous! The reception hall was a great location for a wedding. You could see the scenery outside clearly because the circular building’s walls were mostly glass. It almost felt like we were outdoors. The chandelier in the middle of the ceiling was humongous! During the ceremony the wedding party stood just below it. I was hoping a little Phantom of the Opera moment wouldn’t happen, but they were all safe, haha. I would recommend this place for a wedding! It was a perfect location for my friend’s. Very serene & beautiful. Also, it was only an hour &15 minute drive from Chapel Hill. It’s a good location for those near Greensboro, Winston Salem, or Burlington.
