I grew up in Jamestown and return home a few times a year. Often I meet up with friends in Jamestown and pop into The Deck. I have been going since before they were even a bar. I remember when they first started the Membership fees and at the time I bought what they said was a Lifetime Membership. I never received a card from them for this membership. Now every time I go I am told I need to pay $ 5 for a membership. I think the owner has gotten very greedy and lost sight of the fact that he is in a small town with local guest. I have been in the establishment many times, served drinks and hang out with friends even in during the time frame that«membership is required» but they have been really strict about this lately. You must have a membership card to order now but the servers tell you that you can have a photo of it on your phone. The system is quite flawed and I think they are turning away local patrons at this point. I personally know that some of the bartenders short pour you even if you pay for a double they pour singles to try to make more profit. Again this is all greed. I have also heard many bad things about the owner from bands that have previously played at The Deck because he pays them so poorly! I hate that these are the complaints I have about an establishment that at one point didn’t even want to be a bar. Now that they are succeeding they want to take advantage of their guest! When you start turning away people that were born and raised in Jamestown you are losing out on your small target market! Lots of room for improvement because they have great competition right across the street!

BS, having a good time playing shuffle board when we asked them to turn the gas heaters over our heads(no one else’s). The Ftard 20 something said that someone else would ask to turn it back on??? Asked everyone around us and everyone said it was cool(70 degrees???). No dice, basically«deal with it» from the 20 somethings running the show. Tried to turn it off ourselves and was later told we were cut off! Then spoke to the«owner» and tried to explain what happened and he «tapped his flashlight on the counter». And we were asked to leave. I own a bar and treating everyone like a drunken idiot may not be your best first move. Shame on a cool little place in a cool little town treating civilized customers that way. No no no.

After having a few drinks at one bar, my friends and I decided to go hop over to «The Deck» last night. We got there a little late, the band was finishing up their set. But it was still crowded. Mostly with people in their early 20s I’d say. Im 34 so felt like I was one of the oldest there. But everyone seemed in good spirits, I played a game of cornhole and enjoyed a glass of wine. Very laid back and lots of places to roam around there. I def which it was closer to wear I live in Greensboro. I would give this place 5 stars except the men didn’t have a bathroom. Only a outhouse. Come one now. Not so classy, Esp if you read GQ magazine.

After reading all of the reviews for The Deck I felt it necessary to sign up for Unilocal and do this place some justice. First of all, The Deck is not a restaurant and does not claim to be. All of the food that comes here is done through an outside business that is located just downstairs and has a very good selection that is much fresher and better than most music venues/bars. Secondly, I have been visiting this place for much of its existence and I would put the age range of people enjoying themselves anywhere from 21−80(I know that’s a big age range but it’s the truth). There are some nights where the older crowd seems to be upset that the youngsters are infiltrating their hangout but many nights it is a place where people of all ages, races, and sexes can come to have a good time and grab a drink and watch some of the best live music in the area. Lastly, as a Jamestown resident I know that when it comes to parking there are a few no-no’s. All of the parking at Mike’s Exxon are designated as The Decks parking. If you are having your car towed then maybe it would be a good idea to read all of the signs that are posted at Stafford Square, Wells Fargo, The post office, and Potent Potables. I mean come on people are we not all adults and should be held responsible for our own actions??? The owner of The Deck would never call a tow truck on anyone in Jamestown. Well, that is enough of my rant on the misinformed people who had a bad experience at this fantastic hangout. So if you and your friends are looking for a relaxed adult hangout in the center of Greensboro and High Point then The Deck is the place for you! Plenty of good music, good drinks(very reasonably priced), good people, and good times!

Great spot to hear your favorite local band! Very cool outdoor space for the spring and summer. However I saw a band in the dead of winter and they had heaters so it was doable. The drinks are you basic bar options, with decent prizes.

Great place to dance and enjoy the music. Drinks are cheap, toilets are awful and the«dance floor» is rocky and pot holed. BUT there’s no cover charge and the band list is great!

Nice atmosphere with live music however bar service is incredibly bad when they’re busy. Expect to get overlooked multiple times and have to wait 10 min to get served a drink when they’re busy.

You have to dial a number to order food, which I found kind of odd, but the service didn’t take that long to arrive. The bacon cheese fries were good and definitely filling. Bartender was friendly and the seating with the fake turf was kind of unique. I definitely wouldn’t come here for the food but it’s probably a somewhat cool place to have drinks in the evening(I only came for lunch).

Great if you’re an oldster, not so much fun if you’re not a AARP member. I’m 31 and felt like I was one of the youngest people there. It’s nice to see people my parents age out having fun and all, but not so much when they’re sloppy drunk on the dance floor. On the plus side, they do offer annual memberships, so you should only have to pay to get in once, if you want to go back. Names aren’t on the memberships either, so you could probably give it to your parents and they’d be very grateful.

No parking for the establishment. 5 cars towed tonight that parked next door. Be sure to catch a cab here.. 1.50 for ice water. They don’t tell u this until your bill arrives. Tried to challenge this tonight…$ 3 for water but they basically said too bad sad you have to pay it anyway. Mean trick. 6.50 for a shot of Malibu rum. Really? It’s just mid shelf liquor. Me thinks this place is quite proud of its mediocre self in Jamestown. The band was great but I can see them somewhere else that is less pompous. Even Potent Potables across the street is more welcoming or even Southern Roots. They have the same bands and a delicious menu reasonable drink prices to go with it. Oh yeah they also have a parking lot!

Fun place to go to listen to live music outside. Beer and wine are reasonably priced. Skip the mixed drinks though because they give you hardly any alcohol which makes for an expensive«mixer».

Horrible service. Watered down drinks. And the manager was drunk. We will never return. But if you like watching a bunch of trashy middle aged women hit on 20 something men, this is your place.

Been there 6 or 7 times. Just a cool outdoor venue with plenty of seating, great bands from around the Triad, and reasonably priced food choices. Have never had to look around when I need a beer or wine, staff is awesome. Nothing like it anywhere around here.

We went to The Deck at River Twist last night to hear the Josh Preslar Band and Joe Dean perform mostly blues. What an experience! The music was good and the atmosphere was unique. It’s really hard to describe! Maybe the pictures I’ve posted will help. The owners and staff were hospitable and we felt at home. That’s what it is — a homey and wacky place to enjoy live music. Drinks are prepared at the bar, and food is catered by the Fresh Manna Café which is a separate business, but in the same building. When the band took a break, we wandered into the River Twist gift shop. It is also delightfully wacky and unique. The Friday & Saturday night live music is from 7:30 to 11:00, which is the perfect time frame for us.

I have been down to The Deck at River Twist on a Fri or Sat night now twice and loved it both times. A very cool atmosphere to watch great local bands. It’s like watching a small concert while you sit in an antique store. The food was great, the drinks are a fair price. They charge a $ 5 cover for guys, girls are free which I also think is really reasonable. This is probably the best place to watch good music, enjoy some adult beverages and just relax in the GSO area. You have to check out the The Deck. SUPERCOOL!
