We have dined here many times, and the food & service is consistently very good. Also it is a BYOB.

Went back again with a gift certificate from Christmas. Tasteless lobster bisque and tasteless brandy cream sauce on one of their signature dishes. The dessert was still partly frozen. The owner is very nice but the food is lacking. We went with a gift card and will probably not be returning. We’ve eaten there before, many times. It’s just not worthy of the prices they charge. It’s a BYOB which is enticing but food it overpriced for what you get and everything is a la carte. Very disappointed in this recent meal.

Twice we have come here and twice we have been quite pleased. Luigi’s is a bit of a sleeper; indeed we drove by 100’s of times without ever taking notice of it on the west side of York Road. If friends had not gushed about the food, it would not have hit our radar. It is in a fairly nondescript building that may have started its life as a private residence, which has been expanded over time. The interior is cozy and not at all posh. Murals give it a 1960’s vibe. On our most recent visit, we ordered eggplant rollatini, which the Mister pronounced superb. Meanwhile, I had the eggplant salad, which was composed around a mound of very fresh baby arugula and dressed in lemon-truffle oil. Although, it was a bit under-dressed and I would have preferred the eggplant warm, it was a delicious combination that I will order again(with my tweaks). As for entrees, the Mister had penne Classico, which had a fragrant and robust house made gravy and a substantial amount of grilled sausage. My chicken Michelangelo had two chicken paillards, a a good quantity of artichoke hearts, broccoli and red peppers in a gorgeous white wine reduction. It was enough for two meals, and I look forward to enjoying the second half soon. A couple of easily-remediated reasons why I am not giving five stars to Luigi’s at this time: We were seated in a back room and the floor needed to be vacuumed. Additionally the cushion on the banquette was obviously makeshift and not visually appealing or terribly comfortable. No eatery should ever have a dirty floor. Luigi’s, please address these issues. We do look forward to future visits.

I visit Luigi’s several times per month with either my wife and/or family and the measl are great everytime. Although the exterior may be unassuming, the cusine and service are always first rate. Why travel to south philly for great Italian food when we have a treasure in our bucks county back yard? Well done guys and thanks for the many wonderful experiences and those to come! See you Thursday at 7 !

This is one of my favorite restaurants! Marius and Sal, the owners, make you feel instantly at home with their warm welcome, and careful explanation of the menu. One of our friends has a gluten intolerance, and she was assured that choosing their penne, she would be safe. Marius even recommend we not choose a menu item that we were considering.- something one doesn’t often experience. I’ve always been impressed with everything we’ve tried. Some highlights tonight included Portobello stuffed mushrooms, Clams Casino, Chicken Fantasia, Lobster Bisque., a delicious Swordfish special– with walnuts and a cream sauce– surprisingly flavored with Pernod, Chicken Parmesan which my husband requested grilled,(no problem) and Pistachio ice cream. Warning-portion size is big on all dishes. Expect to take some home. BYOB just great, because I don’t see my flavored vodka in restaurants I should be sleeping now, as it’s extremely late, but couldn’t resist writing this interview first!(in the dark without glasses, so please excuse any typing errors!

Usually Luigi’s is on their game but I am guessing being Valentine’s Day they were overwhelmed. Arrived for our 6PM reservation and were seated right away, Ordered and we were off. I started with the lobster bisque which was quite good but listed as $ 7.50 on the menu and on our check was $ 11.95, strike one. My wife got the caprese salad and enjoyed it. Main courses came, I ordered veal scampi with shrimp, portions small, two small thin pieces of veal and four small butterflied shrimp, strike two. My wife got the lobster ravioli of which she got three raviolis, three small shrimp and three small scallops with no sides. Nothing came out hot and my side vegetables were ice cold, strike three. Dessert and coffee were delicious but put our total bill at $ 100 dollars, a bit much for what we got. The place was tightly packed and busy so we did not mention the overcharge on the soup.

Looking at other’s recent reviews on this place, I’m surprised they had such bad experiences. People who are looking for«fast» food and service should go to Olive Garden. I was in good company so maybe that made the difference… I made a reservation for a Friday night for at 7pm. The whole restaurant was filled with people. We were seated on time and even though we waited for bread for about 10 minutes, it came out hot and fresh. The waiter came over and told us the specials and came back a few minutes later to take our order. For an appetizer, I ordered the mussels in white wine sauce. It was delicious. The sauce was lemony and garlicky and tasted great with the fresh bread. The portion was very large. My SO ordered the beef carpaccio. He had no idea what it was(thin slices of raw beef) and when it came out he was surprised. It came with some pieces of toasted bread, capers, and shredded Parmesan. He enjoyed it despite thinking it was something else. For our entrees, I ordered the vegetable ravioli which was spicy and flavorful. He ordered the chicken parm which was served with a huge piece of chicken. He was very happy with it. We ordered the chocolate mousse cake for dessert, which was also excellent. It was a little strange that they had a tv on mute with a telemundo station playing but again, if you are with good company the décor of the restaurant(for me) doesn’t really matter. It’s a little dated but it feels homey and authentic. I wouldn’t except much else on a family owned Italian place on the side of the road. We were seated near the door which was fine but a little drafty. An easy fix if I had moved to another chair. The bill came to about $ 75 and we were out after about an hour and a half. Considering I can sit with friends for several hours eating, drinking and chatting, I say that’s pretty reasonable.

Amazing food and amazing service too! I had Luigi’s cater a party at my home. Our guests raved about the food. Excellent! The owner was there, along with his assistants. They had everything set up quickly and could not be more accommodating. The level of service was exceptional. I have gone there on several occasions since then. I would highly recommend!

Save yourself the headache and humiliation! Made a reservation for a Saturday night. Turns out he doesn’t stock bottled water– problem already… I ordered a veal dish, and my wife linguine with clams. While sitting and waiting for the meal the owner(that’s right– the owner is a waiter there) never once refilled our beverages, never cleaned the table of all the crumbs. When the soup finally came out, it was bland veggie soup that anyone could get from a can. When finally after quite some time our entrée’s came, I saw my wife picking out what I thought were pieces of clams… but NO! they were giant cloves of garlic that were so abundant, she could barely eat the pasta at all. When I called this jerk over, he said(and I’m quoting here) — «what do you want? you’re in an Italian restaurant!» with an attitude like I’ve never encountered when eating out. They he proceeded to add«you know– I don’t put this much in, people complain, I put this much in, people complain– you know it’s Italian». At which point I was vexed and fired back–«That’s your explanation? You’ve got to be kidding me” — Grinningly he replied– It’s how we make it. What a dick. Never again. Plus the food sucked– I make better at home.

VERYSMALLPORTIONS!!! Had a party of 12 for Sunday RES. Started with special salad of arugula and goat cheese. Fresh but the dressing was overly bitter. My main course was the veal quattro fromaggi — nice flavor — light sauce. BUTTHEVEALWAS3SMALLSMALLPIECES maybe 3 inches in diameter. For the PRICE it was not worth it at all… No veg on the plate, I asked for pasta on the side so no veg were given… the poor veal looked lonely so I ate it in 3 bites. Two others at the table ordered the veal and the portions were the same size. My son’s chicken parm dinner was good and enough for him with the pasta. But he does not eat much anyway… I can’t give this place any more stars because the price to food ratio is really off.

The food here is great and I love byobs. It is a very small restaurant, but they are on their game. The outside is deceiving; give it a shot because the food won’t disappoint.

First visit to Luigi’s and we were not disappointed. My husband and I enjoyed our meals including salad and appetizer. Dessert was delicious and service was pleasant and efficient. We frequently eat out and will definitely go back to this restaurant. Ambience is old and a little dated but food was well worth it.

Decided to try this place because of Groupon. Small building with large patio area. Entering, we liked the white tablecloth and place settings complete with wine glasses, even though this is a BYOB. Service was efficient. Started with clams casino, prepared differently but very good. Had enough sauce to dip your bread in! The ceasar salad was tasty and fresh, fresh shaved — parmesan reggiano? — beautfully plated. My husband had the flounder on a bed of spinach special, and i had the shrimp, scallops and crabmeat in pasta. The food was excellent! The only disappointment with this place was the loud pop music with poor speakers and the television! Management should upgrade the sound system(couple of small Bose speakers would do the trick) and play soft classical, and turn off the TV! This is a classy establishment, so go the extra mile. We would go again, and this time, with more friends!

Just starting my meal, the salad was(Cesar) very good fresh! I had chicken parm that was prepared just like I like it, all I had to do was ask! Even if it is not on the menu, the sign of real cooks! Pasta was perfect. Everyone at the table enjoyed there meal! Lobster was good with the fra diablo and the Gnocchi Romano was very tasty. I found this place because I was going to be in the area and it was the first to accept my mothers day reservation made on mothers day. This was because I went early and when I arrived the place was empty. By the time I left there were only two tables empty. If your looking for ambiance only *** stars. If your looking for food. Hence the five stars. Don’t take this wrong I like the place and the view of 263. I made the trip from 37 miles away and it is now on my list of if your in the area and don’t want cheesestake and you have the money to spend will do again. Desert was worthy of a photo. Good but I really don’t need this after such a big meal.

Ate at Luigi’s for the first time this evening. Parking lot almost full when we arrived. Reservation for 630, walked in and place was packed; we were seated immediately, and the turnover continued for the next 90 minutes as we ate. Menu: simple but varied, something for everyone. Bread: homemade and delicious. My selections: soup Lobster bisque, flavorful but not overpowering, hot enough to enjoy. My entrée: Veal Scampi… three slices of veal with three large butterflied shrimp in a delicious sauce. Mashed seasoned potatoes, carrots and broccoli served on the side. Homemade dessert tray offered nine selections, we split the carrot cake. Staff ALL very pleasant, and very attentive. Parking lot even more full as we left. Luigi’s sits on the west side of 263; looks small and rustic from the outside, but inside is cozy, seating for 75 or so. PRices very reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food we enjoyed. One of the better meals I’ve had out in years, hope to go back soon!

This place is out of the way, so much so one barely notices it on the side of the road. However, the person I was with wanted to try it for a while so we decided to stop in. While the building is a little old and rundown(by the way, watch out if you want to go to the bathroom, the floor is really uneven! I almost fell over) you can tell they do at least try to spruce up their décor. The outside seating is nice, my only gripe would be that they should switch from AstroTurf to actual stone flooring. The wait for food wasn’t overly long and we did in fact enjoy our meal — however, the pricing is a bit steep for what you get. 18 dollars for a bowl of pasta with no sides is not what I was looking to get. So basically, the food is good, but not that good. If you’re looking to save money, go elsewhere.
