Consistently mediocre food. Every time I try it I hope it improves but I am always disappointed. I don’t see any reason to go back. Also very limited opening days

We stopped here after an event in Jasper. It’s a cute little local joint. We enjoyed great service and they brought us free corn bread pancakes — delicious — since it was our first visit. I had ribs and others in the party had pulled pork. All the meat was tender and well-prepared. It did not have much smoky BBQ flavor, which we found disappointing. Side order or green beans was perfect and delicious.

Very good experience. The pulled pork was mild but pleasantly woody. Service was prompt and friendly. Bathroom was clean.

I live for BBQ and this was the worst ever, Ribs in a watery BBQ sauce… Yuck …The pulled pork same way, never again. Brunswick stew was terrible as well Go elsewhere

Do not recommend at all. Waited 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us before being seated. Then sat at the table for another 15 minutes and a server never came to take our order. If fact, they treated us like we were invisible since they were certainly happy to serve other groups. And when they weren’t serving, they were sitting at a table chatting. It’s as if they were purposely snubbing us and refusing to serve us. Not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that we had children, people of color, non-locals or if it was something else about our group entirely. That is certainly how we were made to feel. Extremely rude and disappointing experience.

We eat here quite often and love the food!!! Prices are great as well! My husband and I can eat for around $ 20-$ 25 and that is with me sharing half mine with our toddler. They are only open Friday-Sunday(which is a bummer when I want it during the week). This is the best place to eat in Jasper as we have had no luck with any other restaurant.

If you enjoy pre packaged meat with high fructose corn syrup bbq sauce, with canned vegetables, then this is the place for you. Enjoy every gut wrenching bite. Your intestines will beg for mercy. Also, enjoy the almost $ 40.00 check that you will get for two adults and an infant, who ate nothing. My advice? Keep it moving on down the road!

Had the«sheriffs plate». Ribs, pork, and Brunswick stew with a side. The stew was probably the best part. Nothing terribly special. But solid. The ribs were likely steamed. The meat fell off the bone. I like a little bite to my ribs, so they were overcooked. The pork was also just ok. One thing I love about bbq — bark. There was none with around an 8 ounce portion. I wouldn’t be surprised if the pork was also steamed. I think the majority of the smoky flavor might be in the sauce. The potato salad was also pretty good mayonnaise base with chopped pickles(not mustardy for those that like to know). Friendly service. Open space. If you google the address — it looks like it used to be a furniture store, but I agree with others that it was likely a funeral home at one time.

Really disappointed. We went here because of the close proximity of it from Yahoo Farms… and thought this was going to be great Carolina BBQ based on several reviews we saw in the car as we crossed over Highway 108 to it from Yahoo Farms. They had good advertisement to lead you there. Once you get there or close to it, you will find it directly across from a cemetery. It’s a great big white house with many columns in the front: reminded me of a mortuary or funeral home which made it extra spooky being October and directly across from a cemetery. The outside was nicely decorated with fresh mums but as you walk in, you see a hodge podge of everything on the walls(kind of like Cracker Barrel but a very dirty one). The place was a take on Sanford and Sons and smelled of dust and old bed sheets. We were a family of 6 and it was a first time dine for us. We got a plate of complimentary fried cornbread but don’t tell them you want more unless you want to pay. They won’t tell you it’s not free. We asked for more because we took three pieces and broke them up for infants to eat while the adults placed orders. So they brought us two extra plates of fried cornbread without mentioning that they were not free but the server brought it out like it was complimentary bread or tortilla chips. So we got charged for two extra plates ~ sneaky! Our BBQ was not hot or cold just room temperature. We got an array of everything from a full slab or ribs, brunswick stew, 2 Sunday cobbler, side of potato salad, beans, and even the french fries and ice cream. All I can say is my friend’s son liked the french fries. All else was MEH at best. How can the food be room temperature especially the meat? I can’t even say this was decent food. We all left there bewildered at why we even gave it a chance when we didn’t have a good first impression at the door. This restaurant was just AWFUL. I do have to say that they had a good selection of pocket knives and my friend bought one. The prices are *not* Jasper prices either, they are typical city prices on a xerox 8.5×11 copy piece of paper for a menu. WTF!!! Seriously, don’t stop here unless you want to be disappointed.

I have to admit I was really let down by our early Saturday dinner here. The three of us at table ordered a wide variety of dishes on the menu — brisket, pork, stew, fried cornbread, cole slaw, fries, «home made» cake — and it had all the appeal of Morrison’s Cafeteria. If that much, even. The cole slaw was just plain bad. The«home made» cake(yes, I know, I keep putting that in quotes) was a mix cake with store-bought icing on it and made in a REALLY sloppy way. I’m one of the world’s most indifferent bakers and I wouldn’t even put that on the dinner table. The highlight of the meal was the french fries, made from skin-on potatoes. I can’t even work up the enthusiasm to heap invective on the place. Our waitress was one of the nicest people EVAR though. She was kind and cheerful and treated Philip’s dad with humor and grace(and not everybody is willing to answer questions about the dishes or to accommodate special requests). Too bad the cake wasn’t as sweet. :)

Davis is a weekend must for our family! Love the vinegar– style sauce, the meat is wonderfully cooked, the fried cornbread is a delicious treat and the chocolate cake is never-fail! The brunswick stew is the best I have ever tasted and I have tried a lot of BBQ joints! The family and staff are courteous and fast.

I was raised on Southern BBQ and love Davis BBQ for the whole experience. The ‘que is more Carolina-style vinegar based sauce. The ribs are usually tender enough to pull off the bone with a fork. You really should try the cornbread fritters(fried cornbread on the menu). The Brunswick stew is my favorite of any place I’ve had in Georgia. To top it off, it is a true family-run operation and you will feel like a regular after two visits if Miss Leslie is running things. Its like a regular walking into Cheers just with BBQ sauce instead of beer.

My husband and I visited Davis Bar-B-Que this weekend with a couple of friends who had raved about how great it was. My expectations were high. I have a strong preference for sweet BBQ sauce– not as much of a fan of the vinegar based sauces. This sauce was less sweet and more vinegar based and it’s the only one I have ever liked. The griddle cakes– not totally sure that is what they were called– as an appetizer were great. Delicious! My husband had the plate that had Stew, Ribs, and pulled pork and it was all great. The prices were also really reasonable. His sample everything platter was only $ 11 and I think my pulled pork platter was only $ 6 and it could have fed us both with the appetizer. They have Pepsi products so be warned if you are a Coke person– but the sweet tea was pretty good. A friend also mentioned the coffee was great on the occasions that he has visited. You should also know that they are only open on the weekends(Friday-Saturday). A[pparently they stay really busy– but at 5 for dinner we didn’t have a wait. They went through a tornado several years ago and lost the top portion of the house and you can see a lot of the before and after pics right inside the door if you want to check that out.

The restaurant itself is pretty big, comfortable and decorated with cute kitchy stuff. The staff was nice enough and the service ok. The BBQ itself was a bit of a let down and didn’t really have a bold BBQ sauce taste. The Brunswick stew was very good, and the cole slaw very peppery, as in black pepper. Like husband said, if we were out this way and were in the mood for BBQ, we’d hit this place up. But we aren’t going to rave to our friends about it.

I really like the bbq here and their sauce is excellent. There Brunswick stew is really good as well. The other menu items are what you would expect from a bbq restaurant. The restaurant has a nice homey feel in part due to the fact that it is a family owned restaurant and partly due to the fact that it basically is a nice large white house house with the smoke house off to the side. Ordering the food to go also works out quite nicely, whether you just want to pick up something to take home or go for a picnic.
