After a very awesome first stay here with my girlfriend in October, we decided to stay here again for two nights to be married. I can’t say enough about this place. If you don’t eat at their steakhouse, you will be missing an incredible meal.

The Gold Strike in Jean NV is a relic of an era long gone now thanks to corporate investors. The physical plant itself(inside and out) was designed to look classic Western Style. It works for me.

It was a super cheap hotel, the casino and hotel was a little dingy but you get what you pay for. I would stay here again simply because it was convenient and easy right off the interstate. The hotel staff was friendly. The slot machines are a bit old with screws in where you would normally place the tokens/money to play. Most of the machines just spit my money back out like they didn’t work. This is a great hotel for a few nights, but not a casino I would go out of my way to visit.

This place could be so much better, but the service there was HORRIBLE! Sure the food sucks, but what can one expect for the price they charge? I will give them that. Oh and the water was good. The place feels creepy, the women workers there were so rude! The buffet was terrible, the service was slow. It took them almost 25 – 30 minutes just to cash me out of a slot machine and the place was nearly empty! When I went to ask a lady if she could help me, she spoke to me like I was stupid asking if I pressed the service button, I said yes, then she said with a snotty face«are you sure? Maybe you should go check first before you come here» Then I kinda snapped and replied«Seriously!!! Can you just send someone to cash me out?» The grouch said«just wait, they will be there» I told her it’s been almost 30 minutes and she says«I don’t think so» I couldn’t believe it! I was about to go get her canned, but ah… I’m not that mean

Never again. … The 24 hour buffet does not exist anymore so your left with the snack bar late night. And all that is is heat and eat pre cooked cheese burger and coke 7 bucks. This used to be a nice place to stop when the restaurant was open 247. Then they got rid of it and went to the 24 hour buffet which was Ok. Now that’s gone and so am I. whiskey Petes ihop here I come.

This is an okay place to stay if you are going to a concert at buffalo bills! It’s cheaper and just 11 miles away. The casino is very small and the rooms are comfortable. Nothing real fancy. But the service was great. We got to check in early and that was nice. We stayed on 2÷15÷14 to see Smokey Robinson at Primm. I had a problem with my tv and someone was there in minutes and fixed the problem!(Dead batteries in remote!) All in all we enjoyed our stay.

The buffet… We were starving on our way to Vegas and though, this world be a great stop before we get to our hotel, we were wrong. Let’s start with price, We hit the buffet after 10, which according to their sign clearly meant late night price, not according to them. It took me reading the sign to the cashier, and the«manager»(who was also the carving station attendant), then forcing them to read it to me for them to concede that I was right. The manager angrily told the cashier to give us the late night price, then dragged the sign to the other room and punched the sign out of the holder mumbling about it being wrong. I later witnessed this same individual telling another customer that he didn’t make the menu and that the customer could fill out a complaint card if she didn’t like it, this was after a request from a lady for a warm roll and more than just lettuce and limp carrots as the vegetarian option. The food tasted horrible and the veggies were inedible, so vegetarian and omnivore both had equal hates here. We started with soup, I’ve had much better beef soup out of a can from the 99¢ store. And I had to move some dirty bowls out of the way before I was able to taste this delicacy. Next came the main dishes, rice pilaf with some salad and a little fried burrito to start, come on, who can go wrong with that? Yeah, they found a way. Limp wilted vegetable salad, with carrots that have turned white from exposure, not appetizing. Little burritos and pilaf, more like cardboard and mystery crunchy bits, and the crunch was not from the fried burritos. Well we will just end this with desert, well they all stayed on the plate after a nibble for taste as well. Don’t waste your time out money, the m is just another 20 minutes up, and Vegas a little further. When the best part of the dinner is the day old sandwich you left in the car, you know you must pass this place up. Enjoy your travels.

The family used to come and stay here frequently during our Vegas trips because it was cheap and kid friendly. I remember loving this place because they had a Nickel Arcade room where my brothers and I would run around for hours while our parents would gamble upstairs in the casino. Their rooms are quite spacious, usually under $ 30 bucks a night and almost always available for a night or two. Their buffet is nothing to brag about but it is open 24 hours and only $ 6.99. There is also a Burger King inside which is a good quick place to grab a bite.

Decided to hit the head here rather than at primm to avoid the crowds and it was a great idea. This place was pretty much dead considering it was a three day weekend… also grabbed Chili nachos for cheap at their snack bar Check out this place and spend some money it looks like they need it — consider it old Vegas

As the self proclaimed the king of buffets… I feel that I do have a sense of duty to scour out the land for all the possible buffets available. Therefore, it is my job to ensure that I can hit up as many buffet as possble even though they are not really the«desire» buffet to go to so I can share my insights with all you folks… Who goes to Jean, NV? So on my recent trip to Vegas, I’ve decided to visit Jean(which I never do since I generally stop at Primm for the outlets), and noticed that they have a buffet tucked in the back of their tiny little casino. My sense of urgency hits me and so I decided to pony up the $ 6.99 and try their food out!(by the way, there were probably only about 50 people in the casino including all the workers that I saw there… Pretty sad scene compared to before when there was actually a crowd there!(also heard that they’ve downsized quite a bit so the rumor is that this place may possibly be shut down soon… Visit for old time sake if you can!) Bonanza Buffet, located in the back of the casino like previously mentioned, has a Hometown Buffet like set up…(meaning that the food is nothing overly special) They got the usual suspects, basic salad, fried chicken, mash potatoes, etc… but here were the cool things about this place… 1) They actually have steamed tilapia filets… pretty tasty too! 2) They’ve got a burger bar in the back of the buffet… make your own burger with all the trimmings such as tomatoes, onions, cheese, etc… you can even make it a chicken sandwich because they actually have basic grilled chicken breast!(oh and it comes with a side of fries if you like!) 3) Small dessert section, but they’ve got the BOMB soft serve Vanilla ice cream there! I’ve been craving the«previous verions» of soft serve offered at Souplantation and this place’s got it!(New Souplantation ice cream are from Dreyers and they are really not that tasty at all…) So soft serve up yourself a cone and you’ll be in ice cream heaven!(If you like vanilla like me that is!) So what’s my recommendation here? How can you be a happy customers in a not so exciting buffet? Go to the salad bar, mix up the greens(lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc… then move down to the Tilapia and place several filets on top of your salad and drizzle it with Ranch! If you come across any buffet that is less than desirable but simply it is because it’s really cheap… this is a really good way to get a good healthy meal /getting your money’s worth! Overall… I like it! For a meal it comes out to be about $ 7.50… but it’s a buffet!!! So instead of In-N’-Out I’d totally recommend this place and build an «8×8» for yourself!
