Don’t be fooled by the gas station. They jokers know how to BBQ. Had the brisket sandwich. Nice and tender. Yum yum.

The best BBQ around, my favorite being their burnt ends. They make their own chips and their party box has been a hit everywhere I have taken it. Being a tea person, their sweet tea is excellent, but made with Splenda. In the years I have frequented Lutz’s BBQ, I have never had less than excellent. Judging by its steady flow of customers, I do not stand alone in my assessment.

Nice to be close to KC. This place has great burnt ends and outstanding baked beans. Also they make their own chips. You must try them. I highly recommend.

Second time I’ve visited Lutz’s BBQ for dinner. Got the Cuban pulled pork. Food was prepared fast. The meat was nothing special. Sauce was so so. The baked beans were really good. The Mac n cheese was overcooked to mush basically. If you’re looking for a basic BBQ meal it’s available but this isn’t anything over the top and special.

This was about my fourth visit to Lutz’s. Usually I’m in Jeff City on a Sunday so no Lutz’s. Since it was a Saturday and I needed lunch I had to go to this place again. I had pulled pork and the homemade chips. The pork is so tender and juicy, not dry at all. Their sauce is great, not too smokey, sweet, or tangy. I just love those chips and the flavors that you can have added. Great meal.

Party Tip… if you are headed to graduation or other parties,(1) stop here(2) order the big box of chips with mixed seasoning, zesty and salt & vinegar are favorites(3) arrive at party and be a star! About $ 25. Everyone will think you are brilliant.

Lutz BBQ is a gas station marvel. I ate here twice during my visit because I couldn’t get enough the first time. By not enough, I don’t mean quantity. The portions were huge. I needed to try more of the menu. On my first night I had the pulled pork sandwich with 2 slides, green beans and potato salad. The green beans were nothing fancy– in a good way and had a solid meat flavor. The next night I consumed the Cuban sandwich with homemade chips and beans and coleslaw. I watched a potato transform into the most delicious potato chips in front of eyes. The zesty house spice for the chips is highly recommended. The staff were all very friendly and conversed a lot with me. They were mostly teenagers who were working extremely hard. That was nice to see. On my next trip to Jefferson City, I’m choosing a hotel by Lutz BBQ to enjoy this fantastic gas station find once again!

Ordered a pound of pulled pork and a pound of burnt ends to take to go and talk about yum — it totally hit the spot on a cold and rainy day in Jeff City. A little pricey, but worth it. Definitely go when it’s not busy!

I ordered a pound of pulled and bag of chips with jalapeño seasoning. I recommend you go buy your favorite BBQ sauce because they only give a very very small container of theirs.

Unilocal does it again with a great lead for dinner! There is no way I would have stopped at a gas station to dine; however in this situation, it would have been my loss. The Brisket was very tender and flavorful; got to try the homemade chips, in a multitude of flavors. It is a must visit for BBQ in Jefferson, MO.

This is such a great place. We always come here when we are in Jefferson City and it is always great. We especially love the pulled pork sandwiches and their special home made fries.

Very poor. We arrived about 730(½ hr before closing). I had the sampler dinner, which is pork tenderloin, brisket, ¼ chicken, 2 pork ribs and 2 beef ribs. All of the above were dry beyond belief. Chicken had that grainy texture from being kept warm for hours. Pork ribs were just like jerky. Pork tenderloin almost chalky dry. Mac and cheese had been held so long that the noodles were almost mushy. Chips were good. No indication that any real smoking done on-site, possible that the food is made elsewhere. Granted it was late, but most of what I had should have been thrown out.

Best pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever had. This place is so legit. Loved the homemade chips with the Cajun AND barbecue seasoning. Heaven…

Looked on Unilocal& this seemed to be the place to have BBQ. This is at a gas station. How fun. We ordered the dinner portion of St. Louis ribs and the burnt brisket tips. The brisket was fantastic. The ribs seemed to have a very salty rub on them. It was like eating a salt lick. The home made potato chips were really good. I would go back but I would only order the brisket.

My wife and I ate at this resturant once a week. I walked into the resturant tonight and the girl who worked there was definitely not happy to see customers coming in an hour before they closed. She saw us walking into the door and immediately turned around and rose her arms up high. I walked in and I said is it ok that we came and she completely ignored my question. I then was fed up and said thank you and left. We spent over $ 30 on this resturant every week and this is how we get treated? I always ordered the prime rib ½ pound and my wife got the ¼ prime basket. Three times we got home and both sandwiches were identical. Why was I charged extra for something I did not get? I suggest that the owner needs to train his employees on how important customer satisfaction is.

I suppose this is great BBQ for Jeff City, but I didn’t find it to be in any way exceptional. The place was busy and the variety of sauces was decent. The chips were pretty good.

Always great. Always wonderful. For me it is always a battle between the decision for the pulled pork or the burnt ends. Either way, you can’t go wrong. I am a slaw fan so I am all over the vinegar slaw. The chips… to die for. Thanks for being so close to my home. Or maybe I should hope I would have to travel a bit further so it was not such a temptation – except on Sunday when it is closed.

This was our first visit and it did not disappoint. I ordered the brisket burnt ends. My fiancé ordered the Cuban(with pulled pork). Both were very yummy. i am drooling just writing about it. the house made chips were excellent. I recommend Parmesan and cajun mixed together for seasoning on the chips. the coleslaw was ok and the green beans were typical fast food overcooked and watered down. We will be back.
