The gentleman I was traveling with wanted a minibar, a 2-person jacuzzi, crystal ice buckets, marble showers and goose down bedding. He also wanted a place that would let us check in with his 2 dogs, both of whom like to lick the furniture, and one of whom is a rather large pit mix. This combination made my job as hotel-booker rather difficult. I was delighted and relieved when I found a rustic coach house for rent behind the Old Bridge Inn. The location was private enough that we didn’t have to worry about people walking back and forth outside the door all night, setting off a storm of barking, and while it isn’t a «luxury» property per se, it had many of the amenities my friend requested. Like the main building, the cottage contained a mix of shabby chic country antiques and more formal Colonial-type pieces. There were newer fixtures in the bathrooms(Kohler Memoirs sink, bronze faucets, etc), all in fine working order. Based on the innkeeper’s descriptions, rooms in the main building may be a bit smaller, but the coach house offered tons of space for two adults and two pets. Both buildings have a lot of character, and are lovingly surrounded by colorful flowers; great care and effort clearly went into landscaping the grounds. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to stay for breakfast, so I can’t comment on the food, but Linda, the inn keeper was extremely friendly and helpful, and brought us back some complimentary cold drinks as well as the aforementioned fancy-schmancy ice bucket. The cottage also had a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a washer/dryer combo in the unit. Water pressure was very good, and the water stayed surprisingly hot, even after we ran the jacuzzi, the washing machine and the shower simultaneously! For their warm welcome, reasonable rates, and nice location, I give this property 5 stars, and I also appreciate being able to make a 1-night reservation on a holiday weekend, at a time when many B&B’s have a 2-night minimum stay.

This place is such a great alternative to corporate hotels. Located minutes outside of Louisville, KY, it is a quaint inn run by the nicest woman. Homemade breakfast every morning, warm hospitality and a beautiful house. Pretty cheap too, comparatively. Linda is a great hostess and I will definitely go back if I’m ever in the area.
