Picture the scene: Picture going out to lunch with your nephew and walking into a restaurant with zero patrons in it at 12:40pm on a weekday. Not only zero clientele, but zero staff and the door open for business. What me and my nephew witnessed was a first. It is one thing that Montgomery County has a lot of crappy service in the food industry here with mostly flighty millennials serving you, winging it as they still are in school, this pretty much all over from Willow Grove to Glenside, but this one on West Ave takes the cake, the former Our Family Restaurant turned horror show. Say what you want about fluffy pancakes and good soup, this joint is bad news. Kudos by the way to the review by another woman who witnessed the clamor in the kitchen as well. I am happy it isn’t only me that sees the unprofessionalism here. Perhaps they can relate to what we experienced. If you as a patron, factor in ’ good service ’ in a dining experience, then I’d advise anyone to stay clear of this place. It all started from the get go, simply walking in on 02⁄9. It was taken over by two Asians after Our Family called it quits. The ’ apparent chef ’ has a culinary degree from NYC, the capital of rude and crude;(Donald Trump’s hometown) if you will .I predict this establishment will be short lived because of the service. On Tue Feb 9th, me and my 11 yr old nephew walked into an empty restaurant at 12:40pm(the height of the lunch hour) Weather was fine, temperature nippy but okay outside. Not only were tables EMPTY with ZERO people, but(no server, no hostess, no manager/no owner.)Were they out back grabbing a cigarette? We stood in the inside doorway about 5-to-7 solid minutes only to hear two kitchen personnel members engaging in small talk and dropping the F Bomb involved in their trivial discourse as we couldn’t help blocking it out. Total embarrassment to me not to mention having my well raised nephew hearing this shit. Shit from a so called entrepreneur who takes your money. They were nowhere to be found. The fact that no personnel was in the front of the house was plain stupidity in the sense that their art work could have been stolen and they would have no clue. Why? NOBODYTHERE. With this experience bothering me, I decided to make a phone there on Thursday to see what feedback on this I’d receive. The Asian owner came to the phone and after I explained my discontent of the experience, he posed the question of «What is the point of this cal ?” said in an extremely peevish way. This, coupled with him threatening me with many expletives stating«Why don’t you f****** come in here and say all of this to my face ! ». I suppose his attitude is just to ’ deal with it ’ To just shut up, don’t complain, and give me money. Just try to fathom the owner of the West Ave Grill, Marzano’s, or Argana Tree responding this way to a patron. I was appalled. He then threatened to beat me if he saw me in public which was a cyber crime, and I have contacted the Abington Twp Police to investigate the threats. He also called me a fa***t igay bashing. Perhaps this NYC Iron Chef is not prepared to run a business in a suburban community of Phila with traditional family values. Maybe returning to NY would fair better given his unprofessional attitude towards a paying patron? Money going in his pocket? Diplomacy via a telephone call with a paying patron and not correcting a big time problem of this sort is not in his foreign extraction for running a business and PR values, I suppose. I’m sorry, but here is some simple math: When a restaurant is EMPTY at lunch hour, and the door is open with people waiting for a table, and(NOSTAFF there and two totally oblivious, low class cooks in the back are talking trivia in high volume as it carries out into a dining room where patrons hear the gross cursing as my nephew had to hear their vulgar exchange, and an owner okay with this, it = an establishment with its days numbered. Case in point; Guild Hall.(Gone in a few months). You do the math there as well. I’m going to make a prognostication: Jake’s on West Avenue. I give them til summer if that, and it will be in the dark as most of York Road in Jenkintown is, closed up shops. Need I say Service, Service, Service. It is just as important as food. They say to judge a restaurant’s reputation as far as eating there and going back on how many are dining in there} Umm, Zero guests/personnel at 12:40pm? Something is not working here. Advice to those who continue to go there: Don’t voice any issues with the owner nor anyone there. You may find SALIVA somewhere hidden on your plate. Shame on this owner and his wife. Somebody like this doesn’t deserve a business. They want the money, but they don’t want to do their job properly and ethically. I implore the public to stay away. For those heading to brunch and or dinner there this weekend… some food for thought before you start on your plate here. ;)

We were quite sad when ‘Our Family Café’ closed, as it was one of my family’s favorite local spots. Park Place has opened in its place, and this weekend we decided to give it a try. Although the menu was a bit sparse, the food was excellent. I had the Eggs Matthew and my wife had a custom omelette. We both loved our meal. Our waitress Kim was very personable and took the time to give us some background on the new restaurant and the owner. We look forward to our next visit.

This food was amazing! I ordered the open-faced tuna melt and it was to die for! The sweet potato fries are the best I’ve ever had.

I took my son to this place(formerly Our Family) and I must say it was a very tasty breakfast. I had an omelet and some interesting homefries, mixed with sweet potatoes which was very interesting and tasty. It won’t replace the former place, but then why should it? This place serves a fine meal and the staff were very attentive. This place goes in my food rotation, I look forward to many special meals here.

Coziness makes up for a mix of great pancakes but so-so omelet. Good for a Sunday brunch

I would give this zero stars if I could based on the poor service and beyond rude waiter. The food was great, but if I ask you for salt and pepper(why is that not on the table?) and extra napkins, don’t roll your eyes and shake your head in front of me. I complained to the only other employee there, and her response was«Ok, thank you for telling me.» I had the tuna melt and my husband had the smoked salmon platter. But we’re delicious, but I will spend my money someplace else in the future.

Food was good, but service was poor. We were there for Sunday brunch. It took 20 minutes for a lox platter and a side of bacon to be served. My girlfriend asked for one extra tomato slice and one slice of toast. The waiter brought two slices of each, then we were charged $ 14 for a second lox platter. It took several minutes in discussion with the hostess to resolve the problem. There was poor communication between the kitchen staff and the wait staff. Note: they charge $ 2.50 extra if you share something and $ 3.00 for the toast and tomato. The hostess eventually took the off the $ 3 along with the extra $ 14 platter charge.

I was really excited about trying this place because it received such high reviews, but I’m not sure how anyone gave this place five stars… I don’t even know where to start. The atmosphere of the restaurant was complete chaos! The two waiters were running around like mad men! Forgetting orders, forgetting to bring checks, multiple tables without silverware… I really felt bad for them at first… But then the waiter and waitress were having very loud conversations in front of customers… yelling over customers… one of the waiters was in the back scrapping dishes and all I heard was«grossss!»…“that tastes like sht”… Not something I want to hear when I’m about to eat from your restaurant… the staff was friendly but they just had no clue what to do and how to conduct themselves at work/food establishment! The cook seemed overwhelmed as well. How do I know this?! Because of the yelling and noises coming from the kitchen! Not to mention the falling dishes… at one point I thought I was on a tv show… was I being punk’d?! Lastly, they ran out of food(bacon, home fries, certain types of bread) and closed early for the day… Maybe they just need time to work out the kinks, since it’s a new establishment… I won’t be back to give them another chance.

Went here for lunch one day, disappointed after Our Family Café closed. We were extremely happy with the service and the food was far better than we could have hoped for. I had a great cheese stake with a side of fries and a salad. The food at this place all looks great. Highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. Jenkintown has lost some good places to eat lately but folks should get out and support this place, we could use more«high end-casual dining» places like this around here.

It was a beautiful day to have lunch al fresco and there are few places in Jenkintown that serve lunch and have outdoor seating. My husband and I were impressed with the menu options. I ordered the butternut squash soup and we shared a cheesesteak. We both were impressed with the attention and care that was put into making fresh and delicious food. I loved the soup and the steak sandwich had a Korean flavor that was unique and very tasty. We will back back soon to check out the brunch.

Had a really solid lunch here yesterday! Everything was fresh and tasty. Among our group, we had a Greek salad, chicken salad sandwich, and roasted vegetable sandwich. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. I loved the flavors in the roasted vegetable sandwich, though I do wish they’d used a different type of bread(the baguette was a little too much bread for the amount of filling — maybe whole grain toast or a wrap would be better?). We will definitely be back! UPDATE: Have since been back for dinner, and it was also really delicious! The burger was top notch, and they even did a half-portion of the shrimp pasta for my 2-year old. The food is definitely a cut above the other similarly priced restaurants in the area — more sophisticated, with better execution. Plus, it’s family friendly, which means we can take our kid somewhere that serves interesting food. I hope more people give this place a try because I really want it to succeed. We are fans!

Don’t buy into the hype of the already established brunch spots in the area. This place is a force to be reckoned with. The menu was diverse and inexpensive. The food was delicious and the service was great. Perfect place to grab brunch! I’m yet to try lunch or dinner but I assure you that I will being doing so shortly.

Really good food and great atmosphere. Recently got new owner. Interesting menu for area — ex — pork belly, etc. Got Angus burger, and was delicious. They let us try sample of miso eggplant. Really good. Owner/chef/staff were friendly and nice.

My boyfriend and I tried this place for the first time today. We went for brunch and the food was awesome, as well as the service and ambience. The kitchen was a little slow, but it’s expected with a new place. We were pleasantly surprised after not being impressed with the previous restaurant in this location. We will definitely be returning. They also do dinner and BYO!

I had lunch here a few times. The food is fresh, tasty, and satisfying. As a person who does not like kale, I have to say that the kale chips are fantastic.
