Skip the pizza, get the sandwiches! The difference is huge. Prices are fair as well. Fairly quick too. Get in, order a sandwich, eat it, rinse, repeat!

If you’re a fan of subway and healthy sandwiches I advise you to stay away from this place. If you’re a fan of real sandwiches that just taste good check this place out. The hero bread here used is soft inside yet chewy on the outside and I believe comes from the local bakery on Newark Ave. Most of the sandwiches here are good but I definitely recommend just a good old fashion ham and cheese with the works(lettuce, tomatoes, onions, oil & vinegar, salt & pepper and sliced pickles). The philly steak here is definitely worth trying also(get it with a little mayo). The bread is slightly toasted and grilled to give the sandwich a little crisp.

American Hero is a great little local sub place. It’s a family run business, and I think basically everyone who works there is related. I know the owner normally takes your order and the wife is the one who rings you up. Their prices are pretty reasonable on most stuff, but they definitely try and penny pinch you if you can. I ordered a corn muffin for breakfast their one day and they wanted 5 cents for butter. It just seemed kind of strange to me to be that price. Maybe its just me, but to ask me for 5 cents after they rang up the muffin is almost not worth their time, in my opinion. On one occasion there I got a cheese steak which they loaded up with garlic, and when I have to work afterwards is usually not a good thing. The next time I ordered it and I asked them to please not put garlic in, and the guy argued with me that it tastes better with it. Yes it does taste better, but that doesn’t mean I need it, because I don’t. Other than that type of stuff the place is great. I definitely would recommend it if you need a quick sandwich or a cup of coffee.
