Great Food… Cheap! How do they do it? Sevice — Atmosphere — Delicious Food! and CHEAPPRICES! I had their«Lunch Bag» special for $ 6 bucks. Included Curried Chicken over rice and peas, a soft drink and an apple turnover. Delicious and very filling! The atmosphere is sparkling clean and modern with murals of Jamaica on the walls. First time eating Caribbean cuisine and definitely will go back.

This place is pretty good from the little bit of food I was able to sample in it. My Trini friend and I were looking for some Trini food to satisfy her palette so we talk a lightrail ride to Martin Luther King Blvd. Unfortunately, we arrived at 11:30, and no real food was ready as it was the breakfast to dinner transitional period. There was also no menu posted on the wall or available for distribution as they are currently tweaking but the young lady at the counter was very willing to explain our snacking options to us. My friend had a couple of beef patties and I had the cod fish or what they term as salt fish balls. As a Puerto Rican, I am a sucker for bacalao(cod fish) anything so I was very happy to be able to try the cod fish balls because they were absolutely awesome! My friend raved about the beef patties as well so the food gets a **** rating. The reason I am giving them three stars on the Unilocal review is because I was interested in going back to have more cod fish balls with some other items from the menu. Unfortunately, I called on Saturday to check what was on the menu, and I was told the cod fish balls were not available. I got the impression through the marketing on the window that the cod fish balls were a staple of the regular menu but I was told by the person on the phone that it was only made on Tuesdays even though I originally ate them on a Thursday which is a bit confusing. The restaurant has a very informal way of doing business so I would recommend contacting them before you head out to the establishment to ensure your preferred dish is available. They get *** stars on Unilocal until I get a chance to have an actual meal, and some more cod fish balls, so I can give them a firmer review. If you are in the area, on an afternoon, check this place out.

I’ve been craving oxtails and rice and peas so I decided to try this place. I’ve been to most of the other Caribbean restaurants in Jersey City and have yet to find one that I absolutely love. This place is cute and cozy. The woman behind the counter was pleasant. No complaints on customer service. I opted for the large oxtails dinner because I’ve been craving them! Here’s the breakdown of my meal: Oxtails: I got five relatively small pieces of oxtails that was made with potatoes. I know that oxtails can be a bit pricey but five pieces in a large dinner is just not sufficient. They were seasoned okay but weren’t as tender as I like them. They had a little spicy kick to them. Rice and peas: was tasty but a little too mushy/wet for my liking. Macaroni pie: You get a little piece in a large dinner. Not sure if you get it in a small order. It was okay. Nothing special. Cabbage: was not seasoned or cooked long enough for me. The meal was $ 12. They had some bakery items and patties as well. I’m in no hurry to return but I will because I believe in supporting local businesses and this restaurant is a very nice addition to the area. Next visit… jerk chicken!

The chicken curry is PHENOMENAL! When I wanted good curry I always used to think about Thai food or Indian food– never again– THIS is the place to get THE best chicken curry. Also tried some jerk chicken– was great and brought out pleasantly unique flavors I have not experienced with any other type of food– I’m sold on Caribbean!

I have only had it a few times and I thought I knew what jerk chicken/pork was supposed to taste like, but I was wrong! After tasting it here, I feel like I’m ruined — the Jerk chicken, jerk pork — DELICIOUS. The curry chicken was amazing as well. Wish I lived nearby so I could make it a regular stop and make it through the entire menu.

Had the chicken patties, curry, and jerk pork with coleslaw sandwich and everything was great! Never had the patties which are a light pastry filled with chicken goodness! It reminded me of Indian simosas. The heat was just right sine I had my 5 year old but I am sure they can crank it up. Definitely give them a try. Tried the wings too and they were sweet and spicey.

I go here almost every weekend for their Saturday special(goat water) and butter bread. Everything I have tried from this place has been great. I usually take my food to go but since new management has taken over, they have renovated the inside to make it more comfortable for eat-in diners.

If you love Caribbean food, this is a must! Food is great, staff is friendly… very welcoming atmosphere. The Jerk Pork is a must! Curry Goat, Goat Water, Chicken Roti, Bread, Bun… if you’re mouth not watering by now, then something is wrong. You will not be disappointed. Well worth the time… even though I live in the Bronx, whenever I take a trip to Jersey City, this is my go to spot for food. Love this place. One try and you will be hooked :-)
