I placed an order for 20 Roti and when we received and brought the tray of roti home and opened they were all crumbled up and if I tried to pick any one of them up they just fell apart. They took no shape. It looks like they just threw them in the tray! They didn’t even attempt to fold them in any shape or form. I was so embarrassed to serve them to my guest. Never again will I order after this experience. They are an embarrassment of a roti shop. There are so many other places to go to get Roti! This is NOT one of them.

The food is mediocre. Doubles: The doubles tasted like there weren’t much spices in them. Also, The dough was not made correctly. They weren’t fried enough so it tasted too soggy. They broke apart and I ended throwing the whole thing out. Shrimp Roti: it was missing flavor. It was too salty and that maybe the reason why the flavor got lost. I will not be going back.

They make very tasty shrimp roti. Whenever I work from home that is what I get for lunch. If you miss not having Caribbean food pass by that place. The food makes you feel like you in the Caribbean.

My infrequent visits to this quintessential TT roti shop never goes unnoticed and the proprietors makes it a point to greet me warmly… as they do all of their customers. Still the throw back TT Roti Shop in JC, Marsha and Harry’s offers the best Chicken Roti I’ve ever had this side of the Saint James Strip and her home made pepper sauce rivals my dear mother’s recipe… and that friends is saying a lot.

The food is ok since this is the only place you can get semi-authenthic Trinidadian food in Jersey City. Best thing on the menu is the doubles, and the rice and peas. For the most part the food is very salty. The curry chicken, shrimp and goat are very salty. Depending on what time of the day you go, determines how you food will be. Stay away from this place after 2pm. The food is overcooked and warmed up. Its been sitting out forever. The rotis are very good. Never order the bus-up-shut roti. They always tell you they either have none or they make you wait 20 minutes for it. You can never order more than 2 at a time. My only wish is that they bring back the pholourie. Its quick and easy and so much fun to eat. They need to start making it again. $ 2 and $ 4 bags. **Prices are fair and to be expected. The interior is dark and uninviting. Serious dive.

I must say, the shrimp roti was not bad at all. I like my potatos more firm, this was more like almost mash. Shrimp were cooked well, and pretty generous in the roti. Its just the parking man. Yall need a lot!

I’m not very familiar with trini food. However my boyfriend has introduced me to the cuisine. There are certain dishes I enjoy and I will say out of all of the other trini places we have been this is my favorite. I always get the chana with their AMAZING cabbage,(amazing is understatement) bake and top it with pepper and tamarind sauce. I seriously crave their food. I’m a vegetarian so I know it’s veg friendly but my boyfriend is not and loves all this place has to offer. Go there. You’ll love it I’m sure.

Great local place in Jersey city if you have a craving for westindian food! Everything from the Roti, to the curries and doubles are made fresh daily. If you’ve never had trinidadian food you need to visit this place ASAP! It’s a true neighborhood gem! The prices are great and the portion sizes are as well. The workers there are very friendly and assist you in any questions about the dishes. Love it there!, it’s a little taste of the Caribbean, just as the name says ;-)

Great curry chicken & roti, delicious doubles, solid aloo pies, nice people running the place, and – great prices. I only wish they’d make more aloo pies and chicken patties, since they’re inevitably out of both well before 11 a.m. on the weekends.

Was excited to find oxtail in jersey city however I was extremely disappointed. There was nothing good about the taste of the oxtail and the rice and peas.

The female owner has some type of attitude problem. I don’t understand it but on more than one occasion I’ve felt very unwelcomed. Me and my wife also got sick from the curry beef once, it was during the middle of the week right before closing so the curry beef was probably sitting out all day. Bottom line is I don’t think I should walk into a place & feel like I’m not welcomed and for that simple reason I will never go there again… I don’t care how good the food is.

This establishment is ran and operated by Trini massive! Food is great! The seating/eating area is very clean. Its on the corner of busy streets and parking is tight so that is the only downfall. They also have little West Indian goodies — snacks and what not — that you can buy. Eat here!

This is my go-to Trini spot in Jersey City, granted I don’t know of any others. Well worth the trek from downtown; the food is authentic, fresh and tasty. I can’t help but feel a little closer to home after visiting this place. Nice people-good food, you can’t ask for much more. I bring my Guyanese friend here often to school that lame on what real Caribbean food should taste like. It’s «curry chicken» not«chicken curry»! That Guyana is a real backwards country. The only reason it gets 4-stars is because they don’t make a boneless chicken roti. I don’t have the patience for bones, however the shrimp roti is amazingggggg.

Another standout westside joint that sadly fails to register on the Unilocal radar. Don’t people know all the good food is here and not downtown? Anyhow, your standard Caribbean choices, served either as a platter or roti. Jerk chicken on Thursdays, stew Chicken and king fish on the weekends, oxtail and various curries all week. They also have doubles, aloo pie & bake & saltfish for breakfast everyday. Your typical platter consists of way too much rice & beans for one sitting, an extremely generous portion of your entrée and a healthy does of cabbage if you’d like as well. I’ve yet to try the roti, I stick to the platter which always leaves me with leftovers. They also carry a large selection of snacks and condiments. Stop by!
