I stop in here from time to time, usually during off hours, as there’s a dart board at the back of the bar and a decent happy hour. General punk rock setting but populated with everyone from rock-n-rollers to dot-com-ers. Solid, eclectic music. Sports on TV. Seems to go off on weekends based on the flyers plastered to the walls. Perhaps I’ll stop by after dark one of these days.

Really great dive bar keeping the spirit of downtown JC alive. It’s really laid back and all sorts of characters congregate here. The special last night was $ 4.50 for a PBR and a shot. How do you beat that? The tater tots are also pretty great. It doesn’t look like a place that services good but they really do a decent job. Stop by if you’re in the area for a cheap bar tab that will leave you tipsy.

Yikes, it’s not often I find a place with a bathroom so vile I won’t even pee standing up. I’m a fan of dive bars, but other than cheap booze I don’t see a reason to go back. Knowing how unclean this place is I’d not chance ordering food.

I miss college I miss college I miss college I miss college. Oh wait, did I mention that I miss college? Lucky 7 is a replica of the bar that I used to work and practically live at in college. Super divey and unpretentious, amazingly cheap drinks and old school dance music that makes the entire bar come alive. Although it’s fun to grab a cocktail at one of JC’s new hip and chic spots, sometimes all you really want is a 2 dollar PBR and to sing shamelessly to stupid pop songs. The bathrooms are pretty gnarly and I’d assume the food is too, but I’m definitely willing to overlook for the killer music and drink specials. I only came in for a drink but next time I’m definitely planning on staying a while!

Well duh!!! Cheap beer! Lol really cool looking punk rock style bar. The DJ was awesome. Used real vinyl and played awesome jams. Really cool vibe in there. Coming from LA it was nice to visit a bar like this. Sorry Jersey but all I usually find are the sports bars haha. Would definitely go there again, wish we could find something closer to Summit but oh well.

Lucky seven is a pretty cool bar. It’s a great bar with cheap drinks. I haven’t had any of the bar food there but I hear it’s pretty good. On the weekends it can get a little too«St. Marks-ey» for my taste… you know, patchouly oil, B-O and weird piercings with some hipster sprinkled in. Not my scene! But it’s a great place to go have a couple beers with a friend or a few!

More neighborhood bar than dive bar. A bit of a walk from city hall, but only 5 minutes from Porta(just for reference). Good specials outside of happy hour, although they don’t start till 8pm. The food was typical fried bar food, but the tater tots were a happy alternative to fries. We shared the sweet potato tater tots with spicy sauce. Husband ordered the chicken fingers and I ordered the tuna melt. Both were good. May have stayed a bit longer if the juke box was on and it wasn’t so hot inside.

I guess it’s a bar… It’s sorta hard to grade a place like this because going there and seeing the crowd there and how everyone interacts you can tell it’s a bar that really appeals to the community and that there is a definite string of regulars that come and have fun there all the time. With that being said the prices are well set, the food seems like regular dive bar menu, and overall it seems like a fun place to make mistakes and vomit outside from smoking cigarettes. With it all said and done the staff was great and the place was covered with slap tags and that humid air that ALL dive bars have. Good job Lucky for being a community bar but I think other then an occasional beer once in the blue I don’t see what the appeal is for a place like this.

Fun, rambunctious dive bar. I’ve only come here as an afterthought but each time, it’s been pretty packed and wild. I’ve always ended up dancing here — it’s that kind of bar. Open til 3am on Fri & Sat. Decent beer selection. Affordable. Cool décor. Never tried the food.

I have a special place in my heart for Lucky 7’s. From the delicious food, chill atmosphere, and lovely waitstaff. I have to say it’s one of my favorite places to grab a beer + bite to eat in JC. They also once generously let me use their restroom at 2PM during the week without me having to purchase anything. When you find something like this, you can’t let it go. Love you forever xx Game changers: +You can’t go wrong with the tots +All the bbq sauces(I f$(king love condiments)

Definition of a dive bar. Great drink selection and crappy, fried food. Don’t be too snotty for this place — it’s really fun even though it’s rough on the eyes.

Lucky 7 is a hipster dive bar. In the best possible way. Crowded, dingy, and roaring loud even on a weeknight. Canned old-school beer(we’re talking Shaffer’s) for $ 2.50. A pint of something craft-y or imported(like a Shiner Bock or Guinness) won’t run you more than $ 6. And a wall of whiskey to suit the discriminating drinker. Throw in a jukebox and some surprisingly good eats(specializing in BBQ with some house-made sauces) and you get one of the best neighbourhood joints in all of downtown. I also live about three blocks away, so this has become a favourite.

How have I not been here before? Why haven’t I read these reviews earlier? I’m pretty sure this place wasn’t around when I lived in JC(2003 – 2006) or I would have found out about it! Finally had a local to go with and introduce me to this gem of a dive! The old DJ from Aldo’s(remember that place?!?) was on the decks along with another dude spinning vinyl. The music was hit or miss, depending who was doing the spinning. I favored the dude playing vinyl. –Drinks are poured strong(maybe because I was there with a regular?) –Place is super tiny and was packed beyond capacity on Saturday night –Loved the mixed crowd and the general ambiance inside Can’t wait to go back! Cheers!

Don’t forget the tots with that beer at this quintessential dive bar. Standard dive bar that serves cold beer and bar food at great prices. Service is friendly and quick. The food is pretty good, my burger was a bit on the soggy side but still delicious. However the crispy tots were easily the best part. They also have specials every day of the week so check that out. I would definitely recommend this place for a beer or a quick bite.

I low key love this place. They are always so friendly even though I amanita from this area. I came here three times. One of the bartenders is super nice. The other one are nice too. They are all so helpful. Specials every night after 8PM and they have pretty good food! The tater tots are perfectly fried. The range of barbecue sauces is impressive. Carolina Gold is definitely my favorite! The chicken tenders are delicious too. Juicy and perfectly fried as well. When I feel like having a good time at a bar, I know to come here.

Came here after a Unilocal event since it was suggested as a great local dive bar and MAN were we happy we came. As soon as we walked through the doors, everyone started talking to us and making us feel welcome. It really was such an amazing atmosphere. We were lucky enough to grab two bar stools along the side. They have GREAT drink specials pretty much any day that you go. We came on ladies night Thursday. I paid $ 3.75 for a vodka club– UMYESSSS!!! This place has it going on, and I cant wait to come back! I just wish it was a tad bit bigger of a location but other than that, no complaints!

Lucky 7 is pretty much the classic dive bar in Jersey City. As others have noted it looks a bit scary from the outside. Like a dingy bar that probably has a few bodies buried in the back. I haven’t been out back to check for bodies so I can neither confirm or deny, but the place is usually packed – especially on weekends. Interestingly enough it isn’t packed with one demographic, as yuppie, hipster, young people and old people all congregate here. Everyone is friendly though. Drinks are cheap across the board, and even cheaper when you factor in specials. Never had the food so I can’t comment there. Service is surprisingly good, although the place is packed and it can be difficult to get someone’s attention. My advice is to come here with a small group of people who are as broke as you, so you can carve out some personal space for yourselves. I’m not a big dive bar person but even I have to admit this is a decent option if you’re looking to get drunk in Jersey City. Don’t judge a book by its cover.
