Mojo Lounge

This is a pretty cool spot which is way down West Side Avenue, closer to Bayonne. It’s not an area I really ever visit but I happened to stop by on a Sunday to watch football. It was actually very quiet which j was surprised by since most JC bars are pretty busy when the Giants play.
They have a few beers on tap and I was pleasantly surprised by the selection. Nothing super interesting or unique but there were some decently good options. Food wise, they have a pretty standard menu– chicken tenders, wings, cheese steak, burgers, etc. I don’t think it is homemade (I could be wrong however) but my wings were still nicely cooked. A little bit of crispness on the skin which I liked. They had quite a bit of meatiness and I liked the barbecue sauce on them. Blue cheese dipping sauce wasn’t great; needed more blue cheese.
They have a good selection of alcohol and will make you pretty much whatever you want. I went simple– Jack and coke, but my drinks were strong and I enjoyed them. Definitely not watered down in any way.
I really like that they have local bands playing once a week (Wednesday’s I think) as well as karaōke a couple nights. You can see they have ties to the community and want to have a nice spot open in the neighborhood. The bartenders were nice and friendly so that is a plus for sure. This is the kind of place that makes me thankful for Unilocal because there’s no way I would have found it otherwise. There isn’t anything in particular that makes this bar stand out, but the sum of everything definitely makes it 4 stars worthy.

Awesome local bar. Not a fancy place by any means but a nice chill (if divey) atmosphere. Pool tables, karaōke/​live music. Limited but quality food. Great staff and ownership.
This place will always be one of my favorites in Jersey City. The cheeseburger wrap is excellent!

I haven’t been to this place in a while, but have fond memories of the karaōke hosted by Johnny C. I would love to come back, but the place is always extremely crowded on a Saturday Night, and you have to fight to keep your seat. I wish they would open up the upstairs lounge again. Overall this is my favorite Dive Bar in Jersey City, especially because it does not put the the pretense of being more.

Love this place! Its a great dive bar with such a friendly and comfortable feel.
Although the neighborhood may not be the best, it is really a diamond in the rough & the owners always make you feel welcomed!
Food here is great with huge portions. Burgers are always juicy and cooked to perfection. I also loved the chicken fingers with fries & the mozzarella sticks. Still have to try the steak wraps! Heard such good things about it.
They have live bands here on Friday nights, which is always a nice change of pace to the fist pumping house music ridden bars around the area.
Will definitely be coming back & telling people about this place!

Not much to say… the food was solid, so was the beer, nice bartender and had a cool feel to the place. If I lived near here, it’d be a regular place to hang out. Looking forward to coming back soon.
On street Parking wasn’t bad and taxi service is reasonably fast.

The cheese steaks are almost as awesome as the burgers. Portions are of course huge. And now they have Blue Moon on tap!

I’ve been going to the Mojo Lounge for quite a while now and the atmosphere here is still great.
Some tips for everyone, karaōke is on Thursday and Saturday with the one and only Johnny C. Michelle, Jeff, Maurice, and Christina are the usual bartenders and Mike and Joma are the one’s who make the fantastic bar food here. The wings are great (and the hot wings are very spicy!). Their cheesesteak is actually pretty good, but what I enjoy most is their burger. ½ lb burger and fries for $ 8.
They have $ 5 bar food entrée specials, including cheeseburger wraps, chicken wings, and chicken tenders (all come with a side of fries). Tuesdays are unlimited domestic drafts for $ 10!
Billiards on the second floor. They will also host private events there if you’d like to have one hosted.

This place is great, I’ve always had a lot of fun here. Drinks are decently priced, food’s not bad, billiard table on the first and second floor, and karaōke thursday and friday nights.

This place is awesome! I’m sad that I am no longer within walking distance but that will not stop me. Jeff and Michelle are attentive and awesome & Johnny hosts some of the best damn karaōke ever. Mike and Joma, the owners, are really nice guys and run a fantastic hidden gem. As for the food, the burgers are amazing! There are also $ 5 specials on food and very reasonable drink prices. The drinks are strong, the snacks are delicious, the people are cool, there’s pool and karaōke… that works for me :)

The bartenders are awesome and the burgers are the best around. come by and see for yourself

this place is really great for a chill out spot. good food, beer prices are awesome, especially tuesdays, but they aren’t crazy overpriced other nights. the thing i appreciate is the karaōke, thursdays and saturdays. always fun, but some people will try to get real «american idol’ on you. my only complaint is that it can get crowded on some nights cause it’s a bit on the narrow side, but it’s a great place for a good time.

big fan of the place… easy going people… good prices on beer & food, and karaōke twice a week with one of the best karaōke guys around. what’s not to like?

I have lived in this area for 4 years and this is the first time I have checked out a bar in this area. We stopped by here around 6PM to grab some drinks and they were setting up for Karaōke night, we actually thought about coming here later but that didn’t happen.
