I was surprised how good the pizza was here the first time I went. One of the women I was living with recommended it to me and after going here I never felt a need to try any of the other pizza places nearby. I’ve ordered slices, pasta, and a full pizza from here. All very good! Even if they don’t answer the phone when you try to call, they were always very timely with my online orders.

Really good place if you want to pick a quick slice. I highly recommend their specialty Sicilian slices. They have a lot of different toppings some more creative than the next.

The pizza is okay… but when you were raised on NY pizza, the standards are high. The TACOS, yes, TACOS, are amazing, delectable treats. Rich with flavor, authentic, fresh and a great deal. Don’t miss out on this hidden gem at Pompei!

Arguably the best pizza in Jersey City & this is coming from a pizza fanatic that has tried most of the pizza in JC. Great prices, service & food. I will continue to be a consumer of their establishment!

Horrible experience. I submitted an order online and didn’t receive it until THREEHOURS after I placed the order. I would think it was a pretty standard order: one salad, one pizza, and one pasta. I called a total of three times, was told that there was«an issue» and it was on its way. It did arrive, but was MISSING the salad. I called again and no one answered since the restaurant had closed. In fairness, they somehow ended up sending the delivery guy back with my salad an hour later and I have to say the woman on the phone was very friendly. The food was not bad, but there’s very little chance I’ll ever attempt this again.

Delicious, affordable pizza and it’s convenient to me?! Truly an exciting day I it’s with I knew about this before! We got 2 plain slices, 2 sausage/pepper slices, one buffalo chicken slice, one BBQ slice, 3 bottles of water and 2 bottles of ginger ale and it came to $ 23. That alone made me love this place. But what’s more — the pizza is actually good! The staff is super friendly as well. I look forward to going back!

Placed an order for delivery last night through seamless. My bf and I got the bruschetta, garlic bread, chicken parm sandwich, and fries. The delivery took about over an hour. The food was still pretty warm though so they must’ve been busy or something. The food was below average. The fries were absolutely horrible. Best description would probably be soggy, flavorless mush. The bruschetta was okay, a little too oily in my opinion and the bread was soft/not really toasted. The garlic bread was fairly standard, but nothing special. If it wasn’t for the marinara sauce that it came with, it probably would’ve been a complete bust. The chicken parm was probably the only thing that looked appetizing. Surely enough it also tasted pretty bad. The breaded chicken inside was mushy and also very flavorless, while the sandwich bread was not toasted and tasted mostly like flour. Didn’t finish any of the food and just threw it away. All the dishes were pretty inedible. There are much better pizza places around the JC area. Wanted to try something new and give this place a shot. Definitely will not be ordering from them again.

If it wasn’t for my girlfriend loving their pizza I honestly would not order from here. The last 2 times were absolute sh**. Called for delivery for just 2 large pies(1 plain/1 pepperoni and half sausage). Nothing crazy in my opinion. I asked how long and was told 30 – 45 minutes which to me is the standard time for delivery. It finally came after 2 calls in 90 minutes and the f’ing bottom was burnt to sh**. We called them back and they said«sorry, we will just refund your money back». Yea that never happened. Today(3÷5÷14) I had the gf order ahead for pick up cause we were not having that 90 minute bs happen again, so we called for large pie(plain/sausage) and mozzarella sticks and was told it’ll be ready in 15 – 20 minutes. So I gave em the 20 minutes and walked in, asked about my order after repeating what it was cause they never asked for a name as to who’s order it’d be and the girl told me it’ll be 5 more minutes so I gave em 15 more minutes so they wouldn’t feel rushed and when I walked in, it was just NOW coming out the oven but cool hey no biggie cause it just means more fresh warmness for me. Finally get it home and BEHOLD! It was half plain and half PEPPERONI! Like are you f’ing kidding me?! I walked in, repeated my order and you said yep gotcha it’ll be 5 more minutes and you dicked up my order. Like come the hell on already with this sh**. I get it, it was a bit busy but that should not reflect onto the customers inconvenience when you were allotted so much time. Trust me I’d use profanity without the * but don’t want it getting filtered and not posted by Unilocal cause people need to see this.

Tried the pizza here last week. It was ok, but tasted like it was a reheated pizza that was made earlier in the day. I did call about a ½ hour before closing so it’s very likely this was the case — especially since the girl on the phone told me it would be ready 5MINUTES! While edible, it’s hardly comparable to some of the great pizza places in JC closer to the Hudson River to the east of this location. The girl on the phone also seemed to want to rush me off the phone when it was clearly not busy at that point in the night; and was not very personable when I arrived. Probably my first and last time here.

I ordered out last night, coming back from a long business trip and having nothing left in my apartment to eat but organic brown rice. In an attempt to spite the vegetarian crowd of JC and PETA enthusiasts, I called Pompei, and ordred one of their meat-filled pies(Bolognese) and calamari. The calamari left little to be desired, and was tough, rubbery, and altogether not worth the $ 9.00 I spent on it. However, the pie was delicious, with its thin and chewy crust, spiced sausage, and appropriate amount of sauce and cheese. Overall, not a bad place for take-out, and a decent representation for the area. Oh, and prepared to be dealt a little attitude when you call for delivery; I am not sure who staffs their phones, but she needs to be replaced.

The search for the best pizza continues. I have to say that Pompei Pizza does provide one of the better pizza joints. We order the house special with Pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, mushrooms, olives, onion and peppers. Thin crust pizza with lots of topping. They don’t go cheap. Speaking of cheap, our 18″ pie was only 18 dls. I will give these guys a 3.5 stars for satisfying my pizza craving tonight at a great price.

We were up in this neighborhood visiting friends and split an order of mozzarella sticks, a medium sausage and pepperoni pie, and a house salad. Given the fact that we had it delivered, I was shocked at how outstanding the mozzarella sticks were!(I’ve had some cold, gummy/hard ones delivered from other places in the area, so I knew I was taking a risk). The pizza itself was«the best thin crust in Jersey City» according to John M. I wouldn’t say it was the best pizza I ever had, I thought that the cheese could have been higher quality, but for the area it was quite good, and we will try it again soon!

It’s not the worst, not the best. I ordered a one topping large pie, originally pepporoni(they were out of pepperoni?!) but ended up sausage. It was a quick 10 minute order accompanied with some great mozzarella sticks. The pizza was well made with appropriate amounts of cheese and sauce w/a great portion of sausage. The pizza as a whole was unimpressive and not so flavorful, maybe awesome if I were buzzed, but to be the«top 2 of pizza joints in jersey» I was left wanting less.

Really good pie. Special on large pie with one topping, 2ltr soda and mozzarella sticks was economical, always good. The pasta fagioli soup is amazing. Really amazing. Delivery was speedy. Crust was thin but chewy, not gummy though. My new fave place for pizza delivery.

Had a large ‘House Special’ style pie delivered. VERY slow on delivery(quoted 40 min, more like 90 min) especially when consider it was a Monday evening(and nobody watches MNF anymore). I didn’t dock any stars for the slow delivery because I was just happy to get a decent pizza after traveling much of the evening to get to town. My crust was thin and very chewy. Not really bubbly or crispy. It had the right amounts of sauce and cheese. Excellent quality toppings and very good even coverage across the entire pizza, which bumped it from a 3 to a 4 star rating. Nice aroma. A good value considering how much of the food in the Jersey City area feels a little overpriced.

Hey, it’s not the best of the best, but for $ 1.75 it’s pretty freaking good. The slices are pretty big and the pizza seems to always be fresh(unusual for the location and size of the place). The cheese pretty much drips right off into your mouth. Great price, great pizza, great service… try it out.

It’s not Totono’s or Grimaldi’s but it’s very good pizza. Good enough to get my wife, who hates pizza, to eat two slices. Crust: thin, crispy Sauce: not overly sauced. Nice balance of sweetness and tomatoey tartness. Cheese: Not fresh mozzarella but much better than average. Not overdone in quantity Delivery was prompt and courteous.
