I just found this little cozy coffee shop in my neighborhood on CUP. I tried their Vietnamese cold brew and it was tasty. The coffee is strong and sweet. It is great for a afternoon coffee break from work. I would like to bring a book and sit there to enjoy sometimes. The food others ordered looks nice. I would def go back to try other items!

I can’t comment too much because I’ve only been here a couple of times for coffee, and was in and out pretty quickly. But with that said, I must say that I’ve enjoyed my visits and will most likely continue to come back to try more of their menu. I’ve only had the Americano and almond croissant(baked by Balthazar), but very high quality products. The Americano tastes very good, not bitter at all. Definitely wakes me up quick! And the croissant was soft, flakey, almondy happiness that complemented my coffee very well. The woman at the counter on Saturday mornings is very friendly and informative. The café itself is small, but comparable to many other locally-owned coffee shops in the area. A decent amount of seating, but definitely not a place for a big group over 3 – 4 people. It also looks very neat and clean, and gives a calm, quiet type of vibe. Free wifi, just ask the counter for the network and password. If you really like their coffee, they also sell pre-packaged bags of coffee beans. If you’re in a rush though, I recommend using cash over credit card. And if you need a receipt, you’ll probably have to ask because I haven’t received one(but I didn’t need one either lol). I definitely look forward to trying out more items, especially the adobo special!

Short Grain has been a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. My husband and I eat there often with our toddler son. We go there so often they remember our usual order. The staff is friendly and brings your food to your table. The place is clean and welcoming and we have found to be awesome to bring a stroller right up beside our table without bothering other patrons. When the weather was warmer we ate outside right out front. The food is amazing; it is fresh and made to order. Some of our favorites are the avocado toast, the spring rolls with dipping sauce, the roasted cauliflower sandwich, which is my favorite, the roasted cauliflower small plate(it is a little spicy), and the coconut curry chicken sandwich. We also enjoy the coffee as well as the fresh juices; we are a big fan of the green juice.

I’ve been on a bit of an avocado toast kick recently. It seems like a really simple dish, and it’s not that complicated in terms of ingredients, but execution is everything. Instagram has informed me that short grain’s avocado toast game is fire, so when doing some Christmas shopping and in the area I had to stop in. Instagram was indeed correct, their avocado toast is fire, and definitely get the egg on it. Lattes and iced coffee are also good, but I wasn’t a fan of their ginger shot.

We absolutely love this place! The coffee is amazing and the food is fresh and not processed. I love real organic avocado. Thank you for opening such a great location.

Stopped here to get a quick brunch, this place is pretty amazing. We had their. Cortado which is second to none. They have all the usual espresso suspects. Also I find their menu options comparable to any good café in Manhattan. I had the red juice, they also had a green juice. The red juice was decent. Then I had the avocado toast with an egg on top. It was amazing. A simple dish very well executed. I didn’t get to taste a lot of the menu because it was just me eating. I will definitely be back when I am in the hood to give it a try again. It’s a great place to get a cuppa coffee and some lunch.

I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while. A small, cozy space with a friendly staff — kind of off the beaten path. It’s a great place to just hang out without the pressure of being rushed to accommodate others. They have a relatively slow but steady line of customers. I only had some tea and a cookie — the cookie was great! They have a lot of other interesting things on their menu(I got my eye on you avocado toast), but so far I’m a fan! Updated review to come once I try the food.

I’m officially hooked. Move over beechwood, mama’s got a new favorite go-to lunch spot. The menu had me at «pork bellyyyyyyy». The combination of pickled radishes, cilantro, cucumber, and of course pork bellyyyyyy, sandwiched between 2 pieces of soft bread with just the right amount of crust on the bread, keeps me coming back for more. Since my first encounter a month ago, I’ve been back 4 times. Although the shop is tiny with about 5 tables and window/bar seating, it’s never been crowded so I have been able to get a seat(stroller and all) every time. There was one day I opted for the avocado and egg on toast, it was good but I would highly recommend the PORKBELLYYYYY sandwich instead. I don’t consume coffee so I can’t opine on one of Short Grain’s main commodities, but TRYTHEPORKBELLYYYYY!

Leaving Newport in a couple of days so I really hope I could explore this neighborhood more thoroughly, hence I’m coming and visiting short grain, which is actually not close to my place. It was indeed a small coffee shop with only three tables; however you would definitely miss the gem if you believe they only carry coffee here. Their roasted cauliflower was definitely a must-try; and if you are hungry enough, go for their green egg or avocado toast. Well representing this neighborhood — casual, laid-back and bright.

This review is only for their drinks. I’ve tried both their green and red juices which were nothing special. In fact one of their juices(don’t remember which one) was a bit overkill on the ginger. I also tried their Vietnamese cold brew just for the sake of trying something different… and definitely was not my thing(way too sweet). Their food looks pretty good though so if I decide to go back maybe I will try that.

Excellent Banh Mi — pork belly! Probably the best I’ve had outside of Ho Chi Minh City. The bread was perfect, meat was tender and flavorful and the accompanying pickled stuff were crunchy, and whatever sauce they use, makes it into a perfect combination. The cold brewed Vietnamese iced coffee was also really good — made with condensed milk. Just a word of caution for people with peanut allergy — the sandwich may have some in it. My son is allergic to peanuts and he took a bite and had a reaction.

Delicious! I saw a sign on the corner of Montgomery and Marin and I decided to give it a try two weekends ago. My boyfriend and I stopped in on a Saturday for Brunch. We ordered the Avocado Toast, the Green Eggs & Spam and a cappuccino. The food was presented nicely and it was absolute perfection. My only gripe is the portions. I eat a lot and for $ 9, I got only half a meal. I ended up getting the second half of my breakfast somewhere else. Overall, a good place to try. Food is expensive, but it is delicious. Coffee is spectacular too.
