Mordi’s Schnitzel Truck

I love that JC has a truck with REAL Israeli street food. I miss Israel mainly because of the food. As I’m walking home from work I see this truck a block away from my apt like a miracle and I was starving. I got a sabikh (my fave) and a falafel plate for my husband (ended up being for me lol) …besides it being sooooo delicious he was so nice, gave huge portions and the price is great… So happy to find this truck wow!

This is THE BOMB. I wish there was a more reliable way to know when I could have schnitzel sandwiches in my life, but but when the opportunity arises, I always get the chicken or eggplant and am always incredibly pleased.

My best friend lives in jersey city and when she found this place she kept raving about it. When day when I went over she treated me to some schnitzel and it’s the best I’ve had so far. I can’t wait to go back just to get some Mordis

Schnitzel… not a word I use often, let alone eat, but I branched out this weekend because my friend and I were trying different food trucks and this was by far, hands down, my favorite truck.
My girlfriend and I split the Chicken Schnitzel Platter, which came with 4 peices of chicken, fries, and two sacues (the best part). We chose the pesto aioli, and garlic lemon aioli. It was a great lunch and I am so glad I branched out and tried. Peer pressure at its best.

Outstanding. I visited this truck for the second straight time while visiting Pier 13 in Hoboken. I don’t like to consider myself a creature of habit, but I have ordered their Americano schnitzel combo sandwich twice and I can hardly think of ever ordering anything else. The combination of thinly sliced eggplant and chicken lightly breaded and fried and topped with lettuce, tomato, pickled onions and some of the best garlic Aoli you’ll ever try keeps it hard to resist.

Only giving it 4 stars due to the incosistency of being in Jersey City. Other then that, the food is on point. The combo (chicken and eggplant) is top notch. The sauces they make for their sandwiches are also very good. A big fan of the pesto sauce. I would recommend for anyone in the area looking for a quick bite to eat. Make sure you call first as they aren’t always in Jersey City.

The cutlets are some of the best I’ve ever had. Theres two things in my opinion as to what makes a cutlet fantastic. One, its the cutlet to be crunchy, not that soggy soft piece of chicken. Two, I prefer my cutlets pounded thin, and mordis does both of these. The man who runs the truck is friendly as well, I went to the truck at little after 11, and he told me he didnt open till 1130, but still made me my food anyway. As another reviewer said, I wish he had a more consistent schedule, but I wont hold it against him. Must try if youre in Jersey City.

Because he comes when he pleases and never sticks to a schedule, he has lost a long time customer. And I’m sure others agree. Honestly, it’s very poor business practice to never have a consistent schedule. I can understand a day or two here and there but it’s borderline absurd. You say come July you’ll be here regularly and so far this month and last few weeks you come once a week if that. Some days on Tuesday, others on just Thursday and sometimes not at all. Tuesday through Thursday used to be the days I looked forward to when coming home and dinner wasn’t set and could grab a sandwich but Because there have been at least 9 different occasions that I’ve had to go elsewhere, it’s no longer something that interests me. Sorry, but I’m sure others will follow.
Food is fantastic, but it’s a shot in the dark when he’ll be there. And I’ll leave it at that.

Perfection. Try the Italiano. If you are on the fence, stop bickering and go find this truck. Mordis will take good care of you.

Everything is good, but the Mediterranean Eggplant sub with hot sauce is something I will dream about at night

Phenomenal sandwiches — a bit on the oiler side but it’s just so good!!!
Don’t forget the sweet potato soup! Yum…

Seeing how great the reviews are, I was expecting this to be FANTASTIC. It was good, but not as good as I had hoped it would be.
— I originally wanted the Mediterranean schnitzel sandwich, however they had run out of buns. It was a pretty big disappointment.
— the schnitzel itself was quite dry. It was okay, but I wasn’t thrilled with it. I could easily make this at home.
— the hummus I had was delicious! It was creamy, hearty, and had a wonderful essence. Definitely the best part of my meal!
— the coleslaw was great, too. It was red, which was pretty neat, and wasn’t too greasy or oily. It was just right.

This is all you need to know: Mordi’s is the schnit.
Ain’t absolutely nothin’ schnitty (necessary pun overkill) about his sandwiches; they are cheat-​meal worthy, weeks in a row.

Amazing food with great variety, and an awesome dude running the truck. Mordi’s doesn’t get nearly enough praise.
Mordi is a Seahawks fan though. Don’t hold it against him.

Never had a schnitzel before Mordi’s, but man is it good! I got the Mediterranean chicken sandwich the first time round and was craving it ever since. Definitely give it a try. And don’t forget to add the spicy sauce.

Absolutely delicious! The chicken is thin, crispy and flavorful, and the combination of ingredients in the sandwich are a perfect complement. This may be my favorite sandwich in Jersey City so far!

Simple good. Very good taste. chicken is crispy, fried to perfection. That in the middle of bread, it is a winner.

YOU ARE STARVING.
You’ve had that deli food once already and that other deli twice this week, you had a burger, maybe got chinese delivery and you really don’t want any of that again, but being in Jersey City your options are limited. On top of that, you’ve left your desk already and you need to get back soon, clock ticking and all of that.
You look on Unilocal for inspiration and you realize you’re scrolling through the same pictures you’ve been looking at for 3 years until you see this Schintzel thing. What the hell is a Schnitzel? I thought it was a potato thinger, anyway, it is some chicken breast pounded thin, breaded and fried. Filling but not heavy, compared to a chicken cutlet — got it?
Anyway, the Italiano is delicious, that’s what I got. Schnitzel, fresh Mozz, roasted peppers, grape tomatoes, chopped romaine with basil and pesto aioli drillzed on top served between some fresh and soft Italian bread.
Just a good guy making good sandwiches. Still reading? you could of been on that line and been done ordering already.

The guys at this truck are so friendly. I felt bad for ordering right when they were closing up but they were so sweet about it. I’ve only had their schnitzel platter (4 big pieces of schnitzel, side salad, fries, and two condiments for $ 10) but it was very good and filling. I saved half for lunch the next day. Crispy fried, but light, chicken and a tangy side salad. Fries were also good. Not greasy or heavy at all. The condiments were good as well, I had the hummus and pesto aioli which was my favorite. I’d buy a jar of their pesto aioli if I could. It was great with the fries.
Last time I came, they parked on the far corner of the Grove Street PATH station. It’s convenient for bus and train commuters and the food comes out pretty quick. Definitely try this place if you want something inexpensive and yummy.

Delicious schnitzel with homemade ingredients. Definitely try the Mediterranean.
Or if available as a special, the falafel is perfectly crispy without being overdone. It is served on a hero roll, but that’s still fine by me.
