Love this place! It offers all kinds of choices for food. If your not sure what you want you can’t go wrong with Jacks! Delicious food at great prices!

Great variety and fast service. The décor keeps the place cool to look at while dining.

I really love Jack’s! Every since it opened I have been a fan — I used to go to Cootie Brown’s before which is the sister restaurant and original but I love the bar at Jack’s and the always friendly bartenders. The owners who are brothers are frequently around and I have gotten to know they pretty well. I am really impressed with the fresh ingredients and home cooked style of food but still a really great variety and many unique dishes. Great selection of beers and a full /large bar area is really a nice place to spend brunch or watch sports which attracts a good and fun crowd. Thursday’s are $ 3 draft beer day which is a good deal. I recently tried the Cactus Burger and it was truly amazing. A mixture of beef and chorizo topped with a grilled desert cactus. yes you heard right cactus and it is a new favorite. It was a first for me and an example of the fun and good food here. Also the grilled salmon burger is fresh not frozen and quite good as well with a pretzel bun. My favorite appetizer is the fried green tomatoes southern style(with grits). well executed and quite good especially for brunch. For seafood fans I really love the Mussels and pasta. The marinara sauce is quite good and get extra bread for dipping. There are plenty of southern sides as well like soup beans and flapjjack. you have to try it. lol and steamed veggies. Not everything is perfect but with really nice staff and fun food it is a great place to hang out and enjoy yourself as well as gather with friends.

The quesadillas are huge and the steak was Delish! Was my first time in Johnson city and it was nice to go here and relax and have a drink and a good meal!

Jacks is one of my favorite places to eat when I’m in Johnson City. From the funky atmosphere to the huge serving sizes, I’m always pleased when I go there. The Wiley Coyote quesadilla is my favorite, but the burgers are pretty good and the fried pickles are amazingly good. If you leave hungry it’s your own fault!

It’s a very eclectic restaurant with pretty good food. Their steaks are surprisingly delicious, too. Their drinks aren’t the strongest, but they do taste good.

Ok food, good service, and cool décor. I think the food tastes better at Cootie Browns, but I prefer the menu at Jack’s. There’s more variety and portions seem larger. I got the buffalo chicken wrap which was alright, but it was dripping juices everywhere. The shoestring fries were crispy but not my fav either. I think ill come back and try the drinks next time.

Well, it was ok. Wife’s fajitas were good, my cactus burger was ok. Flight of beer was a good option. Wife’s sangria was WAY too sweet, made a pals tea taste sour and couldn’t even taste the wine. Her margarita was kind of bland and lifeless. The waiter talked too much and then took forever to bring our check when we were done. On second thought, maybe it was a little less than ok.

Cool place. Funky décor. Cold beer. Good food– except some of the Mexican dishes. They have a seasoning i don’t care for. Not sure what it is, but doesn’t suit me. Burgers are really good and really big. Service is OK– certainly not bad. Price is reasonable, as portions are all generous. Consider sharing if your not fairly hungry.

Sat at the bar and was greeted by a friendly bar staff. It was football Saturday and they where very accommodating considering I want to watch the 2 Michigan games. I ordered the chips and cheese, huge portion size. I then went for the quesadilla and wow! Huge portion it’s more of a pizza than anything. I’d recommend to others, nothing amazing but definitely good.

Pretty good but the menu isn’t as enticing as Cootie Brown’s. It might be more fun if you’re having drinks. Alas, it was lunch on a work day so I missed out on that aspect. I had the Mediterranean Salad which is pretty much the same as at CB’s…except it had a huge pile of rock hard sundried tomatoes that were difficult to chew let alone enjoy and at CB’s they offer wheat or gluten free flatbread with the salad. No choices here. The service was fine but not that genuinely friendly vibe they have at CB’s and it’s not as easy to eat healthy.

While traipsing thru these southern states, seeing the sights and whatnot, The Lovely Lady brings me here for Prickly Pear margaritas. There’s tons of booze at the house… but OoohhKaay. The drink was nice. A lil sweet for my taste, but alrite nonetheless. I ordered the fried green tomatoes. As the son of Southern parents, it may be a shame that I’ve never had these. Mom /Dad kinda scaled back on the fried foods. only making– chicken, fish, okra, pork chops and that’s abt it. The tomatoes had a nice crunchy corn meal coating BUT it constantly fell off, did not adhere as if it was running away fron the tomato. The cheesy grits that were served with it were pretty damn good. Made me want to make some grits when I got back home. Altho what brought it all together was the spicy remoulade that the Lovely Lady asked for after the fact. tangy, hot, sweet. perfect complement to the dish. The waiter was attentive. Great with the water and constantly checking up on us. Overall, Excellent service. Maybe I was tipsy… but It Felt Right.

Beer sampler was great to see food was not bad but not overly great either. Waiter didn’t seem to know his stuff to well and was kinda in the weeds without needing to be. I would try this place again just maybe change the waiter and try some different food.

First time and last time. We ordered wings to start off with. Requested they be fried for 25 mins with sauce on the side. They came within about 15 mins and drenched in sauce. Asked if they could send them back to the fryer longer.(Keep in mind the place was empty). They came back in five more mins with even more sauce. They were floating in sauce and it wasn’t good sauce at that. we ordered celery too(their wings don’t come with any), which didn’t make it to us. Had to go find the bartender who was sitting in the back eating her lunch to ask for our celery. The bartender seemed more interested in eating her lunch that making sure we were okay. Needless to say, we didn’t order anything else(which we originally planned to do) and left to go eat somewhere else.

No matter if you are a local, or just visiting Jack’s is a must! Their food selection is amazing. You can get from burgers, wraps, sandwiches all the way to huge 12 inch quesadillas, sit down dinners like chicken and fish. Their staff is usually really great, occasionally you get a bad egg. Staff are all usually college age as it seems like they look to attract the college crowds. It is a great place to bring family, children even a date. My husband and I currently live in San Diego but Jack’s is a must when we come home to east Tennessee. The atmosphere is fun, and they have creative decorating tastes. There is a fully loaded bar, and their tvs always have the ball games on. Don’t judge them based on their appearance. When you try them, save room for dessert and try their fried ice cream, it is literally the best ice cream I have had in my 23 years. Seriously save room their portions are HUGE and well worth the price. We usually only eat half and box the rest, then share dessert!

Come hungry, because the portion sizes at this place are out of control. When they say Giant Burrito, they really mean it. The food is pretty good, especially given the price point. It won’t be the best meal of your life, but it’s pretty likely that you’ll have a good experience, enjoy your meal, not pay too much, and leave with a box. Not a bad place to stop.

Since this is the joint that introduced me to the addicting«Prickley Pear Margarita“I decided to go with 3 stars.(any other joint 2 stars) Yeah this place has a great vibe, and I’ve always enjoyed myself. Good food, and most definitely, awesome cocktails. But this visit left a bad taste in my mouth.Literally.I chose the Chicken Chimichanga. Let me say, I’m not a picky eater and pretty easy to satisfy. But damn, this thing was Horrible! It was covered in what appeared to be enchilada sauce, that was bitter. The chicken was dry, and barely any cheese. What’s a chimi that’s not smothered and covered in ooey gooey cheese? Pure torture! The service was definitely off. We actually got our app’s before our Margarita’s.I need’s my cocktails immediately, if not sooner. Ooookaay? The dinner order got screwed up. Because we shared an appetizer, the server thought we were sharing dinner…(pause)??? Needless to say the server seemed to be out in left field and pre-occupied with something other than her job. I won’t swear off Jack City. Main reason those darned margarita’s.However, no more Chimi’s for me.

Tonight(12÷7÷12) was one of my first times eating in Jack’s in some time; I’m quite the fan of their sister restaurant here in town(Cootie Brown’s). Let’s start with the positives: The wait we were first given was 15 minutes. The host staff trimmed that down to 5 within a few seconds. Very courteous. Our server was extremely pleasant, and was flexible in asking for our requests — my mother ordered fried green beans, which are a seasonal item and wasn’t listed on the menu and got them. She also asked for a California wrap; something they only serve at lunchtime, and got that, too. Appetizers: The fried green beans, as well as the fried green tomatoes with grits I ordered were fantastic. Well worth the price of admission. The entrée I received was a different story, altogether. I ordered the ‘deep fried fish sandwich’. And for a near $ 7 price tag, I expected something resembling decent, actual breaded fish. What came to me was a little, greasy, square fish patty(think McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish, just thinner and over-fried) on an oversized bun. If not for the rather tasty house made tartar sauce on the sandwich making it palatable, I would have sent it back untouched and changed my order. Something I do regret later, but I’ve always seen fit to eat my ‘mistakes’ when menu hopping backfires. So, I’ll be eating here again, but that will be the first and last time I ever order that awful sandwich. 3-star review, with plans in future to let the place redeem itself.

From a menu I had trouble finding something that interested me, a moderately decent blackened chicken sandwich. Cassie the barkeep recommended a Firewater IPA — a good choice. But not much else good to say. They could stand to revamp their menu, I think.

I was on vacation and this venue’s cute crafty décor and hot sizzling fajita for lunch made my mood upward :) Thanks. Fajita was a little on salty side but it was OK. Would have been better if veggies were more crunchy and peppered generously. Didn’t know this but in Johnson City, local drinks black tea instead of coffee. So, I asked unsweetened iced tea, and when my lunch was over, our waitstaff made a refill to-go, without a charge! Is this a southern hospitality? Very nice, I was touched. Thanks so much! The venue is fairly nice, situated with large open tables and booth seats. Filled with handcrafts, complete with free Wi-Fi. Ample of parking spaces.
