I currently started working for Chesters chicken at the Johnstown pa location and I read these reviews about this place. I’m sorry if anyone has had a less than happy experience here whether on taste or service! since this location is quite small we are only scheduled one employee per shift so sometimes we are in back doing dishes or prepping chicken which is why there is a bell to ring for service located on the chesters counter for your convenience. As far as taste goes, chicken hold times under heat lamp is 2 hours max, BUT if you prefer you can always ask us to drop you some chicken down fresh & hot for you, if you have 13 mins to spare for bone in chicken or 5 mins for boneless strips! we strive to make our customers happy and to deliver satisfactory food and an overall pleasant experience for everyone! sauces are located on a turn stand ontop the chesters counter for customers to retrieve their selves along with many other condiments and napkins and cutlery! Our register is only for our employess to ring your order up but payment is taken over at the main stores register so we apologize for any inconvienence this may cause our customers! our display case only holds the most popular fast selling items, other menu items are made to order per customers request! Family packs and large orders can be called in ahead of time to guarantee freshness without the wait! with all this being said, we will strive to do whatever we need to make sure your needs as a customer are met and your experience a pleasant one at chesters chicken! Hope to see you soon, stop down for some of our good food and give us a try!

I was so excited to try this place since Johnstown isn’t known for having a diverse selection when it comes to the food scene. I know it’s a chain, but I was impressed that it existed in this area, but my enthusiasm was short lived. This particular location is located within a Sunoco gas station in the busy section of Johnstown. What I mean by that is that it is in the hospital section of city, so loosely, it is busy. When you walk in, it is really small, unorganized, and does not resemble anything like a fast food restaurant. What’s worse is that service is mostly non-existent. I walked in, right up to the small counter and waited forever. No one showed up. I walked over to the main counter for the convenience store part(which is about 12 feet away) and asked for another item I needed since I was here anyway. They didn’t have it and asked if I was looking for service at the food counter. Of course I did, so they yelled for the girl that was working instead of going back to get her. After that it was a somewhat fast experience. I opted for the three chicken strip meal with potato wedges and a biscuit. Now, the food would have been better rated by me if it hadn’t been cook quite earlier that day and left to rest under the heat lamps. Even the biscuit was hard and dry. I might have been able to finish this off in a little bit of pleasure if I was offered the dipping sauce that was suppose to come with the meal. Drinks are dispensed from the fountain, Pepsi is the choice here, but for some odd reason they have Gatorade on tap instead of Sierra Mist. Anyway, yes it’s a chain, I know. Now the funny thing here is that the Chester’s Chicken counter has it’s own register, but if you want to pay, you have to go to the convenience store counter to actually pay. What is the use of that register if you don’t actually intend to use it? Would I make this a regular place for me to stop? No, but I would possibly come back if I knew they just made a fresh batch.

SURPRISINGLY good for chicken from a gas station, lol. Especially in the wake of the loss of Local KFCs, give this place a try! Plus, it is almost right across from habits… fried chicken and beer… you can’t go wrong.
