I have always heard mixed reviews about this place! Some people love it and some dislike it! The location of this restaurant isn’t hard to find. There is a big sign by a busy road that is easy to spot. Parking is a breeze with plenty of spots available so you don’t have to worry about door dings. The décor of restaurant is definitely from the 80s if not early 90s! My in laws have been here in the past and said it hasn’t changed since they have been going here. The bathroom is pretty small. They do have a bar but I really cannot comment on anything there. There are a lot of selections on the menu. I could not make up my mind so I went with steak and se! It was a Delmonico steak that was not that great at all. I went medium rare and it came out med well! I didn’t really complain about it since it was a bday dinner. I also went with the langostinos which were awesome!!! They were served with drawn butter! Excellent choice for sure! They also had a salad bar free with and dinner entrée! It was a simple salad bar with soup! The soup they had available was corn chowder and beef barely! The corn chowder was simply amazing!!! It also came with homemade dinner rolls which were out of this world!!! My wife went with the salmon stuffed with crab meat and that was simply amazing! This is definitely a place to go for the seafood! The service was about average! Nothing to go crazy about nor to be disappointed about! We weren’t really wowed by it! She was definitely attentive and friendly! Prices weren’t too bad either for the type of restaurant this place was going for. It is what it to be expected for sure. All in all, I give this place 3 stars because of the awesome quality sea food, but the sub par steaks. I’ll give it another shot but stick with the seafood.

Food is fair, service slow. Prices too high. 4 Bacon-wrapped Scallops $ 11.00 That’s $ 2.75 each! Jumbo Lobster Tails are 6 oz… LOL

Great place to stop in Johnstown… Food was great… Get here early, you wouldn’t believe how fast this place fills up… Service was very good… Waitress very attentive… Wide variety on the menu… If I could improve one thing, it would be the lighting… This place is pretty dark…

All I can say is, this man knows good fish and how to cook it. Now that Lombardo’s is no more, there is no other choice in Johnstown for great fish. I don’t really care for the interior or the salad bar, but the high quality of the fish I’ve had there eclipses the shortcomings.

A must stop if in Johnstown! Awesome prime rib and killer broiled crab cakes. Free salad bar and friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere. Ask for Gloria!

The beauty of the Surf ‘n Turf Inn is that it remains a true Johnstown establishment and that it hasn’t changed in over 30+ years. This is also the sad thing about the dining experience… it’s like stepping back in time 30+ years. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good. Our Delmonico steaks were large, well cooked and tasty. The fried shrimp were the star and delicious. The langostinos were plentiful but pretty bland, the highlight being that they were served with drawn butter… and who doesn’t like seafood dipped in butter?! The salad bar is your basic salad bar, nothing really outstanding but everything was fresh. The soups were just mediocre at best. That being said… the restaurant itself could truly use an updating and overhaul. The décor. Sigh. It seriously looks the same as it did when I was a little girl… and I’m 47 years old. I don’t think they’ve changed a single thing. Granted, décor shouldn’t matter when you’re talking good food, but for the prices you pay… it’s like a weird contradiction of itself. It’s dark, dated and just plain odd… and they use paper«place mats» and napkins. Despite the need for an updating… our waitress was very attentive and our meals arrived relatively fast. There were a lot of people eating there for a Saturday night and everyone seemed happy with their meals.

If you’re looking for a homemade, not chain(which is difficult to find in the area) fresh seafood and steaks. Definitely be ready to pay for the quality. Great place for a nice Date or special occasion! For my graduation, my stepdad took me here. Stuffed 40 Oz lobster tail! Whattt?! Eating is believing! I recommend Surf and Turf!

I have eaten here several times and have always enjoyed the food. The seafood is always good and they have a good salad bar. The service can sometimes be questionable but the food makes up for it.

If you ever find yourself in Johnstown, PA, then you should try the best restaurant in town — the Surf n’ Turf Inn. It is an old school, retro steak house that serves great food. Family members in town go often for the prime rib and lobster tails which are huge and delicious. Recently, we were in town for Easter and decided to have a family dinner at Surf n’ Turf. We reserved the Petite Room which fits 12 people comfortable and has a small fireplace and a window. We started at the soup and salad bar(which is available on its own for $ 10.95) and it was very nice. There were several soups — the cream of mushroom is delicious — and plenty of items on the salad bar from greens to macaroni and potato salad and pudding. We had a number of appetizers: escargots, frog’s legs, crab stuffed mushrooms, fried calamari, bacon-wrapped scallops and mozzarella sticks — all were very good and served hot. Many at the table ordered the prime rib which is a massive slab of meat, juicy, tender and cooked to order. Others had seafood and chicken, surf and turf combinations and everything was very tasty. We finished up with coffee and desserts — three of us ordered the pecan ball, which is a ball of ice cream rolled in pecans and topped with caramel, chocolate or hot fudge and whipped cream. A great finish to a wonderful night. The service was great, prices were reasonable and everyone had a great meal. Highly recommended.

Went with parents while visiting Johnstown. It is a older restaurant which could use a update. The service was prompt and efficient. The salad bar had two soups which parents had both liked. I had the salad selections which we’re so so. Parents had pork chops which were two large ones on both their plates. I had the Maryland crab cakes which are quite tasty. Overall food quality is good and priced reasonably for amount you receive.

Overpriced — we didn’t order food because our table got wet during the last rain storm. Menu as outdated as the décor and as pleasant as the male hostess. Just go some place else and don’t waste your time.

Do you remember that restaurant your parents would only go to on special occasions when you were young? They would talk about it for days in advance. You would watch your mom fix her hair, put on her make up and pick out a beautiful dress as she got ready to go out. Adults would talk about this restaurant as a staple for romance and commitment. «They are getting serious now. He took her there.» «It’s our anniversary, we have to go there.» Children never got to go. As a child, this restaurant was always out of reach. This was Surf and Turf to me. I grew up and moved away never having gone to Surf and Turf. When my younger sister recently informed me that she wanted to go to Surf and Turf to celebrate her college graduation, I smiled knowing it was the perfect place for such a special occasion, or so I thought. When we arrived at SnT, we were seated promptly per our reservations. I was immediately taken aback by the dated décor. I could see how this place might have been romantic in the 80’s but now that it’s 2013, it just looks old. I asked our waitress for a high chair knowing that I was breaking the cardinal rule of bringing a child to SnT. The look on her face when she saw my baby said it all. This is not a child friendly place. After a few minutes, she brought over an old, rusted metal high chair that obviously hadn’t been used in years seeing the straps did not work and there was an inch of dust on it. No thanks. I’ll pass on that death trap. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. When our waitress finally came back with our drinks she was not ready to take our order. So we waited again. When she finally took our order, I realized that I would not have time to actually wait for a full meal so I ordered the famous salad bar. I went up to gather my meal and was immediately appalled. Iceberg lettuce, vegetables that looked like they had been sitting out for days, golden italian dressing(channel Hoss’s) and the soup! That supposedly homemade soup which was described to me as beef barley was beef vegetable out of a can. How do I know you ask? I found alphabet letters in my soup. I can’t imagine any soup that was homemade has alphabet letters in it. There’s no way to argue that one. I then asked the waitress for the bread that I saw on other tables in hopes that a warm roll would at least fill my tummy. I was given an «I will.» and a look that she was too busy to actually serve her table. Needless to say, I left SnT 10 minutes later never having gotten the bread. The only reason SnT has two stars was because my sister later told me that she and our other dinning companions somewhat enjoyed their meals. In conclusion, barring a direct invitation to celebrate another special occasion, I will try my best to avoid SnT at all costs. Not everything fo your childhood is at good as it seems.

Whenever we are in Johnstown to visit relatives, we MUST stop at Surf and Turf. Yes, the décor is somewhat dated, but it is somehow fitting to the history of the place. Most important, the food is wonderful. A great«roadhouse» type salad bar, fabulous fish and great beef! The crab cakes are some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the country — no filler here! Lamb chops and prime rib stand out, too. Our waitress Gloria is a true pro, knowing how to anticipate diners’ needs. You will not be disappointed here!

I suppose that for this area this restaurant is top level. I was not ooverly impressed with the service. We had a large party for a business dinner. The food was fair. I ordered the lobster tail. had to request steam veggies from the kitchen because the only sides offered were baked potato, hash or french fries!!! Thought that was strange. The scallops wrapped in bacon were delish. The crab cocktail, not so much. The décor was very old. They could use a makeover!!! i am not sure that I would go back. Maybe I guess!

Surf & Turf Inn has an «old school» steakhouse vibe. Their salad bar, which consists of two soups and the usuals for a salad, is very good. Their steaks and prime ribe are good as is their seafood. It can get crowded after 6PM so expect to wait for your food.

The locals seem to really like this place, and if you’re «not from around here» and looking for a place for straight-forward, nothing fancy dining, go here! The service is good and friendly and the food is pretty good as well.

An institution in Johnstown since 1978. Best crab cakes for many, many miles around — maybe anywhere. Anything with the jumbo lump crabnmeat is not to be missed. The steaks and lamb chops are exceptional, as well as any of the seafood entrees. The menu has something for everyone. There’s no way you can leave here hungry. Homemade soups on the salad bar, house baked rolls. Excellent staff, most have been there for decades. No trip to Johnstown is complete without a visit to the Surf & Turf.

One of the finer places to dine at in Johnstown. It does not compare with Harrigan’s, but it is one of the town’s top notch steak and seafood restaurants. I can’t believe they do not have a website, but then again, this is Johnstown. They need to find the internet… someone tell them! They have a very nice soup and salad bar. The menu consists of prime rib, steaks, seafood offerings of every kind and so much more. I always enjoyed the service. Skip(a gal) was always my favorite server. They have a nice sized bar and lounge. Dress nice, no jackets or ties,(well some do), but either casual elegance or a step up will fit you right in. In Johnstown, the prices are always right and fair!
