I can only assume this restaurant has such high reviews because so many people only come to review pies they pick up to go. We were there last Saturday night with our family. The first thing you notice is the shoddy parking lot and steady stream of people meandering through the parking lot. Maybe a fence along the back would help. When we got into the restaurant, we were greeted by three employees sitting in a booth. Apparently there wasn’t much to do since the place was empty on a Saturday night at 6:00. We were taken to our table and while it had been cleaned, it wasn’t done well so we had to ask to have the crumbs and syrup cleaned off before we sat down. Our waitress was very friendly. She gets the one star. But I was surprised that some of our food still came out cold. What could they have all been doing? A couple of other tables came in while we were there but the place was basically empty the entire time 5:45 — 7:00.

I gave it one star because there was nothing lower and this review is based on service alone. Ridiculous. Less than 5 tables seated and servers just walking past us like we were invisible. We finally left because we got tired of being ignored

I ran in quickly this weekend to pick up some dessert last minute. I was helped right away and they boxed my pies quickly. It was about $ 26 for a pecan pie and a French silk, so not too bad. It was a Saturday night around 8pm and they were dead, but it allowed them to provide me with very fast service!

I can’t speak for the restaurant itself… But I ordered a pie online for pickup the next day. The gentleman who handled my transaction was super friendly and polite. I was in and out of there in less than five minutes. Terrific

Super delicious. Free pie Wednesday. Service could have been better but meh, great food.

This is a review for their pies only. My aunt and I stopped by Bakers the day before Thanksgiving(Wednesday) around lunchtime to pick up a pie and boy, was it packed! The parking lot was a bit of a nightmare because people were illegally parking everywhere to run in and pick up their pies and whatnot. I am sure if I went on another day, it would not have been this hectic. We waited in line for about five minutes and ordered two strawberry rhubarb pies but they were still pulling the pies out of the oven so we had to wait a few minutes after we paid to get the pie. I think the pies are around $ 12−13/pie. They have LOTS of flavor and they are known for their pies so definitely come here for the pies! The strawberry rhubarb pie was pretty good. It is not my favorite pie so I wasn’t too excited to eat it but it was not too sweet(which is good because I can’t handle way too sweet stuff) and the strawberries were HUGE!

I went last Wednesday and did not have the best experience and was overcharged. Spoke with the manager the next day. I went back today and my whole meal was free. So a bad experience turned into a good one. Thank you Bakers Square! I shall be back

Run of mill… Food is good and reasonable. Very reasonable compared to many places but, also about half the price. You can still take your wife out to dinner. Even if money is tight. The pie is always worth a visit though.

Nothing against chains because I think chains can unfairly get a bad rap, but when I’m traveling or out of town, I prefer to find the town’s local dining gems. Unfortunately, the last few months, I’ve been stuck in a loop of being with people who only dine at chains. My friend had to run an errand in Joliet and I tagged along. She picked the restaurant options and it was between BS or Outback. We ended up picking BS solely because it was free pie day. Even with the promise of free dessert, I wasn’t completely stoked about the decision. With my bad attitude in tow, we headed in and quickly decided what we wanted. I got my heart set on the Artisan Pie Shop Special($ 10) with the roasted poblano chowder, Mediterranean salad, and baja chicken wrap. With the pie shop special, you get to pick 3 options from these categories: sandwich, salad, soup and pie. I assumed that since it was free pie day, I could make my 3 choices and still get the free pie. However, once I ordered, our waitress informed me that since you’re already participating in one promotion, you don’t get the free pie. Maybe I was being greedy but I was super bummed. I still wanted my 3 menu items(don’t judge me – I hadn’t eaten anything ALL day) and my pie, so I still went ahead with my order. I was surprised but all 3 items were super fresh and tasty. The wrap was probably my favorite item as the wrap itself was a tomato-herb variety. Very yummy. The soup was pretty good too, but I was hoping for something a little spicier. This was pretty mild, but still good. The pie is always the hardest part to decide on, but I went for their pie of the month which was the Iced Mocha. Absolutely delicious and the perfect blend of coffee and chocolate. It was a little frozen and even came out with icicles on it, but I didn’t mind. This particular pie reminded me a lot of the Oreo pie, minus the cookies. All in all, my bill ended up being $ 21.00 after tax and a 20% tip. Although I was really happy with the way that everything tasted and our server was good(good but not amazing. my drink stayed empty most of my meal), I still feel like I got ripped off. This was an expensive meal and didn’t keep me full for very long. I think next time I go to Bakers Square, I will order the same meal, but ditch the lemonade for water($ 3.29), choose the soup, sandwich and pie and forget the salad. That way my meal is only $ 10 + tax and tip and a much more reasonable price for a lunch.

Best pecan pie I’ve ever had and I’ve had a few in my 47 years! Great service with a smile too. Chicken Terryaki pita has 2 thumbs up! Holly was exceptional!

Came in on Wednesday to buy a whole pie to go. Pies are $ 2 off on Wednesdays. They had what I wanted in inventory(fresh strawberry cream cheese pie), even had one in the display case. So I ordered one, and was told they don’t sell that type of pie on Wednesdays, because they cost too much to make. They were not kidding. I don’t understand it. If the pie was out of stock, OK. But they were there staring cusomers in the face, including again in the display case. If they cost too much to make, they should either stop making them or raise the price. Don’t refuse to sell what’s already made. Thought I was on Candid Camera. A pie restaurant that doesn’t want to sell pies?! Go figure. Update: I complained to customer service about my bad experience. The manager called me a couple days later, agreed with me, and explained that the guy behind the counter was confused and never should have said what he said. The manager was professional and apologetic, lessening my unhappiness.

Café food, greasy diner food, call it what you want, but it’s one of my favorites. Food snobs probably won’t consider it worth a visit, but Baker’s Square is all about simple comfort foods. And pie. Make sure you get some pie! I had the chicken bacon cheddar melt, and it was pretty good. The portion of fries seemed really small for an $ 8 meal, but it’s not like I was going to starve without a few more fries. I finished with a slice of pie, French apple pie, which was just okay. I mean, I expect a little more when a place is known for something. While the pie should be outstanding, it wasn’t much better than a pie I’d get at the grocery store. Also, I wouldn’t call it a «slice.» I got a PILE of apples, crust, and crumbles on a plate. It tastes the same regardless of shape, but pies are their THING, so shouldn’t it be shaped more like a triangle, or any geometric shape, instead of a BLOB? It wasn’t busy at all on a Sunday afternoon, and the waitress was nice and soft spoken. It’s quiet in here; I could hear every word of the couple’s conversation behind me. They weren’t being loud, it was just the setting. There’s a TV in here, ESPN was on, but they had closed captioning on. Spanish closed captioning. I don’t go to restaurants to watch TV, but I supposed it’s worth noting if you a deaf sports fan that doesn’t know Spanish. Futbol? Even though I paid $ 16 for a sandwich, fries, a slice of pie, and a drink, I left satisfied. The iced tea was almost $ 4, and had I known that, I would’ve settled for water instead. $ 16 for one person on the go seems a little overpriced. Baker’s Square is a place I’d go back to, but it’s always one of those forgotten restaurants like Applebee’s. For the area, it’s a good restaurant, since everything else I passed by was hot dog or taco places.

We don’t have a Bakers Square near us in the city so whenever we’re at my patents in Joliet, my son asks to stop here — he loves their crepes and my husband loves their French Silk pie. Not only is the food we get really good, but the service is excellent. Two different managers have been on duty the last two times we’ve been there and both were super nice and helpful. I know some reviewers have criticized the service but we’ve been very well treated.

For the record, I’ve never eaten here nor have I ever met anyone who has. With that said, they have excellent pie, which explains the longs out of this place whenever there’s a holiday coming up. The sole victor is of course, the French Silk pie at $ 12.49. This award-winning pie is a chocolate lover’s dream. Velvety smooth chocolate silk is topped with fluffy whipped cream and milk chocolate shavings. They have other pies like Banana cream pie, cherry, apple, Oreo cookie crunch, pumpkin, strawberry and so on & they vary from $ 10-$ 20 depending on which one you get of course.

Horrible service here, waited literally 15 minutes with no service. Life’s too short to eat crappy food in Joliet…

I didn’t eat here but I did by two pies to go, A banana cream and a french silk, what can you say about perfect, best tasting pies in the world, The bananas were fresh no black spots like many of the pies you get, I thought they were kind of expensive, like $ 24;00 for both but they were great
