Food was really tasty! Loved the vegetable bin on all the tables too.

Good standard Mexican food. On occasion they have some delicious home style specials. The service is quick and friendly. They also make great juice and shakes. Love the oatmeal shake.

I was surprised when they did not have any cilantro on hand. That is sort of an important ingredient in Mexican food.

I WILLNEVERGOBACKTOTHISSTUPIDPLACE. THE waitresses are DUMBAF have a fucking attitude when you ask them shit and make you wait 30 minutes to take your order or even a knowledge you were there. When I finally got my food everything was cold and oily af. I seriously never had a problem before besides the attitude but today was seriously NOACCEPTABLEFORME. I told the«lady in charge» and she seriously told me whatever that because my mom and sister ate their food mine din’t matter. The food there is not even that grate we usually just go because of the Watters but I seriously WILLNEVERGOBACK. not even if is the last place open. FUCKTHEMSTUPIDLADIES& i can careless if people get offended over my comment but I’m sure I’m not the only one that has felt that way towards them. I know the hospitality buissnes well enough to say just because you sale food and have customers it DOSENOTMAKEYOU A RESTAURANT bad management and bad workers ! I better not get sick cuz that fad was nasty that’s why I spit it back on the plate yet she said I din’t but whatever.

It’s not a date night restaurant by any means but the food is awesome and the service is great!

Pretty good food at a very great price. The chicken is usually the star of the show but the steak and pork shine most of the time as well. You do get the occasional piece of gristle but that any one of these smaller restaurants. Quesadillas are huge and come with all the fixings. Plus they are open late making it a great after bar stop

I just love it! Came a few times, the price is more than decent, the food is really tasty. The only inconvenience is that the portions may be to small… I only had chicken and barbecue tacos, both of them really good! Definitely coming back!

Tortas and tacos are solid. Steak is well-seasoned and al pastor is on point. To the folks, who are trolling the restaurant with bad reviews because of one incident. C’mon. It’s a family owned business. You’re not exactly speaking truth to power on this one.

I walked in knowing this is not a 5 star restaurant– in fact this is just a taqueria and they use plastic plates and cups. Regardless of these already low expectations, I was astounded by our server’s attitude. She was not welcoming or helpful. This unprofessional service was appalling, she also showed no sign of having any real training in serving– she served our drinks wrong(held the top of the cup). The food was mediocre and the only good thing on the menu is their fries. Which surprises me– it’s a Mexican restaurant. My overall experience was bad and I’ll probably never come back again.

Love their chicken taco dinner. Chips and salsa is the best! Fast service. It is the best Mexican place around here.

I’ve lived in Joliet all my life and I can say that this is one of the best places to get tacos. And since this restaurant is located right in the center of our own Lil’ Mexico of Joliet, that’s a challenge! Servers are alright, they seem to know my regular orders, which is thoughtful. Food is good, not too expensive. Don’t forget to try the horchata! Incredible! I think there are only like 1 – 2 English speakers though, so maybe take some classes first? XD Good restaurant!

The food is reasonably priced and the service tends to be quick. They are open very late hours which works great for them since not many other restaurants are open past say 9 pm in the area. The food is mediocre and the staff is completely unprofessional. I spoke with their corporate office regarding an Incident when a young woman with her seeing eye was refused service. Though they admitted no wrong doing they did state their staff would receive retraining specifically in dealing with the public with disabilities. I hope they were in fact retrained but that does not change that young lady was unfairly treated. The food has not ever been great and having a disabled child myself I cannot support this business.

Not sure if it was the hair ball in my shrimp plate or the rude owner that pulled it out and then told me to quit belly aching and just eat it. Maybe they were right, I should expect a fair amount of hair in my food. So Sorry! :)

Always liked the food. But now due to SERVICE, or lack thereof NEVER returning. 11.9.13 was my sisters bday and she went to enjoy one of her favorite spots., she was REFUSEDSERVICE because she is VISUALLYIMPAIRED and had her guide dog with her. They failed to accommodate her, even after she showed them her issues license to have her guide dog. Handicapped, or special needs DISCRIMINATION. Their food is not worth my HAEDEARNED money or respect. Boycotting.

I went in to this establishment on Saturday 11⁄9 for breakfast. I can’t give a review on the food because they kicked me out. I travel with a Seeing Eye dog and even after I showed our ID which states that my dog is allowed ANYWHERE that I go, the waitress refused to serve me. I was with my family and the waitress had the audacity to say that there were«plenty of people to guide me so the dog needs to go in the car.» I am an independant person and my family respects my dog and I as a working team. This establishment needs to check the laws before they discriminate. ***reposting this; my first one was taken down*** ***Re-posting my re-post… taken down again***

This place is one of my favorites. I prefer don rafa’s but Los comales is a close second. Everything I have had from here has been good but what really makes this place so good is their jalepeno/carrot pickled mix. Man that stuff is good. Wish they bottled it and sold it!

Pretty simple straight to the point review here. Me and some friends ate here on a Friday evening. We actually do not live near this area. We were going to the Rialto theater and decided to stop here since we love the«Los Comales» chain. The trip to the Rialto took us about 2 hours! Anyway, we saw this place and stopped here after the long car ride. This place was pretty slow, as in there were not many people at all. I ordered to drink a Horchata. Los Comales chain makes THE best horchata. I think they use the same mix or something because it pretty much tastes the same in all of their locations. To eat I ordered a «Torta.» A torta is a sandwich but made with a roll of bread instead of sandwich bread. You can order it vegetarian, or with chicken or beef, grilled or crispy. I ordered a breaded skirt steak torta with everything on it, which does include avocado. ;) We also got an order of guacamole. That was average. Looked like it was whipped up fast. I did not see any tomato or cilantro or the other usual things that a typical guacamole dish has. While we waited shortly for our food, I gorged on the sweet spicy carrots they have on the table in the container. Wow. My favorite carrots in the world are from Los Comales! They are not too hot and not, not spicy at all. Just perfect. I would say I had about 20 of those carrots. Man I could eat em everyday! :D Our food arrived pretty quick and then we ate. I love the green salsa bottles they give you to put some on your food. The green salsa is just the right amount of spicyness. Not too hot, just enough to give your food and tongue a kick! I also forgot to mention that in the beginning when we ordered our drinks first, the waitress asked us if we wanted chips and salsa. This is the only mexican restaurant where they actually do charge for chips and salsa. Everywhere else Ive gone, the ships and salsa were free! I absolutely HATE it when a place does that to you! They charged us for the chips. They did not warn us that they were not free. Grr. Anyway, we ate. Food was good. No complaints. Im not a picky eater and eat pretty much anything as long as it tastes good. My friend is picky so he thought the food was just average. I on the otherhand as always am extremely satisfied with this chain. We probably spent at most an hour here. Quick service, great mexican food. This chain defines mexican food. Not that garbage like taco bell or chipotle. Thats just americanized mexican. *Vomit* The tacos at los comales are small so I would recommend getting about 6 – 8. Small but tasty! The tacos are about $ 1.60 each btw. An average meal here with just drink and your main meal is easily $ 10. Not too cheap but not expensive either. Get a side or 2 and your definitely looking at paying around $ 15 or maybe more. If your group is also more than 3 people then get a table not a booth because with all the plates, drinks, and sides, the table room in the booths gets really small. Me and my other 2 friends had to re-arrange some things and had to get rid of some plates so we gave em to our waitress just to make some room. But yeah if you ever see a Los Comales Restaurant I highly recommend you eat there. You will NOT be disappointed!!!

Restaurant layout reminded me of a school cafeteria for some reason. Service here was fast, thankfully, someone there spoke English. Got 5 tacos for about $ 8. Here’s the breakdown: Steak: mushy with hardly any taste Tripe: tasty combination of chewy, crispy, slightly salty goodness pork: pleasant mild flavor Tongue: texture was rather mushy and had no flavor Barbacoa: delicious, chewy, meat tasted like it had that grill flavor to it, which made it great Wish there was a bigger menu selection. Don’t be fooled by the rating, I’m judging this place rather harshly since its in a part of town with a lot of Mexican eateries nearby.
