That was my first suburban Unique I visited. At this time, I wouldn’t say I’m a «pro» at thrifting, but I’m definitely a frequent customer to the Unique Thrift chain. They also participated the«half-off» Monday sale. We didn’t intend to come here, but hubby and I spotted this location while he was on his way to a service call at the nearby gas station. Well, the inventories were just average. I didn’t see anything exciting to write home about, but patrons had much friendlier attitude toward each other. I was«surprised» that«excuse me» was utilized verbally in a polite and respectful manner, as they were pushing their buggies and making their ways across each aisle. I’ve never seen any proper etiquette at the locations in the city. After all, every city dweller has an «attitude;» I’ve got one as well. We did score a scarf for work and a vinyl by Olivia Newton-John. The total was $ 1.42 after tax. I believe the the sales tax here in Joliet is 8% or 9%, versus 9.25% in the city of Chicago. If you care about the tax differences and want to enjoy the maximum savings, hunt for other suburban locations then. Joliet is way out of reach from where we reside, so you will still detect my presence at various Unique Thrift Stores in the city, on Mondays especially.

I am greatly familiar with this brand of Thrift stores, as I frequent the other locations throughout the Chicago land area. The prices have significantly changed over the past year or so. This store used to have really great prices, but have recently changed ownership. Since then, the prices are steadily creeping up. The best deals are on half-priced Mondays, and other half-day«special event days.» Additionally, the parking lot is extremely small and awkward. It probably only accommodates 10 cars!!!

Very expensive. Saw a new mixing bowl with a lid … It had the original store price tag still on the bottom and they charged $ 1 more than what it was brand new. What?!? Blew my mind. It’s in a shady area and there’s never a place to park.

The parking sucks. Don’t think about parking in Bakers Square. They will call and tow your car. So if the lot is full you have to park across the street at the Marycrest Shopping Center. Then cross the street. Which is Jefferson. You know, it is never busy and people don’t speed. Wrong. So I went to buy some pants. I could not find a changing room. So I went to the front to inquire about a changing room and their return policy just in case they did not have a changing room to try items on. There were three female employees talking/gossiping among themselves. Two of the saw me but continued to talk. Then one looked back and told the cashier i «might be ready to buy my stuff.» I asked her about the changing room. She told me there is not one. I asked about the return policy. «All sales final.» Well, I just dropped my two items down and walked out the door, too my car and post this. Rude policy and employees. I would give this place a zero, but alas there is no such button.

I love this thrift store. Easily the best one in Joliet. There is a sale everyday, and some days you can get 50% off anything in the store. There is a good mix of items. I usually find something good.

The parking lot is difficult to get in & out of and doesn’t have too many spots to begin with. The store itself is sort of dirty, the prices are higher than they used to be, and it smelled dusty. Pass.

I always find something good here, but it takes some searching. There is a huge selection of clothing, plus a bunch of books, games, and other odds and ends. The pricing is erratic. Sometimes things are way overpriced, but if you’ll find good deals if you have enough time to look. My biggest complaint is the price tags. They staple the tags to the clothes. I’ve bought a shirts things that have two small holes near the collar, and it’s hard to tell if it is going to leave holes until you get the clothing home and remove the tag.

I have been on a thrift store rampage as of late, and this place so far is one of the nicer ones I have come by. All the clothes are separated not only by style, but also by color. I want a black tank top, boom there’s a whole section of all black tank tops. I actually came across a few really cute dresses in my size, which was really a rare find. They seemed to focus mostly on clothes more than other products. One thing that creeped me out was the huge amount of underwear they had for sale. I just don’t think first of all I would ever donate my used drawers, but actually to purchase and wear someone else’s? Icky.

Good store to go to if you need a new pair of jeans or a cute top. But only if you don’t have the money. Most of the things in Unique are heavily used and some are barely resale. But I always like to buy a pair of jeans and then rip ‘em up a bit. Funky jeans should be only a couple bucks instead of a hundred! Also, on Mondays, everything is half price.
