V I P Salon & Spa

I decided to give VIP Salon a second chance to get a massage. I called at 10:00 AM on a Sunday and she said that she could get me in at 11:00. I was feeling SO EXCITED that I could get in so soon. I quickly got someone over to watch my kids and got myself ready to go. I walk in one hour later for my appointment and they tell me that they made a mistake and they didn’t have a massage therapist there today. WHAT?! She said they called and left me a message but I got no call or message on my phone. She verified the number and sure enough it was the wrong number. Don’t they have caller ID to cross reference??? She said she called the owner and she was going to give me a 20% off coupon and some free samples… Thanks but no thanks. 20%?! That’s all for a complete inconvenience! The worse part is that a similar thing happened to me 4 years ago and that’s why it took so long for me to go back there. The first time I sat and waited in the waiting room for 20 minutes only to have them tell me that the therapist had called in sick that morning and wasn’t there! Their only saving grace is that the massage therapist Courtney is a good therapist. I will never go back here again.

Kate is amazing and super outgoing and makes you feel super comfortable! Love it there

Awesome salon. Very homey, cozy, and intimate. I went to Yvette and she was great! I’ve been doing hair for ten years and she impressed me. They also have quite the selection of products that are right for you. I found my place :)

Had my second visit there for a pedicure not to pleased. Nothing fancy and overpriced.

I have been going to Renee for years. She is the best! Everyone always asks me where I get my hair done. She is my stylist and my therapist lol!

Kate is the best!!! Absolute sweetheart and great at Brazilian waxes. I found this place from the Unilocal reviews and I haven’t been let down. Everyone is very friendly.

I am new to the área and was in desperate need of a Brazilian! So I made an appointment at this place since it got pretty good reviews on Unilocal.Well I came in really friendly staff looks very classy and clean but, the Brazilian I got was less than ok. The young lady was super nice but I’m sure she was not an expert on waxing as she used a lot of wax. So after she was finished she cleaned me up and gave me a complementary sample of cream for treating area. Didn’t think twice and left to run more errands. But when I got home I went to bathroom and realized I had huge clumps of wax and hair (inbetween) and was really disappointed. How does a wax tech miss this??? I had to rip it out myself and clean it thoroughly myself. Since it was too late to call and complain o waisted till next day on Saturday, spoke to receptionist and explained the situation and told her that although the girl was really nice she left me with big clumps of wax. I was told I’d get a call from the manager on Wednesday. It hat never happened!!! Great customer service VIP! I guess I’ll just keep going to the real professionals downtown Chicago!!! Very disappointed…

Went for my very first Brazilian waxing with Kate. She was very friendly, professional and made me feel comfortable in an otherwise awkward scenario! I would recommend her to anyone in need to skin care or waxing services.

I will not go anywhere else for waxing. Kate is amazing! I’ve also been lucky enough to have a facial by her as well. It was a great experience. Kate has a great personality to make you feel comfortable and she is very professional. I also have had a massage and air brush make up at VIP. Both were awesome experiences as well and would treat myself again!

This place is good! If you are a walk-​in ask for Renee, she is amazing and always does my hair the way I ask. Even if bringing in a picture, she will do her best to make it look exactly like the picture shows. The people there are so nice and make you feel welcomed.

Great place for waxing. First of all the 5 stars are to KATE from waxing. What an amazing professional. Had legs and brazilian done by her. She knows the exact line between being professional and being friendly! Great, great, great job. Going back there just because of her. Never had the other services at the salon so i cant say much about the rest. Front desk was ok. The place is clean (very good point)!
Price wasnt bad… Payed much more before for a really bad service.
Def coming back!

My appointment was for 12:30 at 12:40 the said they could not take me for another 30 minutes. I am sorry but that is NOT acceptable. My time is valuable and the receptionist is a little snot.
Also the prices are high at VIP

I have been coming here since 2010 for Kate! She started off with doing my eyebrows and is so fantastic! She has also done my brazillian wax and is so professional about everything. I can’t say enough good things about her, you have to go see for yourself :) do not cheat yourself by going to the regular old nail places for a cheap $ 10 eyebrow wax. They do not do you any good and look horrible.

Went for a last minute massage and they were about to fit me right in. Upon arrival I noticed the salon was very clean and adorable, but maybe a little cluttered. I couldn’t figure out what to focus on because there was a lot to look at! However, the employees were very nice and I loved the ambiance. I had a ½ hour massage with Sarah and she was fantastic! She listened to everything I had to say and offered solutions. I read on another review that it was not the ‘right atmosphere’ for a massage. I disagree. It was quiet and relaxing. I would definitely recommend Sarah!

This place is the BEST!
I see Kate for Brazilians and she is the bomb! She is awesome at what she does. She is quick and efficient and never misses a spot. I had her do my eyebrows once too and she did that fantastically!
I have had my hair done by Yvette mainly, but also have had Becca and Bo, and all 3 of them are great.
The whole staff here is wonderful and I cannot recommend them highly enough!

I must say, this place was not worth the money. I paid over $ 60 for a basic pedicure, and while the hair stylist doing the pedicure was nice, she clearly was not a nail tech. She filed my nails unevenly, and the polish was slapped on very sloppily. The receptionist were very rude, and they ran over half an hour late for my appointment without so much as an apology or explanation why.
After going home and talking to my friend that referred me there, I learned that the pedicure was supposed to be an hour long. I totally missed out on that «20 minute massage» that she had raved about.
Never the less, I will not be returning.

When I want to look and feel amazing, I come here. I’ve had my hair cut here a time or two (my hair loyalties lie elsewhere), but my god… I just can’t find anyone that can shape eyebrows like Kate can.
She’s a miracle worker. She could probably wax water into wine with what she’s managed to do with my face. When I leave VIP (even red and blotchy like you are after waxing) I look so much more put together. She’s sociable and sweet and makes things as painless as possible…
…which is probably why I’ve been back to have all sorts of things waxed. Legs, pits, toes, and crotch– all waxed smooth as a baby’s bottom courtesy of Kate’s mad skills. It’s not even awkward having her all up in your crotch– she’s entirely business-​like and makes it a piece of cake.
A little pricey… but she’s good! And it’s not awkward! And in my opinion, that makes it worth it.

Went to VIP for my first bikini waxing experience. Even though I booked a Brazilian, I ended up getting a Modified Bikini for my first time. Karen made me feel SUPER comfortable, and even had my laughing! She walked me through every step and she was very gentle. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is nervous about going, she’s so funny! Rebooked again, and they give day before reminder calls. Will be shooting for the whole Brazilian next time. Not a «wanna-​be» salon at all. Thanks again for making an uncomfortable situation as enjoyable as it could be!

This place is definitely more salon than spa. I went for a massage here one time, and it really wasn’t a relaxing experience because the noise bleed-​through into the treatment room from the boisterous salon area was so pronounced. The massage itself was enjoyable enough; I had a hot stone massage for the first time, and let me tell you, those suckers are HOT. I couldn’t stand them on the center of my lower back so the therapist worked to adjust them to make it comfortable. There was a LOT of oil on the rocks, so they kept slipping around/​off, and i left with very yucky hair from the oil (had to go straight home because I looked a fright). Overall, I wouldn’t choose this place again for a massage just because of the sound issues, not due to anything wrong on the part of the therapist etc. It seemed to be a bustling business in the salon, so perhaps a good option for a haircut if you’re in the Joliet area.

VERY nice salon, i went in there a few days before X-​mas and got my hur did. They fit me in even when they were real busy and the chics there are hott, so enjoy!
