Omar’s has a lot of great food, and while I usually go for steaks, the chicken and waffles(brunch) has been the most impressive dish I have had so far. I recently ordered a steak,(can’t remember the name) that was served with a pickled sweet pepper relish and it was absolutely outstanding. They have a decent beer and wine selection. The bread is absolutely outstanding

Wanted a nice place to chill outside with a glass of wine and remembered the incredible patios at Omar’s. I don’t go here often simply because the food is so pricey. However, if you’re wanting some yummy food and an amazing outdoor seating area, this is the place to go! My husband and I ordered the Spinach dip, bang bang shrimp, Ahi Tuna, and the corn cakes. All 4 were delicious. We also ended up ordering the brownie, which was also quite tasty. My favorite part about this restaurant though is that patio! There aren’t enough places in this town to chill outside with drinks and good company so it’s great to have this little jewel. I also prefer the upstairs laid back area over the downstairs. However, if you’re looking for a nice night out, it’s a great little spot, as well. While I haven’t tried it, I hear they offer a phenomenal $ 6 burger on Monday nights!

I have visited Omar’s on two occasions now with very high expectations, only to be left disappointed due to the very lengthy wait for our food. The first visit took well over an hour after ordering but I will give them that one since there was a large party of about 20 people next to us. The second time we were seated upstairs near the bar, and again our food took well over an hour. Our server was also covering the bar on a Saturday night and was less than attentive. The manager should have taken notice and gotten him some help because no body likes their server to be profusely sweating. Each time the food was just okay. I had the ahi tuna once, and the pecan crusted salmon once. Neither were fantastic, nor horrible, but my opinion could be skewed solely based upon irritability. I’m sure I’ll be back as it’s one of few upscale restaurants in Jonesboro. Here’s to hoping third times the charm!

Went to dinner with some colleagues in town and the service and food were spectacular. I had the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend this restaurant for the business meeting or the special occasion dinner. I was very impressed.

My husband and I visited Omar’s for the first time last weekend. We recently moved here from out-of-state, and have been looking for a great ‘date-night’ restaurant — we are happy to have found it in our new hometown(honestly, we were starting to worry that a great dining experience would only be possible if we drove to Memphis)! Our waitperson was wonderful, and it was so nice to find out that she & I are from the same area in Southern California. We both ordered a salad and I went with the vinaigrette, which I believe was lime, honey and a hint of sesame dressing — it was yummy! My husband ordered a steak(cooked to perfection) and I had their pecan crusted salmon(loved it). I would love to see Omar’s add a jazz trio on the weekends for us 40-something’s. We certainly would have hung out it their upstairs bar a bit longer. Thanks for a great date night. Looking forward to a Wednesday visit for their wine event.

After trying to call and discuss my review with the manager(since he contacted me), and he was completely unresponsive — here is my original review. Good luck on going to this joint. Never again for me — one and done. These are the reviews you just have to enjoy writing. Only occasionally do you come across a Resturant with such pretentious attempts at being ‘something’ and failing so miserably. I look at the reviews on Unilocal, and my first question is whether anyone writing a review has actually been in a Resturant. The service? Terrible. The food? Well, just because you can combine flavors, doesn’t mean you should. First, of course, the story. Our first visit to Omar’s. I had high expectations from hearing so much about it, and let’s face it — the food scene in Jonesboro is pretty light, except for about 5 original restaurants and 2,000 fast food chains. Service was incredibly slow — WITHONEEXCEPTION. I did get plenty of water. The order process took forever to get a server’s attention. Then, there was NO bussing of the table. None. I finally requested my table to be bussed, just to get it done. Then the Food. Seriously, the Crawfish bisque was okay, as were the crabmeat ‘poppers’. But then there was the filet… Pepper encrusted, but not described like that in the menu. And the crab meat topping… Oh, God help us, the idiot in the kitchen thought it was ‘awesome’ to dump Worcestershire is crab meat. WHATKINDOFIDIOTAREYOU? The worst combination I have ever tasted. I don’t have an answer for this place. I guess since there is no place else in NEA, just suck it up and ‘be happy’. If you come here, be careful of your server — and don’t order the crab topping. Know the steak will be pepper encrusted whether you want it or not(you won’t be told), they likely will not have your spirit of choice and it will be as LOUD as it can be, even when one third full. Oh, I did forget to mention the bread was pretty good.

Most excellent surprise to stumble upon Omar’s when visiting Arkansas last week. It was our anniversary and we actually set out to find a recommended BBQ joint that had it turned out gone out of business. So we spotted Omar’s downtown and walked in. We ordered shrimp and grits and a redfish special. Both were excellent. Good wine list for Arkansas and we enjoyed a nice bottle. Finished the evening with bread pudding. Very good and a very good experience overall. When you happen to be in Jonesboro — stop in. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent Meal. Each dish was superbly designed & executed. The wait staff, Zach was very polite & helpful. The Sea Bass(both entrees) were tender & nicely seasoned. Dessert was excellent, although We do think the White Chocolate Brownie was the best. The manager did come over to see us. There is a coupon on Unilocal for $ 2 White Chocolate Brownie, with the purchase of an entrée, when you check into the business on Unilocal & are connected to Facebook. We really enjoy Omar’s Uptown and it is always a joy to spend some time there.

This place deserves its high star rating. The food is top of the line. They only tiny little negative experience I’ve had was for my birthday this year. We had quite a large bill, understandably for the food quality, and my finance tipped the waiter very well, and told him several times it was my birthday but no complementary desert ever came. Even the offer of a birthday desert never came up. Always wonderful food, not always top of the line service.

The good people of Jonesboro are the luckiest foodies in the Mid-South. I’d take Omar’s Uptown over ANY so-called ‘restaurant’ in Memphis and the vicinity. First, the location and interior. Great corner location in the quaint Jonesboro downtown. Beautifully decorated. Not too little. Not too much. The art is attractive but doesn’t steer the eyes away from the dining experience. Having the larger bar and lounge area on the second floor is classic New York City. We’ll done. But we’re here for the food. Pure genius. Every dish is not new to virtually anyone’s vocabulary… their just done RIGHT! Yes, it’s a place for a great steak, but with an ample selection of salads, poultry and seafood to boot. Some highlights: An appetizer called Crawfish and Andouille Cheesecake. I dare not try to explain. Just order and enjoy. One should never roll the entire salmon in pecans… and Omar doesn’t and that’s why it’s perfection. The dessert of Chocolate Terrine. One bite and I was completely satisfied. Hallelujah. Omar, I’d give you 10 stars if Unilocal would allow me. The sad part is that Jonesboro is a long way to drive just for dinner. So, my goal is to build lasting relationships with the good folks of Jonesboro and be offered frequent visits and overnight accommodations.

This place is amazing and what a gem to find in the middle of America where the normal fare is simple down-home comfort meals. Omar’s offers something different. This place is upscale and has amazing upscale food. I had the filet and it was die for. It was served with the best twice-baked potato I’ve ever had, with a side of asparagus as well. Wine and dessert were also paired perfectly at the suggestion of our waiter. I loved it.

Nice restaurant! Food and atmosphere were excellent only had to drop a star for service. Not that out waitress was bad by any means… but for the quality of restaurant she was not polished. We had an early dinner and I think we were her only table at the time and she just was not attentive(never even introduced herself) and didn’t make reccomedations. All that aside this is great food! We ordered filets and these are big steak portions– I was presently surprised! I had the Blue and Port which is a wonderful FLAVORFUL blue cheese and port wine sauce on my steak. Omg! Yum! Perfect balance of sweet and savory… My husband had the Crown Royal which is Crown Royal reduced down to a savory sauce and it was to die for as well. Overall presentation was OK… nothing special, in fact you could say plain. But the taste of our steaks completely made up for it. Oh! The waitress did redeem herself at the end of our meal. She knew it was our anniversary and brought us a complementary dessert! Very nice!

What a great find in Jonesboro! Ambience was great. Service was excellent. Price was on point with the caliber of food. Crab Cakes were perfect, crab and corn bisque was also excellent. My wife had the Ahi Tuna which was presented with asparagus and avocado and I went with the Snapper Verde with corn cakes. Both were very good. Plated to perfection with generous portions and robust flavors. Compliment to the chef and staff. One of my best dining experiences in a while.

Jonesboro’s fine dining establishment is located in the rejuvenated downtown area. They feature fine wines & high end drinks that will not disappoint. They steak is cooked just perfect at medium rare. The wedge salad is very enjoyable and the seared tuna appetizer is cooked to perfection. We always enjoy our meal here.

Fine Dining Downtown Jonesboro. This is the only real white table cloth joint in town. The food is good, but not great and the menu is ever unchanging, which is to bad since having a nice meal out is a treat for most and to see the same menu from 3,6, 12 mo ago is disappointing. The interior design is nice but over done and could have been so much better if not done by the typical boring Jonesboro-type interior designer who is stuck in the 90’s with red and mustard as their main color palette. The service is very good, the prices are high, and the food is predictable.

Omar’s is one of the more expensive, but definetly the best place in Jonesboro, when it comes to fresh, high quality and tasteful food in Jonesboro. + great steak(highly recommend New York Strip) + vegetables are done perfectly, which is rare. + great selection of wines + great wine for a fair price(I loved the Red Devil and the Honig) + they don’t rush you, but you have to take some time — which I prefer + if the weather is right, I recommend sitting outside on the terrace + live music sometimes + friendly service(I always value food over service and I like them authentic and not over-attentive) o A part of the menu changes weekly o some food combinations seem a bit odd or desperate to me, but mostly the menu is great — Interior /atmosphere is modern and clean, but not comfortable or cozy. I still prefer that over most of the other restaurant, that don’t care at all, but It could be much nicer. Over all definitely 5 stars, considering it’s Jonesboring. 4 stars on a world-rating.

We had the nicest dinner at Omar’s Uptown this evening for my husband’s birthday. My husband is vegan, and there just aren’t many vegan options in Jonesboro. I talked to the manager last week to make arrangements for a vegan meal. He never even blinked — was totally ready to put something together for us. The ambiance is great. It was quiet and there was old R& B playing in he background, which I love. Comfortable seating with plenty of room between tables, so no inadvertent participation in other conversations. My mom & I shared the crabcake poppers. YUM! Lots of crab with minimal cake. She had saffron salmon and I had the baja ahi tuna, which was just like buttah. John’s dish was grilled eggplant & mushrooms with asparagus and tomatoes and a balsamic reduction. I swear, I think it was the best dish at our table. The salads were crisp and fresh. The service was fantastic(Thanks, Steve!). They were all about making us happy. This was my first time at Omar’s Uptown. We loved it and are looking forward to going again. Several reviews mentioned price. We’ve spent about the same for dinner at some of the local chains or similar restaurants here and in Memphis, Little Rock, etc. The difference is the food at Omar’s is far better — plus I like supporting a local biz.

This was a great treat for my birthday. The food was excellent and the staff was friendly and attentive. One of the owners came to us and told us they were happy that we joined them for dinner. I thought that was really special! I would’ve given 5 stars if it wasn’t so pricey.
