Visiting my son and family in Joppatown, I always used to go the chicken on the roof place for my pit beef fix. Since that has been closed for a while now, I decided to check out the purple pit. Got the large pit beef, a small fry and side of beans. The large pit beef and the sub roll it was on were excellent and substantial. They offered horse radish and raw onions with it, I said no onions, but when I got home there was nothing on it, so had to make some horse radish sauce from my son’s fridge to go with it. The fries were fresh cut and super hot. Though they were a thicker cut than I prefer, they were the type my wife and daughter in-law like so they helped. The homemade baked beans were delicious, but needed to be reheated. They also had some pieces of bacon in them, which is the way my mom aways made them. All in all, a good experience and I will go there again on my next visit to Joppatown.
