Best Burger Barn

Tucked away on the side of FM917 in rural Johnson County the Burger Barn would be easy to miss. At first glance it appears to be just another run of the mill «hole in the wall». But first impressions can be deceitful.
If you like burgers in a friendly, laid back atmosphere this is the place for you.
The wait staff is attentive and fun. The atmosphere is about as far from formal and stuffy as you can possibly get — even for Texas, and the burgers will not disappoint.
I didn’t count exactly, but the menu contained at least 20 specialty burger selections. Each selection is a ¹⁄₃ lb. burger with a variety of unique toppings. Although the burger entrée does not include a side such as fries, the prices are very reasonable even after adding fries extra.
My choice was the «Bacon Bleu» burger. This is a ¹⁄₃ lb burger with bacon and bleu cheese. If desired it also comes with all the typical vegi fixins on top. It was just the right amount of bleu cheese to give a great flavor without being overwhelming. The fries were crisp and tasty also.
The Burger Barn features Karaōke as well as live entertainment including an Elvis act on various nights. All in all a fun place to get a great meal at a reasonable price. Highly recommended!

Good burgers. The only complaint I would have, is that after dining in the restaurant I came out smelling like fried food.

Great burger, juicy and greasy! Home cut fries are very good. Onion rings seemed to be frozen, and were blah. It’s BYOB.

LOVE THEIR BURGERS!!! If you are in the area, you have to have a bite here. The armadillo balls are great and I hate jalapeños. I just wish they didn’t run out so fast! I went here 5 times before I could even try them because they were always out, usually just ran out too. The fries are good as well. I can’t rave enough about this place.

My sweetie and I were a bit hungry after looking at RV’s all day. She found this great little burger joint and boy let me tell you, it HIT the spot! Burgers were nice & juicy! The tator tots were crispy & fresh as well as the homemade fries! Service was great and friendly! Atmosphere was quaint! The place had such a nice, country feeling. You will not be disappointed folks!

Let me begin by saying this is my first Unilocal review. That said, I regularly use Unilocal to help me decide if I want to eat somewhere. So I felt compelled to write this. I have eaten here several times over the past couple years, but today was my last time. My daughter and I stopped in for lunch today, we were the only female customers at the time. Our server was very rude to us but had a totally different tone with the male customers. I even got up and went to the restroom sink to refill my water so I didn’t have to ask her, since we’d been snapped at by her several times. We got burgers and fries, we unwrapped the paper from our burger to put ketchup on them, there was so much grease on the paper it was unbelievable! After reading the previous review about the owners behavior with them, I’m glad we didn’t talk to him about the issues. In the past he has always been very nice to us.
I don’t know what has happened to this place but it is not the same as in the past.

My family and will never darken the door of this place ever again. We went to celebrate my daughters birthday last night and when we pulled into the parking lot, we realized the owner was the person driving a Ford truck with a utility trailer on it which was the same vehicle that almost ran us off the road a few minutes before arriving at the restaurant. My husband approached the owner and told him he almost ran us off the road. The owner proceeded to cuss out my husband and said that if he wanted to run us off the road, he would of made sure he ran us off the road. My husband said we had our grandbaby in the car and the owner said he doesn’t «give a f@@@» and that our grandbaby was no more important than anyone else’s kid. We said we will no longer do business with him and his colorful language continued. I went to the front of the restaurant to take a picture of the establishment because I was going to share our experience on social media. The owner came towards me telling me I had 30 seconds to get off his property. All the while he was taking the lid off his large soft drink and took a stance as if he was going to throw his drink on me. As I walked to our car, the owner followed me and then took a picture of our license plate. My husband asked him why he did that and the owner said «so I know where you live». We took that as a threat. In the meantime the owner asked his old man friend to go get his gun. The old man came back with a shot gun. We left and drove next door to the mobile station and waited for the police. I have never in my life been treated like that by anyone let alone the owner of a business. And the language he used and the names he called us in front of my daughter and grand daughter is inexcusable.

My Uncle can’t wait to eat another fat lady. He also can’t wait to get his mouth on some Armadillo Balls. We loved everything. Service and food! 5 big stars!

I would give zero stars but would not let me! 28 minutes and counting for a burger at drive through window! Nothing is that good. Do not come here unless you in retirement and bored.
Edited my review found the owner and he was super nice. The burger was really good and the armadillo ball was spicy goodness!

Been going here for about 6 months. Friendly staff, and good burgers. Nothing fancy, even a little run down, but the food keeps me coming back

Fantastic breakfast. I cant make it this good at home, nor have I had it this good from anywhere else. I eat here a few times a month. Always friendly and great food. Burgers are also amongst the best Ive had. But breakfast is KING!!!

This place has outstanding food particularly the hamburgers. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The owner is onsite most of the time and will even cook or deliver your meal when needed! It’s a great stop in a motorcycle ride since it’s located on a nice twisting road. If you order fries you better like a lot of them. Fresh and hand cut and flowing out of the basket.

Holy cannoli. I cannot believe that this place doesn’t have any reviews. It is amazing, amazing, amazing. I enjoyed the fat lady (hamburger patty, cheese, bacon, onion, BBQ sauce) and tasted like heaven. The fries are hand cut and super yummy.
